Iran - Avoiding Crossed Signals in a Rusty Echo Chamber

When the generally pro-Trump Washington Times runs a Bolton-is-dragging-USA-into-war-with-Iran story, you know that the Ben Rhodes echo chamber is back at work, trying to pressure the White House to save what’s left of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or Iran Deal, lest Iran begin producing nuclear warheads (or would that be adding to their stock?). Unfortunately, the stakes are high because it involves Iran and the country its theocracy has sworn to destroy, Israel.

Iran is not Libya. Iran is not Afghanistan. It is larger, more complex and potentially far more dangerous than either of those, perhaps even moreso than Iraq. It is Shiite - to belabor a point - and for those of us who were old enough to care about the news in 1979-1980, the stage for a resurgence of Islamic political extremism. One with a hostile outward-looking - dare I say crusading? - perspective that at that point was not shared to any great extent in Saudi Arabia, their great Sunni rival. The chants of "Death to America" were one of the features of the angry young radicals who stormed the embassy in Tehran and took diplomats hostage in a crazed attempt to humiliate Washington.

Unfortunately, Jimmy Carter was in the White House, and they mostly got away with it.

The bombing in Beirut, the Soviet War in Afghanistan, the first attempt against the World Trade Center in 1993; what Iran set in motion under Ayatollah Khomeini at the dawn of the 80's spread and metastasized until it was Saudi Sunni's in the main who were responsible for 9/11. But Iran has always been central to radical Islamic terrorism, providing the propaganda, the troops, and the funds for terrorist activity from Europe to Buenos Aires.

A woman praying in front of an abortion clinic is not a theocracy as much as Brian Sims and AOC would have us believe. The mullahs in Tehran most definitely are. As, of course, are the Saudi's and the Gulf States, and Jordan as well.

How to keep nuclear weapons out of their hands?

Obama's administration was so committed to their grand deal that they forgot how to actually negotiate with any sort of spine and consistency. They may have even decided to conveniently ignore who they were dealing with. Yes, they managed to get much of the media on board and avoid unpleasant public debates about the Iran Deal. But a spun narrative does not necessarily make for well-thought-through agreement.

Unfortunately, we now have another war of the narratives. And it's more a case of what is not said rather than the talking points the media dutifully repeats. Here's Matthew Continetti with his piece from the Washington Free Beacon:

Members of the echo chamber aren't for attacking Iran, but they are all for slandering its American opponents. The latest target is Bolton. One of the most ferocious critics of President Obama, he has been an effective and hawkish national security adviser for President Trump. Why is he, not Iran, being blamed for heightened tensions? It's because the Iran deal, and perhaps the Iranian regime, is on life support.

Context is all. On April 8 the president announced he was designating the IRGC a terrorist organization, threatening its financial base. On April 22, Pompeo announced the United States would end waivers for sanctions on Iranian oil. That same day, Iran threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz. On May 8, one year after the United States withdrew from the nuclear deal, Iran threatened to follow suit.

Give them everything they're asking for or they'll go nuclear. That'll show them! As Continetti points out, these are the desperate acts of a regime under economic, political, and military pressure. The insane thing is that the talking points about National Security Advisor John Bolton pushing Trump into launching a pre-emptive strike on Iran came from Iranian officials. As Continetti points out:

It's a storyline that originated in Iran. Toward the end of April, Zarif showed up in New York and gave an interview to Reuters where he said, "I don't think [Trump] wants war," but "that doesn't exclude him basically being lured into one" by Bolton. On May 14, an adviser to Rouhani tweeted at Trump, "You wanted a better deal with Iran. Looks like you are going to get a war instead. That's what happens when you listen to the mustache. Good luck in 2020!"

In other words, the Iranian regime has picked up Ben Rhodes' echo chamber and fed it content of their own making. At least I hope Rhodes or John Kerry, or other officials haven't worked hand-in-glove with Tehran to craft a narrative intended to save the JCPOA. They wouldn't do that, would they?

