This will probably save a little bit of hassle on behalf of the law enforcement, but what are the chances that the consumption of marijuana decreases in Colorado and Washington because now it's legal. It's a scenario of reverse psychology. It's usual that a person tries smoking marijuana for their first time in their teens. You have parents, cops, and other authorities saying, "Don't do it. It's illegal." That sometimes can make them more curious and want to try it because it's forbidden. Now that it's not forbidden in Colorado and Washington, it will be interesting to see if any of the problems associated with marijuana actually decrease, or if fewer teens try the drug because now it's allowed and they don't want to.

There are several potential outcomes of the legalizing the recreational use of marijuana. Some may be good and others may be bad. What are people expecting to happen now that it's legal in these two states?

Pot might be legal as far as the states of Colorado and Washington are concerned but it’s still against the federal law. And last time I checked federal law trumps state law which still makes it illegal, and both states law enforcement are duty bound to enforce it.

Oh, come on, Ron ….sneaking into the country illegally is a Fed crime, too. The Fed’s diligence in enforcing the law is minimal at best. Don’t expect this to be any different.

Years ago, people drove to Colorado to get Coors. Young people in years past have taken trips into Amsterdam to smoke pot legally. They have had to now limit purchase to citizens, I believe.

I think CO will be overrun with pot smokers…especially if the law turns a blond eye…and they will.

Of course law enforcement will turn a ‘blond’:) eye to pot. They turn a blind eye to a lot of other things, so why not pot? The Feds ain’t much interested in enforcing the law there either. But that still doesn’t relieve them of the duty to enforce laws against pot.
Coors wasn’t illegal East of the Mississippi by federal law. Coors chose not to pay the state taxes East of the river so it was only illegal in those states. And if they caught you with it in one of those state you went to jail.
I think Co is already overrun by pot smokers from what I’ve seen out of some of the folks on the road with CO tags.
