Gary Nolan wins California

Democrats weren’t the only candidates on the ballots yesterday. Libertarian primaries were held in California, where frontrunner Gary Nolan locked in his lead against competitors. Nolan garnered 59%, Aaron Russo trailed at 25% and Michael Badnarik at 17%.

The Libertarian Party Presidential Nominating Convention takes place May 27–31, 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia. Gary Nolan is expected to claim the nomination.

It will be interesting to see if Nolan has the ability to offer a dissent choice to conservative voters who are disenchanted with Pres. Bush’s performance.

The best part is that he has his very own presidential blog! I think this is an awesome idea, and I think every presidential candidate should have to maintain an online journal of uncensored thoughts… John Kerry’s Blog would no doubt contain many vague platitudes about “saving American jobs” and “wanting to provide for a better future” as well as links to Heinz Ketchup. Meanwhile, W’s blog would include entries like “Why wont Rove just let me sleep in?” and “Rumsfeld gives me the creeps”. Even better, the blog of Ralph Nader would go so far off the unintentional comedy scale that it would make Dikembe Mutombo look like George Will.

Don’t forget former Governor candidate Peter Camejo won the Green Party’s primary. Giving a large electoral bloc to a declared Nader supporter.

As for giving the Right a third party option, I’d watch out to see if Roy Moore(the “Ten Commandments Judge”) decides to accept the Constitution Party nomination.
