IG Report Is Whitewash

The IG report is little more than a whitewash for the Obama admin and Hillary. The report did cite some misdeeds by some DOJ/FBI officials but made not one point about the double standard of justice carried out re Hillary and the President.

The author stated that while there was bias against Trump there was not political bias exhibited by FBI officials. Find one person in this country who believes that. Reason is, that if political bias was charged the Mueller investigation would be null and void. Well, there was plenty of political bias and the Mueller investigation should be shut down tomorrow. Strzok should be fired tomorrow. The Mueller investigation should be terminated tomorrow. Sessions should take the reins and work to clean up the FBI, investigate the rogue agents and force the FBI to hand over information requested by oversight investigators.

The author's lame recommendations on cleaning up the FBI are rules that have been in place at the FBI for 50 years. Just an outright whitewash and I hope Trump will not stand for it.

The country will not stand for a two tiered justice system. This needs to be corrected and corrected before the next election.

This guy should not be allowed to conduct an investigation of the FISA warrants.

FBI Director Wray strikes me as not the person to head the FBi, especially during this critical time. Strikes me as a preppie youngster operating beyond his ability.

This country needs a third party bad.

Hahahahahahaha whitewash, Are you f**king insane Roy! When do you admit you were wrong, you were misled by the conservative movement propaganda machine who you obviously have your head up the a** of. Snookered, Made a fool of, lied to and foolish enough to believe it, WTF does it take to make you realize you are wrong? If this was anyone other than the conservative movement propaganda machine that blew such vast quantities of smoke up your a** you would have realized it years ago. What is the problem?

How many times do you have to suck hind tit when it comes top truth and integrity before you have the courage to stop the propagandist from altering your reality?

Like I said in a previous thread, the IG report did not matter much to me because it merely confirmed what everyone who is not a Trump supporter has been saying all along. Hillary Clinton did nothing criminal, never mind deserving chants of “Lock her up.” Comey probably cost her the election because of his poor judgment, but he did not lie. It was a bad situation, because even as Trump was running around saying anyone who was being investigated by the FBI should not be allowed to run for office, he was in fact being investigated, and the FBI said nothing.

Trump supporters were heavily invested in all sorts of conspiracy theories about Hillary Clinton, the FBI, and Comey. Now it turns out it was all lies, and Trump was the source of the lies. Simply put, Democrats were telling the truth and in touch with reality. Trump supporters were lying through their teeth, egged on by the likes of Trump, Limbaugh, Hannity, FOX, and others, and those supporters were seriously deluded. Now that ugly edifice of lies has come crashing down.

So enough of the crap. Time for apologies from the Trump supporters.

Have to say that I didn’t care all that much about the IG investigation either. I knew the talking heads were just talking out their a$$es about how damaging this was or how irrelevant it was. I figured it would find some minor misdoings and disregard for protocol, then give us a report about how great they really are, and that would be it.
That is until yesterday afternoon when I noticed Phx8 desperately trying to dismiss it as nothing.

At first I thought it was just the standard Obama/Clinton cheerleader nonsense we always get, but then I started reading the exact same narrative on other message boards and in media stories: ‘Hillary Clinton did nothing criminal’ and ‘no criminal wrongdoing’ by Hillary Clinton.
This sparked my interest and I decided to give the report a little more attention.

Apparently Comey did in fact deviate from established procedure and, as he told us himself, he did so for Clinton’s benefit.
It looks like President Trump was right in firing Comey.
Apparently there was indeed biased counterintelligence agents working against Trump.
Apparently President Obama did know something about Clinton’s private email server.
Obviously there are two sets of standards when it comes to how classified information is handled and investigations into it.

Hillary Clinton: ‘But my emails’
Which ones Hillary? The classified ones found on your private email servers? Or the 30+ thousand under subpoena that you deleted before anybody could see them?

