More See The Money Influence As A Bad Deal

A long opine in today’s WaPo re ‘subduing pessimism’ alluding to the idea that ‘Washington is broken’ and how to regain partisanship in congress.

The article rattles on about a "Johnson-Crapo" bill that just might break the deadlock and restore congress to, whatever. . .

Ain't going to happen. The problem isn't pessimism or gridlock, etc. It's Corpocracy, pure and simple.

A Harvard fello, Lawrence Lessig, was on CNN's GPS program this morning and he agrees with me. Well, not on the Corpocracy bit, but that the wealthy have undue influence over the goings on in congress .

He stated that something like .05% of campaign donors make up the larger share of all donations and related his very strong feelings that this was having a corrupting effect on the Republic, democracy and so on - - -

I came across a url where Lessig is proposing/pushing a 'super-pac' designed to target small donors in large numbers to offset the corrupting effect of a minority of donors making the larger donations. Also noted other url's citing George Soros and maybe the Koch Bro's in espousing a desire to do something to circumvent the serious effect of Citizens United.

While I admire Lessig's correctly recognizing the problem and the hard work he has put in towards a solution, I don't believe a super pac is going to hack it.

Not to belabor the issue; how long would it take for the 'money influence' to co-opt the operation of the super pac? Little more than a NY minit, pdq, IMO.

Nope, It's going to take a 3rd party w/a/dif/pol/att, founded in rules to prevent cooption and so on - - -

Otherwise - - -

Government is For-Sale.
However, interestingly…the Democraps outspent Repugnicans and it didn’t matter this election.
Unfortunately, it won’t take long before voters are pissed-off again and punish the In-party and flip-flop to the out-party again.
Too bad voters won’t consider other parties on the ballots.