Meanwhile Tom Rogan - as an educated Englishman seems compelled to do - provides a political and history lesson at The Washington Examiner on how Netanyahu's Israel does not in fact want a war with Iran:

In fact, the Israelis tend only to employ force where they believe doing so is the only option to save lives. The vast majority of Israeli intelligence activity is focused on gaining understanding of Iranian/proxy plans, interests, and activities.

The Israelis have good reason for this balanced approach. Ultimately, the Israeli security establishment recognizes that a violent escalatory struggle with Iran carries outsize risks.

So, the question is: Does John Bolton in fact want an escalation with Iran? Or has the media taken the Ben-Rhodes-Tehran narrative and run with it so hard it risks causing what they profess to want to avoid?

One has to hope that Iran knows perfectly well that former Obama administration as well as retired military and intel officials are trying to paint Trump as hapless and Bolton as an out of control hawk in order to resurrect the JCPOA. So, there's all sorts of signaling going on between the White House and Tehran but also between the administration and the Pentagon perhaps, and certainly within the foreign policy community as well.

Please. Please. Don't let's get signals crossed. We are probably much further from an unintended war with Iran than is being signaled in the press. But any sort of pre-emptive strike would unleash unpredictable and bloody consequences. A targeted bombing of nuclear facilities as happened in Iraq in 1981, courtesy of Israeli forces, would be the preferable option. And only if absolutely necessary.

Then again, the Israeli's likely know six ways from Sunday to sabotage a nuclear facility and make it look like an accident. There's an idea.

Yes, Please!

The Main Stream Media exaggerates, when it isn’t outright lying (which it does often, such as the last 2+ years for the collusion / obstruction hoax).

I temporarily lived in Tehran, Iran in 1972-1973.
It was much different then.
Iran has taken 10 HUGE steps backwards since then, and I think the majority of the Iranian people are sad about it.

“Bully Iran” ?
Iran provides missiles and arms to Hamas, and provided the 700+ missiles to the Palestinians and Hamas, who fired them at Israel recently.
Iran is the biggest sponsor of terrorism.
Oh, so there’s still no crisis at the border?
Never mind 2,000+ homicides per year by non-citizens.
It is also pathetic and dishonest how many Democrats (and similar ilk) blame Republicans, Border Patrol, and ICE for deaths of illegal immigrants, when it is the majority of Democrats who despicably lure immigrants to the U.S., so that the Democrats can get higher decennial census vote counts (which don’t verify citizenship), which leads to more electoral votes, and more federal funding (proving that there is no low that Democrats won’t stoop to for more votes, money, and power).

According to Trump it is a national crisis D.. The issue is how can the man who criticized Obama for golfing instead of running the country break a campaign promise to run his business on the taxpayers dime and make expensive golfing trips during such a crisis?

The question is how can his supporters turn a blind eye to this excess.

Lets play which president said this

1. “Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m fucked.” Yes the answer is Donald Trump

I never saw the Democrat party so negatively, as I have since 2016, when the Democrats adopted all of the following as their platform, which clearly demonstrates how low many Democrats will stoop for more votes, money, and power, based on the following 15 facts (notice the common-thread in all of the following):