I wouldn’t feel too bad, Roy. Everybody knew nobody would be held accountable for their actions. But what has now been verified is definitely pretty bad and more will come out as people keep digging through the report.

kctim & Roy,
You are following an authoritarian. You are caught in a cult. You need deprogramming.

Donald Trump, speaking this morning when asked about Kim Jong Un:

“He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same…”

Trump consistently praises a dictator and the most repressive regime in the world. He does so voluntarily. No one is making him do it. Trump dismisses the repression and horrible human rights violations, prison camps, and mass starvation by saying other people do it too. He refuses to stand up for fundamental human rights.

In this morning’s press conference, Trump lied about the IG report. It does not exonerate him, nor does it prove there is no collusion. The report had nothing to do with either.

Want to know how bad the NY state lawsuit against the Trump Foundation looks?

The Foundation gave $5000 to advertise Trump hotels.
$100,000 was given to settle a lawsuit with the city of Palm Beach.
$258,000 was used to settle other lawsuits against Trump and his businesses. Trump wrote a voucher instructing the payment be made from his Foundation.

The state is suing for almost $3 million in restitution plus penalties. The remaining funds in the Foundation will be frozen and distributed to legitimate charities. Trump will be barred from serving on the board of any charity. His case will be referred to the IRS and other federal entities.

authoritarian: favoring or enforcing strict obedience to authority, especially that of the government, at the expense of personal freedom.

I don’t favor such obedience and Trump has not used government to force such obedience. Do you have examples that prove otherwise?
I cherish actual personal freedoms and have not lost any more of those freedoms under Trump. Do you have examples that prove otherwise?

Cult members aren’t willing to acknowledge and accept facts, instead they try to explain them away or just outright ignore them. They need their opinion to be seen as fact and they employ personal attacks to deflect away from the actual facts. They stop discussing the IG report and start rambling about a NY state lawsuit.

“Want to know how bad the NY state lawsuit against the Trump Foundation looks?”

Sure, which is why I will wait for the non-biased facts.

Every morning they get up and tune in some Liberal media talking head to tell them what to think about the latest Trump findings. The media has told them that the IG report is a milquetoast summation finding nothing of value to harm them politically.

With that reading of news our Pals wiped the sweat from their foreheads and began celebrating and calling Conservatives names.

It will eventually sink in to their rather thick skulls that this report contains much that will harm them. But, what do they care. These political creatures just live from day to day and feast on the few crumbs they are being fed by their masters.

Perhaps this will help sober up our media-swilling Liberal Pals.

Democratic pollster John Zogby is quoted this week saying…

“His (President Trump) approval ratings within his own party are high. If you look today, 87 percent of Republicans give him a positive approval rating. What’s that mean? At this point in his presidency, Barack Obama had a 79 percent rating among Democrats. The only president at this point in time in the presidency to outscore Donald Trump was George W. Bush at 95 percent, and of course, by this point in time, we had launched the war in Iraq. Ronald Reagan wasn’t this high. Jack Kennedy wasn’t this high. The GOP is the party of Trump.”

kctim, part of the explanation for the angst of Liberals is the growing realization that President Trump is becoming more popular every day, even among those traditional Democrat groups; blacks, Hispanics, youth and women.

This growing popularity is based upon what Trump and the Republican house and senate have accomplished. Obama’s popularity was based upon charisma and that did not translate into cash in the pocket or a job for those unemployed for years.

Liberals can not understand Trump’s ability to withstand the onslaught by mainstream media which would have crushed a lessor man months ago. They had hoped that their daily litany of lies and half-truths would have caused Trump’s base to desert him. Once they had succeeded in reducing his support to below 25%, Trump could be ousted in some manner.

However, as seen in the quote above by Democrat pollster, John Zogby, Trump’s approval rating is soaring.

The leaders in the Democrat Party know that the mid-term elections will not produce the results they had been hoping for. And, they know that with the support Trump has among the voters, even the former “Never Trumpers” are scrambling to board the Trump bandwagon.

