Biography: I'm a complete blog addict. Before this phenomenon really took off, I had a strong interest in politics, history, philosophy, current affairs, and debating. I think blogging shares in the virtues of good conversation, honest journalism, and classic "soapbox" oration. I'm throwing my hat in the ring to keep up with friends and keep my mind sharp. My politics are of the Old Right. The Right of Robert Taft, Albert Jay Nock, Ludwig von Mises, Edmund Burke, Richard Weaver, Paul Gottfried, and Russell Kirk. Just read my posts and you'll see some consistent themes: faith in free markets, suspicion of social engineering, respect for the dignity of the individual, the importance of culture, and a sense of the irreconcilable tragedies in history and in our own lives. Politics is not about perfection, but the "art of the possible." You'll also notice a complete disregard for PC cant, which I believe pollutes clear thinking and honesty. I have no specific expertise. I studied the Great Books at the University of Chicago under some great professors, including Leon Kass and Joseph Cropsey. I stayed for Law School and am now an attorney in private practice. This is just a hobby that I do in my spare time. I am trying to keep my vision and my mind engaged in the big questions of life. As for content, I'm especially interested in foreign policy, second amendment issues, constitutional law, our disastrous immigration policies, the insights of social science, and the decline of standards in nearly every area of life. I don't have as much time to do independent investigative blogging, but I hope to point people towards a lesser-seen news article or opinion piece from time to time. And, most importantly, I enjoy writing and debating. I've found blogging very useful for me to articualte and provide factual support for my opinions. Enjoy.
