TIA Refuses to Die

The secretive TIA (Total Terrorism Information Awareness) program is against the ropes this week as the Senate sought to remove all future funding to the agency. The Bush Administration lashed out against critics of the program and threatened to veto any defense bill that included the amendment to cut funding to the clandestine DARPA program, stating that it strips the government of “an important potential tool in the war on terrorism.”

The amendment would cut future spending unless repealed: “No funds appropriated or otherwise made available to the Department of Defense, whether to an element of [DARPA] or any other element…of the federal government, may be obligated or expended on research and development of the Terrorism Information Awareness program.”

On a related note, people have often made fun of how Bush pronounces terror as “terra”. I’ve come to the conclusion that it isn’t a mispronunciation, we’ve simply been misunderstanding. It’s not a War on Terror, but rather a War on Terra (e.g. the planet Earth). That seems to fit in more closely with the agenda of the Bush Administration.

i disagree but that IS funny. Thank god for the congress in this case. Until i see a candidate that is a TRUE conservative unlike bush (bigger GOVT etc.)i will have to vote for him. The alternative is socialism and gun control.
