Ambush's on American Forces Continue Apace...

It would seem that the Iraqi resistance didn’t receive the fax, or email from Rumsfeld that they were suppose to stop ambushing American soldiers now that Uday and Qusay Hussein have been terminated with extreme prejudice. Three more American soldiers from 101st Airborne Division, died overnight in an attack on their convoy at approximately 2:30am (I thought we owned the night). Hopefully, the next week will see the cessation of attacks upon our soldiers as the fax lines are restored and emails finally get through!

Will be interesting to see the impact this will have in November 2004. My experience tells me that the public’s memory is way too short. I hope that’s not the case here.

In the meantime, thanks for posting. I find it absurd that the same people who got it wrong once, are now claiming that the guerilla war will stop. You don’t need a degree in military history to see that it’s likely the opposite will occur.

And speaking of history, Wolfowitz ought to check his facts before making such a sweeping statement that this is the first time there have been contract killings during war. It’s so…American of him. We’re talking hundreds of years of precedent here.

Iraqis see themselves fighting two opposing groups, the remnants of Saddam’s Baathist Regime, and the occupying US forces. The irony is that the sooner we remove all traces of Saddam’s regime, the more the focus of attacks will be on American troops, which will increase in veracity given time.

It’s not that the Iraqis didn’t get the memo, it’s that they were never on our side to begin with.

I give it three months before the daily US body count starts hitting double digits on a regular basis.

Stephen, I hope the body count never reaches the double digits per day, and then it will be hard for the Bush Administration to deny that Vietnam II is in the making. Oh the lessons of history are oft lost on those with “C” averages, and no vision for the future of America, and no understanding of the American idea and principles!

Bill, I certainly haven’t forgotten, in fact the only time NEOCONS and war mongers seem to remember is when it’s time to throw it in everyone’s face as the raison d’entente for acting as policeman to the world. While we can debate all day the vast connections to 9/11, the fact is that the right has been the first to sweep intelligence failures, and any questions surrounding 9/11 under the rug.

In reality, 9/11 has become what you made of it, a day of death and distaster that is still surrounded by a fog of questions that are readily ignored in favor of holding up our plight in it’s singularity and belching “NEVER FORGET”. No, we won’t forget, just as we also refuse to forget the web of lies and misdeeds that proceeded 9/11 and continue to be swept aside. It’s a convenient mantra for those who would rather point out that we have a giant scar instead of saying the obvious, which is, that we ran headlong into a sword and now wonder why we are bleeding.