The Democrat Party has deliberately pushed the moderates from the midst. All that remains are the shrill, angry, disappointed radical Left. It’s a diminishing group, and that is good for America. Soon, their voices will be a gentle murmur in the wind.

Paul Manafort, Campaign Manager for Donald Trump, went to jail today. He violated the terms of his bail agreement by attempting witness tampering. Two of the witnesses were so uncomfortable, they ratted him out. Given the nature of the charges, there is a good chance Manafort will spend the rest of his life in jail. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer crook. Buy-Bye, Paul!

Trump spend a lot of time lying today. He clocked in at 19 lies or misleading statements during a 51 minute press gaggle. This morning Trump pretended he barely even knew his campaign manager. By this afternoon, he tweeted that it was “unfair!” and that he was being prosecuted for acts committed 12 years ago. That was yet another lie. Manafort STARTED money laundering 12 years ago. It continued through early 2017. His latest indictments for Obstruction of Justice happened for deeds committed just weeks ago.

Cohen is telling friends he’s about to flip. The noose is tightening around the crooks and traitors. Hold onto your hat!

Manafort will be going away for a long time. It is not likely he will be able to offer anything about Trump that will save him, unless he can fill in the details of the Trump Tower meeting he attended along with Trump Jr., Kushner, and the Russians. Buh-Bye, Paul!

Cohen is another matter, and pardons will not save him, because he is in jeopardy by both the federal government and the state of NY, and many of the indictments he will face overlap. Cohen is cooked. Defense lawyer Avenatti estimated Cohen’s 15 lawyers cost $700/hr for 50 hours a week, with the lead costing $1200 per hour. That comes out to about $500,000/wk, and the money is not recoverable.

So Cohen is about to sing like a canary.

And if you think the Russia/Trump connection fizzled, you are in for a VERY unpleasant surprise. Cohen is the one who went to Prague along with three others to pay off the Russian hackers. He had to do it because Manafort was exposed. Cohen represented the Russians and Ukrainians when he brought that Ukrainian deal to Michael Flynn.

So like I said, hold onto your hat. The summer fireworks are about to fly.

At this point I feel pretty good about being an Independent and having called for a new 3rd party to clean up the dark swamp crowd (never Trumpers, communist news network, fake news, GOP establishment and, dims).

We put up with Clinton, Bush and Obama admins, working to diminish US sovereignty thru open borders and the use of immigration to hold worker wages down.

Whether one party held the big 3 or not it didn’t make any difference. We got globalised, free-ly traded and our population growth was driven wholly by an influx of people.

US law was ignored and even though they weren’t able to pass the NAU into law they invoked it piecemeal under the table.

One example; an illegal man who had been here five years, married a US citizen and with two children, working as a pizza delivery person, was arrested by ICE for driving without a license. That’s because he couldn’t get a license. He showed them a NY city license but he lived somewhere else. Likewise, he couldn’t have had insurance. Now, if some joe citizen tried to operate like that he would be treated like P. Manaport.

People bitched and moaned but, of course, nothing got done. Then, along comes a somewhat populist to stand for election.

AND, world war 3 broke out almost immediately. The populist was elected and went on to do some pretty impressive things. But the war only got worse.

We put up with years of s..t from the dark swamp and now that a somewhat 3rd party type person is in office they have used every possible means, legal and illegal, to get rid of him.

The dark swamp has slow rolled Trump’s appointments, refuse to pass favorable legislation forcing him to lead from the WH, whatever they can do to obstruct and demean him as President. Judge Jeanine was on Hannity tonight begging for some gov’t entity to hold people like Hillary accountable.

The Indies and a few moderate GOP’ers have sat out a couple of decades while the dark swamp has held sway. Now, we have a populist President who is changing the way things have been. So, why can’t the dark swampers just let Trump be Trump and cool their jets like we did. If Trump builds a wall during his tenure than some years down the road the dark swampers can tear the wall down, open the borders and catch up real on the number of cheap workers.

