Dagnabit! I Missed It!

I missed the debate! OMG!

I tuned in right at the end. I got to see the last 20 seconds of the debate.

What did I miss?

I am in a total news lockdown until I hear about what you saw last night.

I didn’t see it and I want your opinion of it.

What happened?

Donald Trump lost his stamina about 40 minutes in and went into full tilt. He threatened to uproot the norms upon which our Republic is prefaced including the rule of law.

Definitive win for HRC. Both had their moments, but as the night wore on and she pressed his buttons, he once again took the bait. By the end, he was rambling, overly aggressive, and kept interrupting. He called her “a nasty woman,” and that resonated on social media with the females. They did not like that. He called candidates for deportation “bad hombres,” and apparently a lot of latinos took offense. Trump had some good moments, and there were other times where he failed to take advantage of opportunities. CNN polling gave it to HRC 52 - 39. Various focus groups overwhelmingly gave it to her too, although I never have bought the basic premise behind those groups.

But none of that matters. Trump said he would not commit to accepting the outcome of the election. Game, set, match. The moderator gave him a chance to clarify, and Trump would not. It was such a thoroughly… un-American, undemocratic, “horrifying” statement, the unwillingness to concede should he lose. That is what will be remembered.

YouGov poll:
HRC won 49 -39

phx8 quotes a poll from CNN a network that has been in the tank for Clinton from day one and even after the Debate the pollster says that the poll is from a predominately Democrat audience. I really don’t care who won the Debate because IMO neither one of these overrated idiots deserve the title POTUS.

KAP,
The idea that one candidate or the other ‘won’ the debate is a little silly in the first place. However, those polls do tell us something interesting. Due to partisanship, many will believe their own candidate did better, regardless of the circumstances. The debate polls show HRC winning by 10- 13 points, and if those polls reflect nothing but pure partisanship, it means HRC will win the election by a similar margin.

The overall impression of the debate will be that HRC won, because the one memorable moment came when Trump declared he might not concede if he lost. People are horrified.

His surrogates immediately tried to walk it back, but it is too late.

Trump has said Hillary Clinton should not be allowed to run in the first place, that if she won he would not concede, and if he wins, he will “lock her up.”

He’s done. Stick a fork in it.

Trump rambled a couple times, and Hillary stumbled for words more than a couple of time.
Trump said he is pro 2nd Amendment and would appoint SC Justices who respect the 2nd Amendment. Hillary claimed to be pro 2nd Amendment, lied about the supposed ‘gun show’ and ‘online’ loopholes, and then gave her reasons for dismantling it.
Both proved that they had no clue about what should be done about Syria.
Trump still wants tougher immigration reform. Hillary still wants lax immigration rules and a pathway to citizenship.
Trump will cut your taxes. Hillary will give you free schooling from Pre-K and through college.
Trump will repeal the ACA. Hillary will grow it.
Trump still says the women are lying about what happened 20-30 years ago. Hillary blamed espionage to detract from the content of the Wiki leaks.

Both candidates did a decent job on getting their message out.

On the hyperbole front:

Trump said some of the illegal aliens are “bad hombres.” It has been proven as fact that some illegal aliens engage in criminal behavior.
Trump said he would not concede defeat until after he has seen the results. Seeing how Hillary supporters have been whining for the past 16 years about Bush being illegitimate because of the ‘rigged’ ‘stolen’ election of 2000, their trying to make something out of this is ridiculous.
Hillary said toddlers with guns are killing people. She was clearly referring to to toddlers and accidental shootings.

kctim,
“Trump said he would not concede defeat until after he has seen the results. Seeing how Hillary supporters have been whining for the past 16 years about Bush being illegitimate because of the ‘rigged’ ‘stolen’ election of 2000, their trying to make something out of this is ridiculous.”

Not the same. The 2000 election went to a recount according to FL state law. That is how our system works. It ended in the SCOTUS, when the court overruled further FL recounts. When it was legally over, Gore conceded.

Trump is stating BEFORE the election happens that it is rigged, and that he may not accept the result. He is making charges about a rigged election with no evidence whatsoever, and that undermines the democratic process. In addition, he is blaming the media for the problem, but media bias is a different issue.

We have not seen this since the election of 1860. A bedrock principle of our democracy is the acceptance of an election’s outcome. Whining about losing is fine. Refusing to accept a legal outcome and the legitimacy of an incoming government is quite a different thing.

It is a big deal.

Phx8,

In case you haven’t noticed the election has not yet occurred, so claims that Trump is “refusing to accept a legal outcome and the legitimacy of an incoming government” is nothing but hyperbole.
There is absolutely no doubt that the left would scream ‘I’m with her’ if Hillary came out tomorrow and said she also will not concede until she is satisfied with the results.

If by some miracle Hillary does not win the election, she will NOT concede until she has seen the results and is satisfied with them. Her unwillingness to state that up front does not somehow make it different.

