No endorsement by Green Party
The National Green Party clarifies Dennis Kucinich is not endorsed by the national Green Party. Some media have left the false implication that since a handful of individuals in New Hampshire endorsed Dennis Kucinich, all Green Party members endorse Kucinich. The fact is those endorsing individuals are not affiliated with the National Green Party and do not represent the views of the National Green Party.
The national Green Party includes 43 accredited state Green Parties, and will hold the party’s national convention in Milwaukee in June, 2004. The decision about whom, how, and whether to run a candidate in the 2004 national election will be made democratically by all the accredited state Green Parties at the Milwaukee convention.

Posted by: Anthony at November 2, 2003 01:42 AMIt seems like such a great shame that the momentum created by Nader’s campaign in 2000 is going to be lost by a hopelessly late start to this campaign. The money is out there, the goodwill is out there, and I suspect the right candidate is there as well. This is the year for the Greens to chase the magical 5%, and a year out from election day and I think they’ve already blown it.
Posted by: Ari at November 2, 2003 09:03 AMThe Green Party is starting it’s Presidential Campaign. It is just that, as usual, the major media doesn’t want to report it.
There are several announced Green candidates. At least four of them will be on the California Primary ballot, so that is a chance for deliberation and press.
The most exciting (new and big name) announced candidate is “Kent Mesplay” of Turtle Island Institute. Of course, there are draft Nader things going. And, recently, a rumor that Erin Brokovitch (activist, environmental lawyer) may run for Vice President, or may be drafted for President.
The Green Party is going strong. It is just that Kucinich, Howard, etc., have the power of money and influence to drown us out a little.
(And, yes, Nader is playing prima donna a little and making us wait. I heard now that he will say by January if he is running.
Great info on all these candidates and more at: www.politics1.com
So is Nader going to say that there is no difference between the US under GOP rule than DNC? I personally can’t wait to shame the Greens for handing 2000 to Bush. I have a carton of rotton eggs just waiting for him.
Posted by: Jake of 8bitJoystick.com at November 2, 2003 04:57 PMJake, Nader has already taken a pie. Although I am sure he would praise you for making use of eggs that surly would have filled our landfills.
Posted by: Lance T. Haun at November 3, 2003 12:34 AMI’ll make sure to use only non-free range hormone-filled genetically modified eggs
Posted by: Jake of 8bitjoystick.com at November 3, 2003 02:22 PMThe lack of cohesion between the Green Parties (yes, there are TWO national green parties) and between the national orgs and state orgs are preventing Greens from being truly relevant. I am a Green, but I’m disappointed with the petty infighting and “holier than thou” arguments. You’d almost think we were the Democrats.