But, they won’t sit it out. They want to own the gov’t, now and forever.

You overlook the in your face corruption of the Trump administration by using the make believe corruption of the former SoS. Trump used his business and defrauded thousands of Americans, now has used a charity for his own personal gain yet that is all right because of the “dark swamp”! How incredibly foolish does one have to be to buy into this nonsense.

Trump/Putin has used you guys, played you like a fiddle, and you still cannot see the truth behind the smoke screen. Tomorrow a lot of people will go to church, and a lot of sermons will address the attempt to justify separating children from their parents at the border. AG Sessions used a notorious passage from Romans 13, one that has been used in the past to justify slavery, segregation, and Nazi policies. A lot of Christians are outraged that the Bible has been used to justify a moral abomination.

Trump does not pretend it is a good policy. Instead, he lies about it. He tries to blame the Democrats and pretend his AG is just enforcing the law. That is false. These monstrous actions started recently and they are a result of policy, “zero tolerance policy,” NOT law. Trump is literally separating mothers from their children and using the suffering for his own ends.

It is shocking to see the pictures. It is shocking to see America fall so far. A lot of people are going to hear sermons about this tomorrow, and I do not think many Christians will go along with treating poor refugees so horribly.

No, most of those horrific pictures and videos are happening RIGHT NOW. It started in mid-April, when the Trump administration instituted a “zero tolerance policy.”

The pictures you are probably referring to came from 2014. A lot of unaccompanied children showed up in a large influx, more than could be properly housed at the time. It was awful, no question, but no one wanted that. The Obama administration had no choice, they rectified the situation as fast as they could, and the children were placed with their families as soon as possible.

What is happening now is a matter of choice. It is NOT a matter of law. It is a matter of policy. AG Sessions and Trump are choosing to do this to families and children. They are forcibly separating them. AG Sessions is even quoting Biblical verse to justify it.

We wonder from where phx8 gets his biblical information.

Jesus encouraged his followers to obey both the civil law, and God’s law.

Jesus encouraged his followers (not government) to love one another.

We honor Jesus by loving those suffering in other countries and giving huge amounts of aid from both our government and our religious charities. (Question) Are there any charitable atheist organizations helping the suffering in other countries?) Religious missionary activity in poor countries with suffering populations are legendary.

We honor Jesus by instituting means for those suffering in other countries a legal method for entry into our country.

We ask phx8 why he invokes Christian involvement into immigration law; when he advocates a strict separation between state and religion.

Does phx8 have a political agenda here?

We live in one of the richest countries in the world; and yet, in order to ‘Make America Great Again,’ there are many who would have us separate the families of immigrants and make them suffer; to turn our backs on those seeking to become Americans and seek opportunity. They would justify such un-Christian acts with the Bible. They would have us reject the poor and those fleeing violence and domestic abuse because of their language or the color of their skin or their poverty.

They would have us build a wall.

I would suggest Royal it is the White House, the DoJ, Jeff Sessions in particular who is invoking biblical verses. They do it because they know what they are doing is wrong.

Yes it seems they are riding both sides on this issue, on the one side Trump is lying about Dems and law being the reason for the separation of families. But he knows that works only with you guys not the vast majority of people in this country who can see through his lying. Which makes us ask if his intentions are honorable why does he have to lie about it.

ON the other side they, Sessions and Sanders, quote biblical verses to try to convince the religious right it is God’s will and therefore the right thing to do. But the good news is the religious right, the Southern Baptist at least, have taken a deeper look at themselves and how they have blindly accepted whatever Trump and the repubs have spouted. I am not a Christian, but I am more familiar with the Bible than most Christians. Does it matter? Human decency and kindness and compassion are universally recognized by most religions. As for taxes, I pay more than most, and I don’t complain, because I want those taxes to go to making this a decent, kind, and compassionate country that the champions values like human rights. We live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, and personally, I want to see poor people who come to this country given the chance to succeed. That can be done without letting people starve or die of exposure or perish for lack of medical care.