  • (01) because many Democrats despicably pit U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants against each other for votes, by pandering to illegal immigrants for 30+ years for more votes, via more representation in the House, via more U.S. House representatives, via re-apportionment of representatives (i.e. more electoral votes, and more federal funding), based on population, which is based on the decennial CENSUS, which does not verify U.S. citizenship; therefore, districts, counties, and states with higher decennial CENSUS numbers (since citizenship is not verified), receive more electoral votes, and more federal funding, based on population (of which many tens of millions are non-citizens), and it is also a way to turn RED states to BLUE states.
  • (02) because many Democrats are also fighting against a [x]check-box on the decennial CENSUS, despite the check-box being totally inadequate to prove citizenship. Democrats disguise their desire for power (for THEIR party) as compassion for illegal immigrants, while despicably pitting U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants against each other for votes and money. Even if their compassion was genuine, it is severely misplaced.
  • (03) because many Democrats (and most of the main stream media) lie about crime by illegal immigrants, and refuse to report the 2,000 homicides per year by criminal non-citizens; and about 32% of everyone in federal prison is a criminal non-citizen;
  • (04) because many Democrats, and most of the main stream media, lie about how massive illegal (or legal) immigration is costing U.S. tax payers hundreds of billion$ per year ($296 Billion per year by this estimate) in net losses (which does not include all costs, and does not include the cost of crime by criminal non-citizens); that is a net loss of about $2,349.00 per year per household (126.22 Million households in 2017; U.S. population=323 Million in 2017); also see this daily ticker (at, of the daily cost (about $0.75 Billion per day) due to rampant illegal immigration (excluding the cost of many crimes and about 2,000 homicides per year by criminal non-citizens );
  • (05) because many Democrats are calling for open borders, and refuse to adequately fund the building of more border barriers;
  • (06) because many Democrats are calling to abolish I.C.E. (Immigration and Customs Enforcement);
  • (07) because many Democrats want another shamnesty, like the shamnesty of 1986;
  • (08) because many Democrats refuse legislation to (a)require employers to use eVerify (to verify eligibility for employment); (b)to stop the abuse of asylum laws; and (c)stop the abuse of birth-right citizenship (women from all over the world are booking vacations to the U.S. to give birth, so that their child will have U.S. citizenship);
  • (09) because many Democrats want to give illegal immigrants drivers’ licenses, and also automatically register them to vote; illegal voting by non-citizens is widespread in all states;
  • (10) because many Democrats want more mayors like Libby Schaaf (Oakland, CA), who warns illegal immigrants (including criminal illegal immigrants) before an ICE raid to arrest criminal illegal immigrants;
  • (11) want more sanctuary cities and states, like California, where Democrats have passed sanctuary city and sanctuary state laws that protect criminal illegal immigrants (such as an illegal immigrant by the name of Garcia Zarate murdered Kate Steinle (who had already been deported 5 times, and convicted 3 times for felonies for manufacturing narcotics), and was then acquitted for that murder, despite Zarate admitting to shooting the weapon that killed Kate Steinle, which should have been, at the very least, manslaughter);
  • (12) because many Democrats want to abolish the 2nd amendment, but many Democrats and many on the left call for restricting or eliminating 2nd Amendment rights, and say it is worth it “even if it saves only ONE life”, but hypocritically ignore 2,000 homicides per year by criminal non-citizens (source: ;, and the costs (source:;
  • (13) because many Democrats (including Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, etc.) want to pass new laws to allow criminals to vote (including murderers, rapists, child molestors, etc.), because they know that a vast majority of criminals will vote Democrat (because the Democrat party is essentially famous for pandering for votes, as they have also done by pandering to illegal immigrants). Is there no low that Democrats will not stoop to in order to acquire more power?
  • (14) because many Democrats are promising reparations for black people (including Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, etc.). Nevermind that it would be punishing people that have harmed nobody. It is yet another item in the long (and growing) list of things that Democrats will do for more votes and power. In fact, many Americans’ ancestors had nothing to do with slavery, because they immigrated to the U.S. after slavery was abolished. Reparations are unconstitutional, since the 13th Amendment states “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States …”. Since no living Americans can be convicted of slavery, it would be unconstitutional to subject Americans to the economic “involuntary servitude” of paying reparations;
  • (15) because many Democrats, in many sanctuary states, allow illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition, while U.S. citizens from other states must pay higher out-out-state tuition; Democrat-controlled New York state legislature passed a law giving financial assistance for college to illegal immigrants in U.S. high-schools; several sanctuary states passed legislation to allow illegal immigrants to attend tuition-free community colleges; again, the Democrats will do anything for more votes, and power;
    NOTE: Non-criminal illegal immigrants merely looking for work are not the true villains. The truly despicable villains are many Democrats and similar ilk, who despicably pit U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants against each other for more votes, money, and power.
The common-thread in all of the above is that Democrats are motivated by their desire for more power for THEIR party, by despicably pitting U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants against each other for more decennial CENSUS votes (which does not verify citizenship), which give Democrats more electoral votes, more federal funding, and more power (see (01) and (02) above).

