Third Party & Independents Archives

$More $Moneey 2

From a WP article we learn that a DC executive, caught up in carrying out a secret financial campaign for mayoral candidate, Vincent Gray (2010), also financed an independent campaign for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential run.

Jeffery Thompson spent more than half a million on election support for Hillary. He allegedly passed $608k thru a New York marketing exec in supporting Clinton's campaign in Texas and at least three other states. Thompson allegedly funneled money from two of his companies through a third business, Belle International.

No evidence to show that Thompson or the marketing exec disclosed the support to the FEC as required. And, we know that corporations really can't fund political campaigns as they are just people.

Posting this just to suggest that we can't be sure how candidates are chosen and elected and re-elected. And, makes the point that Corpocracy works all angles, from small to large.

Roy the game is rigged, it takes big money to gain office. For all this guys efforts Hillary still didn’t get the dems nod as the candidate.

Both parties just sway the laws to their best interest, like the state repubs in many states are currently doing with voter laws.

J2, wouldn’t it be interesting to have an election where big money was sidelined? No doubt we would have a whole new list of characters getting elected.

But, we’ll have to wait on a new 3rd party w/a/dif/pol/att, etc, before we can have such an election.

As to voter ID; some 20 states already have photo-voter ID laws. I believe the election system would be improved through photo ID requirements.

If it should turn out to be otherwise then, I would expect the courts would be used to correct the situation.

I do believe that, given the opportunity, people will try anything to advance their position, legal or otherwise. I see a photo ID card as a way of minimizing voter fraud.

Let’s keep the ID card and do away with gerrymandering. Let each county tally their votes and electronically send the tally to the state.

Which is more corrupting J2, gerrymandering or the ID card?

But politicians still enjoy 85% to 90+% re-election rates.

The majority of voters is the problem.

Responsibility   = Power  +  Virtue  +  Education  +  Transparency  +  Accountability

Corruption, Pain, and Misery   = Power   -  Virtue   -   Education  -   Transparency  -   Accountability

At any rate …

d.a.n, can’t fool me. Trying to come up under an alias name!
You must be part of that Texas conspiracy out there trying to suck all the corporations out to the Lonestar.

Well, Weiner and Spitzer didn’t make it. And, a couple of dems in Colorado who signed up for gun control were recalled. O’Reilly thinks voters are maybe wising up, had enough, etc. Real voters are outnumbered by folks who want stuff from the gov’t.

I see where Calif has passed legislation to provide drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. In several states one can be registered to vote if you have a valid drivers permit.

IMO, the NAU agreements are still a work in progress. The Corpocracy will continue to ‘creep’ immigration policy until it meets NAU guidelines. We’ve been told daily for years that ‘it’s impossible to send all those people home’, etc, while the immigrant is traveling back and forth across the border several times yearly. Issuing a drivers permit is just one small phase of the ‘creep’ mode.

Yeah. Some peoples’ rhetoric is as recognizable as their name or photo.

I used to think that corrupt government was the problem, and if enough people understood that corrupt government is largely due to it being perpetually rewarded with 85% to 90% re-election rates, people would question that practice.

However, it now seems very likely that the only thing that really discourages or decreases corruption and greed is the negative consequences that cause so much greed and corruption to finally become too painful.

A famous French economist wrote something to the effect:
When does the greed, legal plunder, and corruption finally end? Only when it becomes too painful.

Humans are not nearly as smart as they like to think they are, because the fact is, they are more like a virus, and as the world population reaches 20 billion and growing, that fact will become all too obvious.

Though the world population doubled in my lifetime (since 1957), I fortunately will not be around when the population doubles (or triples) again the same time span.

At any rate, the majority of voters have the government that they elect, and re-elect, … , and re-elect, at least, possibly, until repeatedly rewarding failure and FOR-SALE, incompetent, arrogant, and corrupt incumbent politicians with perpetual re-election finally becomes too painful.

And the majority of people of the world have the world they built.