As j2t2 points out, AG Sessions used the Bible to justify separating mothers from their children at the border. That is the choice Sessions and Trump are making. They are choosing to do this. They chose to do that starting in mid-April. It is a matter of policy, a zero tolerance policy, not law.

When people break that law it results in unpleasant happenings such as being separated from loved ones. It happens everyday phx8, here and around the world when you break laws, women are separated from their children. The bible says we are to be compassionate, NOT STUPID, and it would be STUPID to keep taking hundreds of thousands of people in when we have hundreds of thousands of homeless citizens here already. I won’t argue with phx8 over how much he knows about the bible. However, I will argue that he knows next to nothing about Christians. He admits that his beliefs are different than Christians. Yet, he is determined that Christians perform as he wishes. A hypocrite says one thing and believes something else. Sound familiar phx8.

Phx8 will fail every time he attempts to club Christians into submission with bible verses that he believes support his position.

He doen’t not believe in the bible; and we will not allow him to subvert it. He claims that he actually does believe in the law, yet he won’t follow it.

So phx8, we have called your bluff. Do you believe and follow the law; or do you believe and follow some religion of your own?

“What loving parent brings their children to the border of a nation, helps them cross it, knowing full well that they will be separated from those children?”

Parents who are desperate. Parents who fear for the lives of themselves and their children. Parents who are willing to give up their homes and their possessions, if they have any, and risk it all to make a dangerous journey to start a new life in a new country, perhaps not even knowing the language. They are risking everything, even being separated from their children, and yet, they take that chance in order to become Americans and give their children that same chance, even if separated from them.

I thank God those religious leaders aren’t in charge of running this country and if you ask me I think Jesus would be glad they aren’t also. It’s easy to judge thing when emotions run high. Not all those who are seeking asylum are valid cases and common sense would tell you that. So phx8 you can quote all the religious leaders you want but the FACT remains they aren’t the ones who have to make the hard choices to what is in the best interest of the TAX PAYERS. Are those religious leaders going to house and feed those so called asylum seekers? Or are the TAX PAYERS going to foot the bill? As I said earlier loved ones are separated everyday all over the world through crimes committed are we to make special laws for parents? Where was your outrage when Obama was doing the same thing? O yea I forget the liberal media didn’t run stories that made Obama an A$$HOLE!

While reading about the seperation of kids, most of them are taken from adults who crossed over ILLEGALLY. Unfortunately until there is a better way to deal with the situation or a temporary camp be errected to process asylum seekers. They have to stop ILLEGALLY entering the country period. The crime may only be a misdemeanor but even misdemeanors carry jail time and unfortunately our jails are no place for children.

Relax j2t2, we don’t want you to have a stroke.

“Economic Reasons”.

How many times have we heard and read the Liberal line that these people are crossing our borders illegally for…wait for it…wait for it…”a better life; jobs; economic reasons.

You have fooled yourself so often with party jingles j2t2; that I fear you have become unable to separate the slogans from reality.

The United States congress has established a procedure for assessing those immigrants wishing to shelter in our country seeking asylum from certain and verifiable threats.

There is no provision established by congress to accept illegal immigrants (adults or children) for “economic reasons”.

As a Christian, I love all God’s children. I have, and do help the poor and disadvantaged both here and in other countries. I am able to help because I have worked hard, saved my money, and am willing to share.

My desire is for our country, and those individual Americans who can; to help these people where they live. We want to help them create better conditions in their own country. In that way, we not only help them, but we help their countrymen as well.

Only a fool believes we can welcome all the poor of the world into the United States.

Many of these children are alone. They have already been separated from their parents, by their own parents. Others are accompanied by people unrelated to the child. This is pure child exploitation, but the left doesn’t say that. They blame Trump.

The outrage is real.