Were it the dems attacking Trump without cause a sane president wouldn’t tell anyone he is f**cked.

In our democracy elections are sacred. To have foreign interference and possible collusion with any candidate on any level is serious. To think that an oligarchy would attack our system of government makes sense. They can rake in billions with the right guy. But to think a candidate would collude with this oligarchy to win an election is more than most of us want to accept. I can understand those that support Trump run and hide from the truth. By the way, someone saying “I’m f****d” is not a crime, and proves nothing.

No one said it was a crime, but ask yourself how many innocent people have said that. It does prove he had something to hide IMHO. I would think most reasonable people could agree it takes a guilty man to say “This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f**ked.” To put it in a way you can understand D., think if it was a decent president, say Obama, that said the same thing would you still feel the same way? I remember when he said “Guantanamo will be closed no later than one year from now.” and the accusations from guys like you that he intentionally lied.

Is that the best you can do?

I was wondering the same about you. The deflection with the “it isn’t a crime” deception was weak. I am surprised you haven’t resorted to the weak cut and paste of my previous comments taken out of context. Your denial of this shows just how far you have lowered the integrity moral backbone and honesty bar for Trump.

j2t2, ohrealy, Did you think giving Iran billions of dollars and the Iran deal was a good thing?

D., are you referring to giving Iran their money back to them? I do wonder if by billions you are spreading the Trump half truths that other conservative propagandist have been spreading as truth. Remember if Trump said it the probability is it is a lie.

To answer the question yes the agreement was fair for all. The money was theirs we held. We should give it back. The issue of nuclear power and nuclear bombs is tough but doing the dirty work of Israel when they have nuclear weapons is wrong. Trump and the chickenhawks bullying Iran after we agreed with the other nations, Britain, Russia,et al is wrong.

Of course an innocent man would think that he was F××ked if phony BULLS××T accusations were stacked up against him.

Lol Really KAP! So did you hear Obama telling his AG “”This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f**ked.” when conservative propagandist leveled one phony charge after another against him and his administration? Me neither. I would suggest it is because he was in fact innocent of the false accusations, unlike Trump.

If the author doesn’t respond to the discussion of the article, you end up with what’s above here, puppies seeking attention.

Nice description of our friends here on WB. Just wish they would get their shots as they seem a bit rabid when confronted with truth after all the propaganda they eat up.

LOL…our Liberal/Progressive/Socialist Pal j2t2 hangs his entire argument regarding President Trump on a few frustrated words he uttered upon Jeff Sessions telling him that a special counsel had been appointed.

Here are the presidents words that followed; that j2t2, the corrupt media, and Democrats never acknowledge.

“Everyone tells me if you get one of these independent counsels it ruins your presidency. It takes years and years and I won’t be able to do anything. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

With the media, democrats in congress, and other agencies hating Trump and looking for any way to get him out even a fart in the Oval office would be a major scandal to them. So let’s just cut with the BULLS××T, there was no crime and there was no obstruction no matter how you spin it the only ones who got F××KED are you and the rest of the democrats and your little peanut gallery here because Mueller didn’t produce what you wanted. The bottom line is that the Democrats tried to weaponize the federal government to take down Trump with a hoax, and it not only failed, but may backfire.
And that is why so many Democrats (and similar ilk) are going berserk.
They can sure dish it out, but they sure can’t take it.
Hence, the Democrats have now earned the title of the biggest crybabies of the year—> all time !. WHHHAAAaaaaa!
By the way, again, where is the proof of a crime?
I hope the Democraps actually continue the impeachment nonsense, because CNN’s and MSNBC’s ratings will continue to plummet, and more independent voters will abandon the Democrap party (which is what matters; not the brainwashed Democrats also seriously afflicted with from TDS).

First of all you guys need to stop acting as if Trump wasn’t lying when he said “no collusion no obstruction”. Then when your handpicked AG chooses to not indict realize that is the very definition of corruption. So yes Trump so far has evaded justice and has let his capos take the fall. Trump won this round but America lost. Corruption won, the people of this country lost. But please continue to deflect by attacking our intelligence and law enforcement community. Continue to deflect by condoning Trump using the office of president to attack his political opponents without cause.

