Documenting the 'Undocumented'

Illegal immigration is a serious issue this country faces that politicians aren’t really breaking any ground on. The Governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer, has made an attempt to protect the porous border of Arizona with the SB-1070 bill, however has been brutally scrutinized for the efforts. The reality is there are millions of undocumented immigrants in the United States. If we can’t deport them, then we should at least document them.

A pathway to citizenship may be the best initial approach to documenting illegal aliens in the United States. The first step to this procedure is providing the ability for them to receive a temporary work visa. There are a couple benefits to this offering. For starters, it allows them to work legally, but they also will pay income taxes. Additionally, the visa application process would generate billions of dollars. Lastly, the visa process would ensure that the undocumented become documented.

As a result of this documentation, the now legal immigrants are required to be law-abiding residents in this country. Consequently, if they continue a life of black market labor, or criminal activity they face the ultimate sacrifice of deportation. If the illegal immigrants could get rid of the fear hanging over them and work legally, it could drastically reduce the level of crime in communities dense with illegal immigrants, such as Arizona.

Unfortunately, there has not been any action taken in the direction to change the illegal immigration problem in this nation. Other than Governor Brewer's attempt, nothing else has been done. So you may not like her approach, but at least she's trying to document some of the undocumented. Also, it's not an option to "give" visas to illegal immigrants. They've been give then opportunity to stay in this country on a probationary program. The visas processes must be paid for. Americans have to pay $110 for a passport to leave the country. It would be completely unjust to offer the pathway to citizenship without charge.

So, you want another amnesty program like Reagan’s in the 80s. Good luck with that!

Open the doors. Make citizenship requirements absolutely minimal. Want an opportunity? Come to the United States. It won’t be easy. But we won’t let people starve or die of exposure, and again, it’s an opportunity. Take a chance. Come to America.

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me…”

If we can document them, we can deport them.

I say offer illegal aliens amnesty and thousands of dollars per person, then quietly deport them when they come to collect.
And anybody caught enabling them should be required to help pay down what they drain from taxpayers.

Illegal aliens and their enablers are criminals and should be treated as criminals.

MM, you can put lipstick on the pig, as SD did in the left column recently, and you are still stuck with the pig and all that entails.

I don’t doubt your good intentions for a minute. But, if you dig in and pull the scab off it ain’t near the ‘yearning to be free’ as much as it is Corpocracy acting in their full blown attempt to break the back of the middle class, get wages down to where the US can compete in the global economy.

Illegal immigration is synonymous with growing roses in a cess pool. Some tautology –

There are some 25-30M citizens who are un-underemployed looking for jobs where there are few.

The State Dept regularly brings in 100k foreign young people for ‘summer jobs’.

Asian ladies fly in to the west coast, have their baby as a US citizen, and return home.

I’m sure the US is at the top of the pack in making folks dual citizens.

Border hospitals spend big on free hospitalization/care for illegal immigrants.

If an illegal wants to work legally the State Dept issues an IFN, same as a SSN to the worker. No need for citizenship to pay taxes. Many of these folks making big claims on tax forms such as claiming child dependents who are children of foreign family members living outside the US. Can be up to $40 grand per or something like that.

If things get hot south of the border where do the wealthy drug chieftans go to hang out? Miami, Chicago, or most any where stateside where they feel secure, know they are protected by law, can’t be asked about their origin, tortured, tried twice, etc.

Just doesn’t have the smell of ‘yearning to breathe free’ etc. Has the feel and touch of Corpocracy (gov’t&commerce) tag teaming on the working class in pursuit of the cheapest labor to be found.

Just the nature of the beast. I’m sure if I were a hooitie tooite CEO or an elected legislator I would take advantage of whatever loopholes were available to me, work to create others, revolving door politics, etc.

We can’t have a balanced immigration policy until we can remove the money influence from gov’t/politics. The next thread down gives some good examples of Corpocracy and how we might deal it.