The Trump administration manufactured this situation. They instituted this zero tolerance policy just months ago and it is going to get worse. AG Sessions embraces it and justifies it with quotes from the Bible. Trump pretends he does not, even though it his doing. He blames the Democrats, which is an out-and-out lie. Trump wants to trade the suffering he is causing with legislation to build a wall. It is beyond despicable.

This is what American hatred and American fear look like. This is how the dark side of the American character expresses itself. It is not our first go around. But this is certainly one of the ugliest.

pdx8, this is a campaign policy. As long as the pictures are of brown children, they view it as a positive, and love that their opposition are defending the brown people. Stephen Miller is in the ascendant right now, and Bannon is coming back into prominence now that the Mercers are keeping their heads down. The previous generation of right wingers were adopting children from all over the world. Now, some of those children, now adults, are being deported. Undocumented workers are being arrested, but there are no legal consequences for the corporations that employed them.

I think more and more through their comments the lefties on this blog do not understand the word ILLEGAL. They use the bible yet do not understand that Jesus and the writers of the Epistles Preached that doing something UNLAWFUL would bring consequences that are not pleasant. Even in the Old Testament God warned against doing UNLAWFUL acts and some of His punishments were very unpleasant to those who did. If the lefties and our Democrat leaders really cared about those who are seeking asylum you would think they would discourage their ILLEGAL attempts to enter the country but alas they instead encourage their ILLEGAL attempts with FAUX COMPASSION. Jesus and the Bible ENCOURAGES everyone to be compassionate to one another BUT also encourages OBEDIENCE to the laws of the land. The way you lefties use the bible or quotes from religious leaders is really laughable.

Up until the Trump administration decided to separate children from their parents those thought to be here illegally were detained and not separated from their parents. This decision by Trump was deliberate and intended to punish those here illegally. Now he is using these children as a political football to coerce votes and funding in favor of a wall that he promised would be paid for by Mexico. It has nothing to do with Jesus, nor with rule of law, nor with anything George Washington said. These are all smokescreens used by the neo-Nazis in this country to justify their actions, a tactic right out of the Hitler playbook used by the wannbe dictator Trump and his administration.

The rule of law argument some of the Nazis are usi…oops conservatives are using doesn’t hold water. This isn’t a law it is a policy of this administration. The argument is ignorant. The same can be said of the “they don’t know what illegal means” line of crap. All BS, all smokescreens and you guys are to cowardly to admit it. At least Miller has the balls to say he is a f**king White Nationalist and is doing this to discourage non-whites from coming here. You guys hide behind the smokescreen because you know this isn’t the right decision by our government yet it allows you to have vengeance on others. Grow a pair conservatives this is what you have worked for and it is here. Conservatives, just like the people of Germany in the 20’s and 30’s.

The real issue here is the degree to which our conservative friends here are willing to go to protect Trump. Just like the Jews were persecuted in the 30’s the neo-Nazis we call conservatives are defending the government’s actions allowing them to separate families being held in these camps. Yet you would tell others it is us that are hateful.

I mean do we know they are all illegal without the usual trial by witchcraft aren’t they presumed innocent at this point?

Immigration law did not change now from what is was under Bush and Obama. What changed is the Trump administration implemented a Zero Tolerance Policy, announced by AG Sessions last month.

The Policy has two goals: Deterrence, and Leverage.

The Zero Tolerance Policy is intended to deter migrants from coming to the Southern border. Separating children from parents is meant to frighten them away. The United States will make them suffer if they come here.

Kinda makes ya proud to be an American.

The leverage comes from Trump attempting to blame Democrats for the policy he put in place, and making the suffering so horrific, they will give in. In fact, Democrats did NOT institute this Zero Tolerance Policy.

Right now- RIGHT NOW- a majority of Democrats and Republicans could pass a bill doing away with the separation of families. They could also pass immigration reform. The Republican Congressional leadership is preventing it. If you recall, the Senate passed immigration reform under Obama. It was prevented by a faction of the House GOP. Boehner gave up and let Congressman Steve King (R-IA), one of the most racist members of Congress, write legislation which was roundly rejected.