But look back at other presidents in our life time and ask yourself did Nixon tell his AG “”This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f**ked.”? Did the previous most corrupt administration in recent history, Reagan, tell his AG “”This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f**ked.”? Did Clinton tell his AG ”This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f**ked.” ? Did Carter, GWHB, GWB, or Obama tell their AG’s ”This is terrible. This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f**ked.”

Then quit kidding yourselves and face reality, your “drain the swamp ” president is a liar and con man who convinced you he was cleaning the swamp while actually filling the swamp. Because as even Roy will tell you we get what we deserve in our government. When you deflect and protect a known liar like Putin’s b**ch you don’t deserve better.

After spending $10,000 Billion (that’s $10 Trillion for j2t2) in additional national debt, Obama blamed huge unemployment numbers and anemic GDP on factors beyond his control.

Jobs have returned to our shores, unemployment is at historic lows, the economy is humming at nearly 3% annual growth, retirement funds and pension plans are once again producing growth, and our enemies now fear our military strength and presidential resolve.

And; President Obama is still taking credit. His only contribution to our great recovery is not being president any more; or ever again.

You guys, whether you be Conservatives, Oligarchs, Neo-Nazi, Neo-Fascist and/or Authoritarians, on the other hand have exhausted your ability to reason and have dumped any integrity, credibility and ethics you may have once had. All because you desperately attempt to keep up the pretense that Trump isn’t a f**king idiot without a moral compass. The pretense that Trump cares for you and other Americans even while he raises the debt during what you guys call the best economy ever.

The man has lied to us so many times, yet you defend each and every lies while using these same lies to blame others for his lack of integrity. I guess it is because you are wore out from pretending the man you voted for to lead the country is anything other than a small time con-artist. A Hollywood elitist that you would otherwise believe to be part of the problem.

To hear you guys one would believe that manufacturing jobs didn’t start coming back to the US until Trump cut taxes yet that simply isn’t the case. Yet you fall for the Big Lie and insist his lies are true. Trumpery at it’s finest, the rubes are so easily fooled they think the propaganda they call facts are true while the MSM is wrong. The level of absurdity is laughable were it not true. Baby Boomers the lot of you, yet all of you together cannot come up with anything beyond a 5 year olds ability to separate fact from fiction.

So easily led by Trump, so easily fooled by his propaganda machine. So desperate for him to be a decent president you guys will believe the liar at any cost. All to protect your political beliefs. The fact is Trump was handed a good economy yet he has increased the national debt with handouts for the wealthy and corporations. Yet you fools blame Obama for the debt that was added while cleaning up the aftermath of the great recession. Even when tax cuts were one reason for the debt increase.

From the inauguration when Trump had to lie about crowd size to save his ego from humiliating itself to today when he sided with North Korea firing off rockets because the dictator insulted a potential political opponent! How f**king stupid do you have to be to support this loser?

Still, CNN and MSNBC seem to have the plummeting ratings, because some people (i.e. probably more and more independent voters) now realize that the 2+ year investigations was all a huge hoax. Hard core Democrats are now whining when all the lies proved the entire thing to be a hoax, and are now blaming everyone (i.e. Mueller, Barr, etc., etc., etc.), and some of them are turning on each other.

Google: “cnn msnbc plummeting ratings” “may 2019”

Why D.? This bit of twisted logic doesn’t prove anything but a lot of people interested in the Mueller reports stopped watching after the repost was released. It doesn’t prove anything about “fake News” nor a conspiracy between the FBI, the different Intelligence groups, CNN and MSNBC.

But hey I will Duckduckgo the same thing, perhaps we can have a learning moment. So what I noticed is a bunch of right wing outlets making the same illogical jump to the conclusion that it must be fake news because the ratings dropped. A lot of using one source and broadcasting it through various propaganda channels to fool the largest possible number of people.

If only it was a means to prove that the smaller the audience the more the fake news. But it simply doesn’t D.. See how you have been fooled into thinking it did? Learn from it my friend.

