You Want the Truth? You Can't Handle the Truth!

Bush is playing the blame game by accusing the Dems of “gutting” the intelligence corps and national defense that led to 9/11 and the problems we’re suffering from in the Middle East. For him, it’s always someone else who is causing the problems. Like the spoiled son he is, he will not take any responsibility for his failures and missteps.

His handlers have done their best to give him every opportunity for deniability of his failing policies on Afghanistan, Iraq, the UN debacle, the inability to find Osama and Saddam, the WMD scandal, the recession and jobless “recovery”, the myth of compassionate conservativism, his self described “uniter not a divider” persona, the farce of his No Child Left Behind educational policy, the Enron and corporate financial scandals, the trillion dollar deficits caused by his borrow and spend fiscal policy, the tax cut scam that benefitted his wealthy supporters and the so called “investigation” of 9/11 that Republicans continue to stifle. The list will continue to grow.

His handlers are carefully parsing his language to keep him from becoming a serial liar. No, he didn’t actually lie, but he didn’t tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Bush now “owns” the stalled economy, the rising quicksand in the Middle East, the loss of global comity and an increasingly restless home front. He’s the one responsible. He’s been president for more than two years and has a Republican congress and a conservative Supreme Court. The troubles we see, read and hear about are his and his administration’s alone. He cannot continue to blame the past and those who disagree with him for his mistakes.

I wish he would give us some kind of signal so we can determine when he’s telling the truth.

How about whenever he opens his mouth?

OK, that was an easy shot but someone had to say it.

Grover,

I wish I had written your piece. Right on!

By the way, there was a study of Bush’s lying “sign.” It had something to do with his upper lip twitching. I tried to catch it, but every speech I saw was all lies and no truth.

I figure it will be easier to find his “truth sign” if he ever goes back to telling the truth.

Thanks for all your kind comments. ButI’d really like to hear from Bush’s defenders. That’s if they can seriously defend his record.

He’s the master of his domain, the captain of the ship, the creamy smooth middle.

You would like a defense? How about you start by constructing a decent attack instead of the erroneous and opinionated refuse posted above.

“failing policies on Afghanistan, Iraq” – Nice opinion, no facts to substantiate claims.

“inability to find Osama and Saddam” – You think you could do better? Join the military instead of complain.

“the WMD scandal” – Direct quote from a white house memorandum in MARCH of 2002
http://www.fas.org/sgp/bush/wh031902.html

“Government information, regardless of its age, that could reasonably be expected to assist in the development or use of weapons of mass destruction, including information about the current locations of stockpiles of nuclear materials that could be exploited for use in such weapons, should not be disclosed inappropriately.”

You, some random guy in who knows where, isn’t important enough for such information because, guess what, YOU DON’T NEED TO KNOW.

“the recession” – Check this quote out from CNN Money in August of last year.

“The current Bush administration’s claim that it inherited a recession from Clinton became somewhat more credible last week, when the Commerce Department revised its estimates of GDP, the broadest measure of economic growth, in the first, second and third quarters of 2001, showing that it shrank in all three quarters.”
http://money.cnn.com/2002/08/07/news/economy/bush_cheney/

You know who was responsible for the recession? Bill Clinton. Think about this: Clinton puts the economy in a recession, Bush takes office, terrorists attack, and we go to war. In which item of that list is Bush supposed to wave his magic wand and turn the economy around?

“the myth of compassionate conservativism” – Again, a lot of opinion lacking fact. You’re just full of lots of opinions without facts aren’t you?

“his self described “uniter not a divider” persona” – Bush’s opinion of himself is now a failing policy? “his failing policies on” (beginning sentence second paragraph of your post)

“the farce of his No Child Left Behind educational policy” – At least he tries. What do you expect, the Campbell instant soup mix solution to all of our education problems?

“Enron and corporate financial scandals” - You obviously haven’t been keeping up to date in any way. The Department of Commerce released papers A WHOLE YEAR ago detailing the link between Clinton and Enron and the subsequent scandal. In 2003, A WHOLE YEAR after the release of these papers, there is no excuse for your ignorance of the subject. Site is evidence to the above claims.

While it honestly would be fun to further exploit your obviously erroneous opinions, I really must cut this post short. In conclusion, you provide no facts to supplement your opinions. You also rely too heavily upon emotional statements to disguise the absence of fact. This may be acceptable for someone in elementary school but, as an adult, you really should know to substantiate your claims.
