Rosie vs. 'The Donald'
That was good.
Just saw the clips on ‘Anderson Cooper 360’.
It’s too bad the transcript isn’t up yet.
The perfect pair to 'have it out' on the airwaves.
Rosie O'Donnell started it.
She went off about Miss USA keeping her crown.
Running her mouth and making statements that were not entirely factual about Donald Trump. Picking on his hair (like everyone does) and saying he has gone bankrupt a couple hundred times - among other things.
Donald responds, in his 'I don't take no crap' way, and basically calls Rosie an idiotic fatass.
He was asked if he would sue Rosie -- he said he may because he'd "like to take some money away from her fat ass".
Hillarious. I had to laugh.
I don't have a lot of use for either one, but, when it comes to these two duking it out - I have to side with 'The Donald'. Rosie may have made the mistake of her life.
IMHO, I believe Rosie is taking her freedom of speech a little far these days and she should really back off of people unless she has cold hard facts.
Here's the link to 'AC360' transcripts. Hopefully the details will be online soon.
I'd like to know where they got these clips because I can't find them.
Well, Barbara Walters should have done what she did for Hillary and told the “girls” to not pull any of “that” because the Clinton advisers have advised them that it “just shouldn’t happen”.
I believe that is the politicians telling the far left to “be quiet” and don’t cause me any media headaches.
Coverage of stupid, ridiculous stories like these are why I can’t stand the twenty four hour news stations.
Posted by: Richard Rhodes at December 21, 2006 04:25 AMThe media loves this sort of crap.
Crap is King.
Two of the same feuding in public.
The media will run it into the ground.
I wish the media would do more investigative research and reporting. There are so many important issues that the media ignores.
Have you ever heard the news person telling you to stay tuned for news about a disaster, and saying you will see it here first?
Don Henley’s song, “Dirty Laundry” says it best …
- I make my living off the evening news,
Just give me something, something I can use,
People love it when you lose, they love dirty laundry
Well, I could’ve been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don’t have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry
Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em all around
We got the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde, comes on at 5
She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It’s interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry
Can we film the operation? Is the head dead yet?
You know the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
Get the widow on the set, we need dirty laundry
You don’t really need to find out what’s going on
You don’t really want to know just how far it’s gone
Just leave well enough alone, keep your dirty laundry
Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down
Kick ‘em when they’re stiff, kick ‘em all around
Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody’s pie
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry
We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing
When it’s said and done, we haven’t told you a thing
We all know that crap is king, give us dirty laundry
Love that song!!!
This is why so many people have no interest in finding out what is really going on in the world. Unless it’s a scandal, a dog stuck on a block of ice, or a cat up a pole…
‘National News’ - WHAT is that????
Brittany didn’t wear panties -
Paris was most googled name of the year -
It’s snowing in Colorado - now that’s breaking news…
Time magazine made all of us ‘Person of the Year’ at the same time a story came out that people are less interested in blogging.
‘Get off it already’ is usually what I am saying on a daily basis.
It is people like Rosie that help to keep the less important crap spewing out of the mouths of the so called reporters.
Now we have a congressman who is being bashed because he ‘represented the views’ of his constituents. People who are not happy about a swaring in on a Koran.
Another congressman is defending the use of the Koran - why? - because MOST of his voters are Muslim. I’ll bet he is fuming when out of the sight of a camera.
Instead of telling the REAL story of why we will be overrun by the newcomers to our nation … we have to hear about someone’s choice to not wear panties -and make it known to the world.
Posted by: dawn at December 21, 2006 10:32 AMDawn, I think it has more to do with Viacom, G.E., Disney, News Corp and Time Warner. This is synchronisity at it’s best. All the news that fattens the bottom line.
Personally, I’m fine with cute people not wearing panties, just don’t show me the ugly ones.
Posted by: gergle at December 21, 2006 12:38 PMWhat? Brittany don’t wear no underwear? Ma get the shotgun, the worlds going to hell in a hand basket.
Donald Trumps hair looks funny? Gee, we’re already in hell.
Rosie don’t like it because Miss USA gets to keep her crown? Who cares.
And in the mean time our politicians are robbing us blind, the national debt is out of control, as is deficit spending, our boarders aren’t even close to secure, the educational system is broke almost beyond repair, and the media isn’t even giving any of it a ‘by the way’.
Then folks wonder why the empire is on the decline.
Dawn,
Yes, it’s ridiculous isn’t it.
BTW, I agree … The Donald and Rosie O’Donnell are both full of themselves, but Rosie is actually committing slander if her facts are false, and she’ll lose if it ever makes it to court (as if our court systems need to be bogged down with more ridiculous minutia … doesn’t that cost tax payers?).
