I’m glad to see that the Hollywood liberals are still writing entertaining stories.

It’s obvious you didn’t watch the video.

I wouldn’t have said the plot was entertaining unless I genuinely believed it. Of course I watched it and I definitely enjoyed seeing the Jazz Katz become the Back Beat Piano bar. Those Hollywood scriptwriter sure know their craft.

You see Willie, there’s your problem. You think “Reality Shows” are real.

Then they certainly know the Democratic mentality! They hit it right on the head.

Feel good Democratic feels sorry for people, creates a program to “help” them.

People being “helped” take advantage of the program/Democratic.

Program goes broke.

Capitalist comes in and sets it on the right path.

Omar Epps Hopes to Battle ‘Pandemic’ of Absent Fathers in America with Documentary

Here’s a reality show worth mentioning. I wonder how long it will take the 20 year rape charges to show up.

Willie,

You truly have no idea.

The drama (the reality) is scripted into these shows, and that’s the hook. The money is made back in spades by the advertising.

And if you don’t get that you’re more of a sucker than I thought.

Yes, it was quite nice to see the charitable Jon Taffer offer his consultation services to Tamika free of charge. It’s always great to see people offering second chances to people who may not deserve them. Of course, it’s sad when the hand out fails to provide its intended affect, but that’s life.

Yea, it’s too bad when a plan based on a bad premise goes belly up. She started the business as therapy for loosing her daughter. She also thought she was “helping” her employees by hiring basket cases and by keeping them on even after they stole from her. People should take all that into account.

And yes, I’m well aware the whole series is intended to advertise Taffer’s products as well as others. I’m not stupid. His benevolence is obvious. The difference between Taffer and the jazz club lady is Taffer does it to make money. The bar lady did it because she thought she was “helping” herself and others. She should have just given her money to some soup kitchen.

I remember watching a marathon of Reality TV when I was in college, in fact, the first of its kind, “The Real World.” It was entertaining and engrossing at first, but then I began to realize that the “reality” of Reality TV tended to get compromised by the heavy presence of the production crew, and the knowledge each of them had that they could just pour out their particular view.

It’s as artificial in its own way as studio-produced acted drama. Only, it gets marketed as reality.

Question: how did you get the file? MKV is often used on files that get torrented.

My computer blocks that file in the original post, so I’m not going to bother with it. “Reality TV” has turned into “structured reality.” I used to watch all those shows from the UK, which were entertaining, but the producers clearly have an agenda of creating and perpetuating their own “stars”. I never found the US versions entertaining, especially the one involving Drumpf.

The uploaded file is undoubtedly pirated, but I am guessing WW just got a link from a right-wing blog or chain email.

Speaking of “scripted reality”, here’s a tasty treat courtesy of Slate’s Seth Stevenson:

He Likes to Keep “a Fat Guy” Around

“There was a fat contestant who was a buffoon and a fuckup,” recalls the midlevel producer. “And he would fuck up week after week, and the producers would figure that he’d screwed up so badly that Trump would have to fire him. But Trump kept deciding to fire someone else. The producers had to scramble because of course Trump can never be seen to make a bad call on the show, so we had to re-engineer the footage to make a different contestant look bad. Later, I heard a producer talk to him, and Trump said, ‘Everybody loves a fat guy. People will watch if you have a funny fat guy around. Trust me, it’s good for ratings.’ I look at Chris Christie now and I swear that’s what’s happening.”

You guys are missing the point.

The lady said she started the business for therapy!!

Then she gave jobs to people because she felt sorry for them!!!

Then they took advantage of her and stole from her!!!

That whole episode, not the tv episode, her episode flat out mimics Democratic’s social programs!!! You name it! Welfare? the same. Obamaphone? The same. Medicaid? The same. The list goes on and on and they all have the same characteristics of this lady’s business model.

Like how Republicans let the rich rob the US Treasury with their profligate tax breaks?

Why do you always conveniently forget the fact that the rich are the ones who put the money into the Treasury, Warren Porter?

There are times when it is appropriate to increase the debt (such as during a recession). There are times when it is appropriate to decrease it (Now).

Royal,

Well, Bush increased the national debt by a whopping 101% during his terms. But, the real prize goes to Ronald Reagan who increased the national debt during his terms by 186%.

Three years ago I get a knock on the door. I open it and there is a snail, so I pick it up and throw it just as hard as I could. That was three years ago.

Yesterday, I get a knock on the door and I open it and there’s that snail. He looks up at me and says, “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ALL ABOUT?!!”