Oh, like Hillary was supposed to win the 2016 election?

Nope nothing like that D.. You mistake polls with TV ratings it seems. But even then you have to imagine some sort of a correlation between the size of the audience equals the amount of fake news. The problem is there isn’t a correlation between the two. In fact Faux Cable News has the reputation for purposely fake news on a regular basis and the audience is larger than the other two outlets.

It must be nice to go through life believing whatever you please, despite reality?

You should know D.. Look at the mans record and then tell me it is everyone who disagrees with him that is the problem. You have earned the term moron with such a foolish display of logic.

So, I guess you will let us all know what FAKE news we are supposed to believe, and not believe.

Perhaps I can be of service D.. Take this bit of advice and you will be smarter almost immediately. Don’t believe any fake news. It is that simple. No need to pick and choose what to believe and what not to believe, if it is fake don’t believe it.

Of course the problem is more complex that that isn’t it. Your sources inundate you with myth, misinformation, half truths and outright lies. On a more subtle level they also disinform and nudge you into thinking of things in a certain way. Take any of the Trump myths. Say the size of the crowd at his inauguration. Check it out, using various sources including eye witness accounts and determine how much Trump exaggerated. Then look at another of his myths and do the same. Soon you may see a pattern. If you make it this far let me know and we can go from there.

After all, your rhetoric is fair and balanced, eh?
Especially like when you claimed that Nancy Pelosi never said “We’re [Congress] is the SUPERIOR branch, quite frankly”.

Such a perfect example of distorting the truth D. Thank you for this. Perfect time for you to practice honing some reasoning skills. Go back to your original post I responded to and look at what was written by you. Notice for starters it was out of context. Go with the link and listen to the discussion at the points I suggested. That may help you to put what she was saying into context. Then notice you tried to influence me with additional verbiage of your own while quoting what she said, which is what I objected to. After that notice the stonewalling and logical fallacies you and others were guilty of when you attempted to defend the disinformation. Notice the illogical arguments you guys used to make it sound as if Pelosi was intended to usurp the Constitution. It was all false and misleading. While you are at it notice the source of your comment and the source of the discussion. PBS did a good job on being factual. Can you say the same?

Yes, all of these things make you the most qualified to judge FAKE news and REAL news, eh?

Perhaps more qualified than you guys. But the most qualified I don’t think so. Breathe deep, release the hatred D.. Ask your conservative friends to do the same, then spend a few minutes without the partisan hatred and forget the propaganda instilled into you the past several years regarding Pelosi. Listen to what is asked and what is said in the interview. With a little practice you can catch up in a short while.

In eight years, going $10 Trillion deeper in debt, President Obama managed to lose 303,000 manufacturing jobs.

In less than two years, President Trump has gained them all back.

January 2019

312,000 Jobs Added In December, Manufacturing Growing 714% Faster Under Trump Than Obama

Under Obama, federal state and local government employment grew 6 times faster than did manufacturing jobs, while under Trump, that ratio has been reversed, with manufacturing jobs growing 5 times faster than government jobs.

Once again we see proof that government led by Liberal/Progressive/Socialist economic theorist, grow government jobs and diminish private sector jobs.

When everyone has a government job and are riding in the wagon, rather than helping to pull the wagon, our Liberal Pals will be totally happy…and utterly lost.

For the enlightenment and joy of our Liberal Pal j2t2, I provide this quote; also from the “Forbes” link directly above.

“President Obama himself said in June 2016 that manufacturing jobs “are just not going to come back,” and New York Times columnist and economist Paul Krugman claimed on November 25, 2016, “Nothing policy can do will bring back those lost jobs. The service sector is the future of work; but nobody wants to hear it.”

What forlorn and pathetic proclamations by these two sad sacks.