Otherwise, we have the Corpocracy we deserve.

Aren’t more illegal immigrants leaving the country than are coming here now? I thought that has been the trend for 4 or 5 years.

Xplane yoreself, dbs. There hasn’t been any enforcement of immigration law, other than media show, since when - - 1950 or so?

The Regan era promised to trade an amnesty for enforcement but the Corpocracy rolled us over.

It’s clear, the 545 have no interest in controlling immigration. They have in fact implemented much of the NAU while pandering to the public re the issue. Seems the voters aren’t too interested in a solution either, willing to let the 545 sort it out.

But, just to say that enforcing labor law will solve the immigration problem seems a bit lame, IMO. In some way we have to focus the 545 on following the Constitution, as they swore they would in their oath of office.

Think 3rd party, abolishing corporate personhood, CFR reform and so on - - -

Otherwise - - -

It’s the truth. What’s lame about that? The fact our gov’t doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude, or the will to do it doesn’t make it any less true. Are you saying it wouldn’t work? What’s lame is believing some magic third party can change anything. All a third party does is swing the balance to one party or another depending on who they siphon votes from.

dbs, the 545/Corpocracy will tell you right now that they are enforcing labor laws, holding employers accountable, pushing E-verify and all that. They are telling you, you’ve got what you want. While in the background the 545 are busy working to implement NAU policy. It’s been some 30 years since Regan’s amnesty and I see nothing in the future but more open border policy.

IMO, the citizen/voter has two paths that can lead to REAL reform. One path is Article V Convention. But, that path is summarily blocked by the 545, each having sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution.

The second and most expedient/efficient path is thru a new 3rd party with a different political attitude. I’m certainly not interested in just another third party for the very reason you gave. But, I do believe it is very possible to bring up a 3rd party, founded in some rules, that would be very effective in shunting the money influence/special interest in the party and gov’t/politics. Members would be required to serve as oversight for members elected to office. Members would believe in, and have confidence in such a party and would therefore, be willing to participate in party business via their internet site.

Today, parties are like political polls and/or think tank/research reports. Today, fish is good for you. Tomorrow it’s, fish will cause cancer, etc. No one knows what to believe and therefore, tune out and turn off.

Evan Bayh, retired Senator, said as late as yesterday, that money in politics and gov’t has served to pigeonhole the general populace.

For any REAL change to take place we have to win our constitutional right to AVC and/or stand up a 3rd party impervious to special interest/money influence.

Otherwise, we have the Corpocracy we deserve.

For the past three years, baby boomers are retiring at a rate of 10,000 a day and will be doing so for 19 years.

Through a combination of procrastination and bad timing, many baby boomers are facing a personal finance disaster just as they’re hoping to retire. Starting in January, more than 10,000 baby boomers a day will turn 65, a pattern that will continue for the next 19 years.

Even the liberal Huffington Post reported in 2011, a drop in the work force due to people leaving, and nothing has changed over the past two years.

How could a person honestly believe that Social Security is solvent?

Faithful devotees on the Left continue to peddle the notion that Social Security is not in crisis, that it doesn’t contribute to the deficit, and there is no need for reform. However, reading through this year’s just-released Social Security Trustees report, the annual “State of the SSA”, we find that the Trustees tell a different narrative — one that is grim indeed. The following primer pulls directly from the report and then explains the statement in layman’s terms. It is copied text from summary of the entire report.

">http://www.redstate.com/alanjoelny/2013/06/04/debunking-the-myth-of-social-security-solvency/”> What it actually says:

“Social Security’s total expenditures have exceeded non-interest income of its combined trust funds since 2010, and the Trustees estimate that Social Security cost will exceed non-interest income throughout the 75-year projection period”.

It doesn’t even sound logical to say that a work force that is dropping, and a work force that is increasingly making less money, could possibly support twenty plus years of increasing retirees who are drawing SS.
