Will we open the door?
In a Green Party news release, the party calls on congress to deny President Bush’s request for an addition 87 Billion dollars to fund further efforts in Iraq. The Green Party asks that the money fund an “international effort for Iraqi security instead, and bring U.S. troops home by the holiday”.
“We’re alarmed by the bipartisan support for this occupation bill,” said Ben Manski, co-chair of the Green Party of the United States. “All of the Democratic frontrunners said they’d grant President Bush his request. This is money down the drain, with American and Iraqi lives lost in the interim. It’s time for Congress to live up to its constitutional obligations and tell the President no.”
It would appear that the door may exist which, if opened, could put an end to the body bags filled with Americans being returned home every week. The question is, does anyone in the Whitehouse and on Capital Hill, even see the door? And if they do, is their any political will to call for opening that door?