I’d like to see the media (such as Jack Cafferty and Lou Dobbs) continue to report on truly important issues facing the nation, and keep asking why the “Do-Nothing Congress” (as Jack Cafferty calls it) continue to ignore these problems year after year and decade after decade.
Something started to go terribly wrong in this nation around 1980 (maybe sooner), but many things with regard to the nation’s fiscal picture appear to have started deteriorating around that time. The nation is swimming in debt. Is any other nation like this? Even in Japan, the people had savings. They were good savers.
At any rate, the media rarely focuses on important issues. Are most people really more interested in listening to a feud between Rosie and Donald, or how their severely bloated government is heaping astronomical debt onto future generations and threatening the future and security of the nation? If so, then it’s all too clear why we are destined to learn the hard way (again).
Posted by: d.a.n at December 21, 2006 12:47 PMRon Brown,
You’re right.
There is a decline, but the administration keeps saying everthing is “good” or “very good”.
A few cherry picked statistics don’t show the real picture. How long can all the debt, spending, borrowing, war, and money-printing continue. It can last a long time, and we have been crappin’ in our own nest for a long time, but when the bough it all rests upon finally snaps, we should not be surprised … not at all.
Gergle,
Don’t tell me you think Brittney is still cute…
And I think Rosie is just jealous that she didn’t get to “make out” with the Miss’s…

They show us stories like these ALL DAY long and since that is all we know — it becomes ‘the most clicked on story of the day’ —
We should be receiving REAL news via the boob tube so people can at least have a chance to become interested in something else …. people don’t want to go on the internet and research the real news themselves….
Here’s one I hadn’t heard…. was checking on the spelling of his name.
Final Results of Iranian Elections Confirm Gains for Moderates
Imagine how fast we’d have heard if Ahmadinejad was photographed sticking his tongue down another man’s throat -
Who cares?
But Dawn, you’re contradicting yourself. You said:
“That was good.”
And:
“Hillarious. I had to laugh.”
But now you say:
“We should be receiving REAL news via the boob tube so people can at least have a chance to become interested in something else”
Are you saying that while you watched and enjoyed this garbage, you were simultaneously disapproving of it?
“IMHO, I believe Rosie is taking her freedom of speech a little far these days and she should really back off of people unless she has cold hard facts.”
Yeah well, that’s the thing about freedom of speech. Nobody gets to dictate to anyone else what is and isn’t acceptable, or going too far.
Posted by: Adrienne at December 21, 2006 01:23 PMDawn wrote: … people don’t want to go on the internet and research the real news themselves
Yeah, which supports my theory that we are in (4) and (5) of a cycle, and there have been signs of (1) (e.g. starting unnecessary wars, eminent domain abuse, Habeas Corpus, torture, fiscal and moral bankruptcy, constitution violations, corpocrisy & corporatism, government FOR-SALE, etc.).
In a voting nation, education is paramount.
I’m not sure it is my imagination or not, but I don’t think the younger generations are getting much of an education. If our future is our youth, we are in big trouble. The complacency, apathy, massive personal debt, and lack of education is worrisome.
But, we will eventually get the real sort of education that we badly need. We will get it one way or another, when what we are doing (or not doing) becomes too painful. Ironically, we create our own motivation. It takes a long time, but it is inevitable.
It almost appears that humans can not survive abundance and prosperity for long, without growing lazy and irresponsible.
At any rate, it is unfortunate for us that we are not in the best part of the cycle (a cycle that economist Harry S. Dent called the 80 year cycle).
Posted by: d.a.n at December 21, 2006 01:37 PMNo Adrienne - we have entertainment and tabloid shows where the Rosie and Donald fight would be better suited.
If it wasn’t what is perceived as national news these days … I may never have even known about it until someone asked me if I had heard.
‘Yeah well, that’s the thing about freedom of speech.’
What IS the definition of ‘Freedom of Speech’? Are there any rules that protect the target of ‘Freedom of Speech’?
Civil Court —-
JayTea,
If Britney is ugly, then I’d like your throw offs. I’m old and single, I’m available for sympathy. I can’t believe I even responded to that. I’ll pay repentance by watching 30 hours of Entertainment Tonight.
There are obvious limits to free speech.
If you slander someone, they may experience losses (sales, job, contracts, etc.).
The problem that Donald will have is proving damages.
And if you scream “FIRE” in a theatre, people could be trampled to death. The damages are more obvious.
“What IS the definition of ‘Freedom of Speech’? Are there any rules that protect the target of ‘Freedom of Speech’?
Civil Court —-“
Yeah, I suppose any and all criticism a person gets could be taken into civil court, but that seems rather stupid and egotistical to me. Especially of people who clearly enjoy being in the public eye and shooting their mouths off as much as Rosie and The Donald do.
As Jefferson said:
“When a man assumes a public trust he should consider himself a public property.”
Personally, I think the same could be said of media figures like those two.