And by the way, if you need proof that King is racist, just let me know. He is a gold mine of racist comments, and I mean, REALLY racist comments.

Aliens or Americans?
by Howard B. Grose, 1906

Wide open and unguarded stand our gates, And through them presses a wild, motley throng— Men from the Volga and the Tartar steppes, Featureless figures of the Hoang-Ho, Malayan, Scythian, Teuton, Celt, and Slav, Flying the old world’s poverty and scorn; These bringing with them unknown gods and rites, Those, tiger passions, here to stretch their claws. In street and alley what strange tongues are these, Accents of menace alien to our air, Voices that once the Tower of Babel knew! O Liberty, White Goddess! is it well To leave the gates unguarded?

It’s a faux outrage designed to promote and force “immigration reform”, otherwise known as the “Import Votes Legislation”. A conscious effort is being made to ignore the law with the endgame being to force immigration reform onto the citizenry. They caused this mess on purpose.

Their solution is to make our current situation at the border permanent with legislation designed to keep the borders open and provide unlimited access to anyone with a heartbeat.

Trump is enforcing the law. He’s doing his job. Don’t fall for this reform trap.

The Zero Tolerance Policy is intended to deter illegal entry into our country. The policy can only be implemented if it respects existing law.
Separating children from parents is done when adults go for their court hearing, because children are not allowed in federal court. The system is overburdened, which means longer separation times.
There is no law or policy that states unnecessary separating of families is to be done.

Enforcing our existing laws once again is meant to discourage illegal entry into our country. The ONLY time illegal aliens ‘suffer’ is on their journey here.

39th Congress
History of the Thirty-Ninth Congress of the United States
by William H. Barnes

Mr. Cowan, of Pennsylvania, spoke against the bill. He said: “The identical question came up in my State—the question whether the negro was a citizen, and whether he possessed political power in that State—and it was there decided that he was not one of the original corporators, that he was not one of the freemen who originally possessed political power, and that they had never, by any enactment or by any act of theirs, admitted him into a participation of that power, except so far as to tax him for the support of Government. And, Mr. President, I think it a most important question, and particularly a most important question for the Pacific coast, and those States which lie upon it, as to whether this door shall now be thrown open to the Asiatic population. If it be, there is an end to republican government there, because it is very well ascertained that those people have no appreciation of that form of government; it seems to be obnoxious to their very nature; they seem to be incapable either of understanding it or of carrying it out; and I can not consent to say that California, or Oregon, or Colorado, or Nevada, or any of those States, shall be given over to an irruption of Chinese. I, for my part, protest against it.

The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was enacted by the 47th Congress, and in 1892 it was extended an additional 10 years under the Geary Act. The Chinese Exclusion Act continued in some form through 1943, but much was replaced by the restrictive Immigration Act of 1924- an Act AG Sessions has publicly admired:

“Later, the Immigration Act of 1924 restricted immigration even further, excluding all classes of Chinese immigrants and extending restrictions to other Asian immigrant groups.”
Wikipedia, Chinese Exclusion Act.”

The reasons for passing the Immigration Act of 1924 were virtually identical to the ones given today:

The fear foreigners would take away jobs from Americans

The fear of terrorism from Bolsheviks, among others

The fear American culture and values would be undermined

“Proponents of the Act sought to establish a distinct American identity by favoring native-born Americans over Jews, Southern Europeans, and Eastern Europeans in order to “maintain the racial preponderance of the basic strain on our people and thereby to stabilize the ethnic composition of the population”… People who supported the 1924 Immigration Act often used eugenics as justification…”

The confused response by conservatives on WB reflects the confused response by the Trump administration. It takes three broad forms:

1) Separating migrant children from their parents is the Democrat’s fault. (Trump)

2) Denial (Nielson)

3) Deterrence (Sessions)