There actually is evidence of dirty election politics and media bias, you just refuse to accept it because it is benefiting your candidate in this election. Any other time you have no problem shouting about supposed voter suppression, Diebold or whatever machines, and how one sided FOX is.

The only “big deal” about this election is IF Hillary would be to lose. The screams of a rigged election and the rioting and violence that would follow would make Ferguson look like child’s play.

phx8, As I said NEITHER of those 2 IDIOTS deserve the title POTUS. This election is not who is best for the country it is an election for the lesser of 2 evils. As for the debate to me it was just another “MUD WRESTLING” show.

I’m caught up now. I watched the debate, compliments of Fox News.

All I can say generally is, “I’ve heard it all before.” Both, in the last debates, and over the last 40 years. I’ve heard it all before.

One thing that stands out that amazed me was Hillbilly’s statement that she won’t raise taxes on “people making under $250,000 a year”. I’ve heard that one before and it was a lie then. It doesn’t help her image to say it now and not be thought of as lying again.

Her stretch by saying 90% of the CF money goes to projects is laughable. Either she’s lying about that or she is really bad at math. How can 90% go to projects when 60% goes to wages and travel expenses?

She also supported the Iraq invasion all the way to the end.

One other comment she made was telling about what her idea of the future would be. She, for some reason, used a figure of 20 trillion increase in debt if Trumps plan is put into play. Why 20 trillion? She is saying a Trump presidency will double the national debt! How does she come up with that figure? Was she actually referring to the Obama debt increases? Perhaps that is the figure she wants to see our national debt at!

As far as who “won”, it’s in the eye of the beholder. They both won. Numbers mean nothing.

There’s only one rational choice for president, that would be the person who has given over 30 years of public service to this country, Hillary Clinton. I have always admired her ability to suffer the aspersions cast against her, fight for what she believes in and come out on top. This ability will serve us all well if she is elected as our president.

My grandson(9 years old) told me a frightening story about what he has heard at school. Other children are saying that if Trump is elected, he will force all immigrants(even those that have attained citizenship and those with green cards) to return to their country of origin. I tried to explain to him that this simply cannot happen due to the laws of our country. While I may have allayed his immediate fears, he still has concerns because his mother was born in Wales. I spent many hours at the American Embassy in London to make certain that my daughter had full rights of citizenship and she does.

I hope everyone of you xenephobic creeps realize what you are doing to the most impartial and vulnerable members of our country, our children. I will continue to re-inforce my grandson’s belief that he lives in the greatest and most exceptional country in the world. Although I am concerned that the power of peer pressure has great influence. I do not hate Mr. Trump as so many here have expressed the hate towards Mrs. Clinton, I do however hold great animosity towards him, his supporters and their wonton disregard for the rules of our society in their zeal to diminish us all by injuring these, the most vulnerable among us, with rhetoric that has no place in politics let alone the playgrounds of our schools. It is truly deplorable.

Why would someone say that about Trump if they were a supporter of Trump, Speak4all? You say these people are scaring the children, you point out they are using falsehoods to do it. Yet you think they’re Trump supporters! Why would a Trump supporter talk ill of Trump?

I think you, by your own words, are accusing the left of scaring the children!

I’ll try to put this in terms you can understand however I have great doubts that I will have any success.

These are other children telling him that, because of the ridiculous rhetoric used by Trump and some of his supporters. As a child they don’t realize that our country is made up completely of immigrants except for native Americans. Your wont to turn this into left vs right doesn’t mean squat to them and him.

Go ahead and help Trump turn a future generation into waiting vessels of democratic and progressive political ideas. To them it is pretty easy to see who the bad guys are and that will stick with them for a very long time.

And who is telling those Children those things that Trump will deport. I’ll tell you Speaks, It’s ignorant adults who hear BS coming from the MSM especially the liberal MSM that will say anything to help DemocRATS even if it is misleading and false. Yes we are a country of immigrants, LEGAL immigrants, emphasis on LEGAL.

I’m not an immigrant. My father isn’t an immigrant, his father wasn’t an immigrant. I’m not an immigrant and I’m tired of people using that as a lame excuse to shut down discussion.

Uhmm OK, it is someone else’s fault that Trump and his supporters use wild rhetoric that to some children seems to be negative towards immigrants?

Yeah sure, even you should be able to see that through your partisan blinders. Now don’t try to claim you are not partisan, you wore that out a long time ago.

How about the DemocRAT MSM speaks, are you saying that everything that comes out of it is Gospel truth? Are you saying that Hillary hasn’t told a few whoppers in her time? We have 12 million illegals in this country and it would be impossible to deport them all but don’t you think it is unfair to the people who are trying to enter legally and preference is given to those 12 million ILLEGALS? By the way I already voted and it wasn’t for either Idiot Trump or Idiot Hillary.