Posted by: Adrienne at December 21, 2006 02:02 PMDawn,
As news this barely registers on my give a s**t meter.
Perhaps if the American public would pay less attention to this type of news and more attention to reality, this country wouldn’t be in the straits we’re in.

Any other recent stories like that come to mind?
Sticks and stones…
Rocky,
Most of us have been ‘conditioned’ to not pay attention to the REAL world and to stay in our own little happy space.
We have been taught not to get involved. Can’t even stop to help someone anymore without the threat of a law suit.
Why is this post posted here?… Seriously. WTF? And, Scottie… the Fox article…. That’s a real writer? He’s PAID to write like that?
This post is trash and should be deleted.
Posted by: Max at December 21, 2006 03:34 PMDawn,
I was taught from an early age to “dare to be different” by my teachers.
We were taught to discern the difference between objective and subjective.
“Most of us have been ‘conditioned’ to not pay attention to the REAL world and to stay in our own little happy space.”
Like ignorance of the law, there is no excuse for ignoring reality.
‘This post is trash and should be deleted.’

You mean yours Max?
Freedom of speech is an important issue.
What we are given as major national news stories … another big deal.
A spat between those two … not a big deal to me.
The fact that it is taking up 80% of the news coverage … big deal to me.
Using it to get people to discuss these issues … not a mistake.
I’m uncertain what makes this political, but I can speak to one thing: Since Trump is a celebrity and so is Rosie, both have to demonstrate that the other side maliciously said something untrue or neglected the facts. If I were to offer (and I’m not really saying these things seriously) That Donald Trump scraped what’s on top of his head off the road, and that I believe Rosie beeps when she walks backwards, neither can take action because these are merely my opinion. People are free to be snide, free to be assholes.
If I wrote up a story, though, alleging an illegal stock operation on Trump’s part, or that Rosie O’Donnell molests her kids, with no evidence or truth to either charge, that would be different. That would qualify as actionable defamation. Freedom of speech is no license for making up false crap about people.
Posted by: Stephen Daugherty at December 21, 2006 05:10 PMDawn-
I’m with you. I pretty much read it to be satire from the headline on down. I actually remember when Britney filed for divorce…there were kids text messeging themselves into a frenzy all over the campus I work at. I believe it was the same day when Rumsfeld “quit” … hardly a word from anyone under 40. Its sad.
But you know, freedom of choice, like all freedoms, is a double edge sword. You have to take the good with the bad. What caters to intelligence most likely makes most of its money by catering to the mindless reader. Its like sports and Michigan State. (No offense to Michigan State alumni, I’m sure you had a blast in college…I’m jealous)

I’ll pay repentance by watching 30 hours of Entertainment Tonight.
Don’t be so hard on yourself. 10 hours should drive ya totally insane.
Posted by: Ron Brown at December 21, 2006 11:40 PM‘I’m uncertain what makes this political,….’
Stephen,
Didn’t the Donald attempt to run for President of these United States? (Imagine the name-calling coming from the oval office - though many a good fight has created best of friends in the end.)
Don’t people ‘tune in’ to hear what ‘clever’ thing Rosie has to say?
They BOTH have a following - they BOTH have opinions on politics.
It’s sad that people who may actually vote… get their ideas - probably solely - from these two.
BTW - the category I placed this under (closest to a match) was Non-Partisan.
Posted by: dawn at December 23, 2006 12:20 AMCome on folks, everything doesn’t have to be so serious. Yeah, I know there are more important things going on in the world, but Rosie and Donald in the ring at Madison Square Garden would make both a fortune. Then, maybe they both would be happy.
Rosie runs her mouth becauase that is the way she has acquired attention- (money). That’s the way it’s going to be until people start ignoring her brainless rantings! She has to be the most intellectually challenged on the View. And as for Barbara Walters, she cringes just about every time Rosie opens her mouth anymore. I don’t watch the View regularly, and can’t watch it for more than about ten minutes. But the episodes I’ve seen have not provided anything substantial from Rosie, and if the other ladies weren’t so cowardice they would get rid of her and have someone like Ann Coulter to provide meaningful conversation with Barbara. I believe most women want substance in conversation. At the end of the show the other ladies probably just giggle at Rosie and make fun of her behind her back.
JD
Posted by: JD at December 30, 2006 02:28 PMJD,
Ann Coulter and meaningful in the same sentence? She’s as much an attention whore as Rosie and Donald.
Posted by: gergle at December 31, 2006 05:17 PMGergle,
Perhaps she craves attention, but at least you might get another “View”. Isn’t that what the show is called anyway? It would beat the bunch of girls on there now who simply respond to each other saying, “You’re right!”, “Oh, you’re so right, too.” “You’re just sooo smart.” “Why, thank you, so are you!” “I think we are all so smart!”, etc., etc., etc.!
Makes me want to puke!!!
