Televangelist Pat Robertson Supports Liberia Tyrant

Pat Robertson, of “The 700 Club” infamy, supports a bloodthirsty Liberian despot and derided president Bush for not being Christian enough to support Liberian president Taylor. What could have caused such close Christian sentiments between this tyrant and Robertson? A qualifier would be that in February 2002, Taylor declared a national holiday and, according to news reports on Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network, prostrated himself on the stage, saying: “I am not your president. Jesus is!” But as with all politics, Christian oriented or not, the focus usually rests on the money trail, and Robertson is familiar with it’s landscape.

Robertson has a rich history with Taylor, including illegal investments in the country’s gold mining dating back to April 1999 (the contracts were not approved by Liberia’s congress per the country’s constitution). All diamond and gold exports have been sanctioned by UN countries since January of 2003; Taylor has been indicted by a United Nations-established tribunal for allegedly backing militias - funded largely by the sale of diamonds - that raped and maimed civilians during the civil war in neighboring Sierra Leone.

Hey Pat, you have some egg on your face. And blood on your hands.

Good call. Robertson deserves to be blasted for supporting Taylor. Right-wingers like Robertson and Falwell have always had a rather curious definition of what makes a person “Christian,” but this is indefensible.

With all due respect to Pat Robertson - instead of praying to God to remove the three justices who voted to decriminalize homosexuality, his precious time might be better spent praying to end his own prostate cancer, or at least allowing him to physically and mentally enjoy his remaining years on Earth.

It is my understanding that the recent Supreme Court decision to decriminalize homosexuality is the result of the increasing insight that those people are no more “criminal” than are heterosexuals or bisexuals.

I am not gay, but there are many people in my life who are gay and they’re more law- and God-abiding than those who blindly persecute them.

On what grounds does Robertson stand against homosexuals? Statistics have shown that perpetrators of abuses - mostly heterosexuals - were most likely themselves victims of abuse in their past. It seems that Robertson’s actions and beliefs are based on bigotry rather than on reality.

It could be, Pat Robertson, that God is concerned with matters much more PROFOUND than whether homosexuals or televangelists are bad people … .

Robertson, if anyone should retire from life, it is you. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, to pray that 3 justices fall ill, so you can accomplish what you want. I trusted you or Jesse Jackson. The first time I saw you and Jesse Jackson, I said to myself, there is the scum of the earth trying to pass themselves up as God’s messengers. Your association with Taylor of Liberia is a disgrace. All you have ever been interested in is power and greed, $1.7 billion dollars of it. Also, how are your race horses and mistresses doing? Just go away.

Pat Robertson preaches one thing and does another. Hey Pat, how about rendering unto Ceasear, those things that belong to Ceaser and unto God those things that belong to God? You know what they say; thou canst not serve two masters. Seems you gonna have to choose one or the other. What’s it going to be Pat? Jesus or blood diamonds? Remember; It would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Good Luck.
P.S. This is only a test.
