Just Kidding: Iraq War Not About WMDs

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R) came clean about the war against Iraq yesterday and stated that the war was not primarily about illegal weapons, stating that he was not suprised that weapons of mass destruction have not been found in Iraq. Pressed on the subject of the real cause, Frist offered this insight, “[…] to have him removed is something the American people want, they need and they feel much more secure with.”

So if you’re keeping score at home, this Republican leader is shying away from the perceived WMD threat and laying the blame for that nonsense, of all places, on the American public. He tried to salvage the argument by insisting that “The administration made decisions based on the very best intelligence that we have available today”. Today senator? Perhaps the senator is not up to date with the latest headlines that intelligence was distorted. Let’s not forget about such wonderful quotes of Sen. Frist in support of the war, “He [Saddam] has the capability today, in terms of his arsenal, to put the threat to Americans in the realm of reality”

Senator Bill Frist, you’ve been caught.