Yeah, we can thank Obama and Hillary for all of this and the weaponizing many federal entities, and the 2+ year collusion/obstruction hoax, and CNN, MSNBC (and similar FAKE NEWS sources) for helping to perpetuate the lies for 2+ years.
It’s obvious that the FAKE NEWS media stations’ ratings are now suffering for all of their FAKE NEWS and lies for the past 2+ years.
Only j2t2, and similar ilk still believe Rachael Madcow’s lies, and want to continue the abuse of the federal systems to search for a crime, so that they can get their impeachment.
But, that’s ALL a good thing!
Many thanks again to j2t2 and similar ilk for being the gift that keeps on giving!
Democrats, their brainwashed followers, and the left hand of the Democrat party (i.e. the FAKE NEWS MEDIA) have a lot of egg on their face (to say the least).
Apparently, there’s no low they won’t stoop to in order to get their impeachment (i.e. as soon as they can find a crime, eh? : ) ).
Have you ever seen such a bunch of cry baby grave diggin’ Democrats , who continue to beat that dead horse in that hole they’re standing in?
And how about all of those predictions by phx8 about imminent impeachment, etc., etc., etc.? LOL !

Once again d.a.n. nails it regarding our Liberal/Progressive/Socialist Pals digging their political grave ever deeper. Women, black, and Hispanic voters are deserting the Democrat ship. They are tired of promises to improve the lives of the middle class with no action.

The drum beat to impeach the president has little appeal to the middle class voter.

Right, and many of them are not happy about being lied to by the FAKE NEWS MEDIA for 2+ years.

But j2t2 does not appreciate anyone trying to confuse him with the facts, such as lower unemployment, higher GDP, fewer people on welfare, lower taxes, but increased federal tax revenues, etc., etc., etc., and many other accomplishments.

Some of us can’t help but wonder what kind of person wants bad things for their country?
What kind of person tries to ignore the good things, and not only focuses on the bad things, but makes up bad things (i.e. a 2+ year hoax).
It’s hard to get more unAmerican than that.

For instance, consider the lowering of the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, which was common-sense, because the global average is about 21%, and anything higher simply motivates companies to leave the U.S. The corporate tax cut has already helped many companies, and has brought back many companies and money to the U.S.
Many corporations, money, and jobs ARE returning to the U.S. due to the reduction of the corporate tax from 35% to 21% (closer to the global average of 20%):

  • Apple is bringing back $38 Billion back to the U.S. after the tax overhaul.

  • Insulet Corp.; Total jobs reshored: 1,500 jobs; States benefiting: Massachusetts; Industry: Biotechnology; Headquarters: Billerica, Massachusetts; Insulet Corporation manufactures insulin delivery systems. In 2017 the company announced it would be moving the production of its flagship product — the Omnipod, a tubeless, waterproof insulin pump — from China to a new facility in Acton, Massachusetts. Insulet cited the area’s skilled workforce and rising labor costs in China as reasons for the move. If Insulet meets earnings expectations for the next several years, the new facility could employ as many as 1,500 workers by 2021.
  • Element Electronics; Total jobs reshored: 1,500; States benefiting: Michigan, South Carolina; Industry: Consumer electronics; Headquarters: Winnsboro, South Carolina; In 2012, South Carolina-based consumer electronics manufacturer Element Electronics opened a new flat screen television factory in Detroit. The decision was based on a need to consolidate the company’s supply chain, and made Element one of the only companies to manufacture televisions in the U.S. Element also reshored production from China to Winnsboro, South Carolina with an initial $7.5 million investment in a new plant that is projected to lead to the creation of 500 jobs. The TV manufacturer cited Walmart’s pledge to buy $250 billion of U.S.-made products from 2013 to 2023 as a primary reason to relocate operations to the United States.
  • Gentex; Total jobs reshored: 1,600 jobs; States benefiting: Michigan; Industry: Motor vehicle parts; Headquarters: Zeeland, Michigan; Over the last several years, mirror manufacturer Gentex closed its two plants in China and Mexico in an effort to centralize production in Zeeland, Michigan. While labor was less expensive overseas, the move to consolidate all stages of production in one location is likely to reduce transportation costs and the risk of manufacturing error. According to the Reshoring Initiative, the company’s reshoring efforts since 2010 amount to a total of 1,600 jobs for U.S. workers.
  • Amgen; Total jobs reshored: 1,600; States benefiting: Rhode Island, TBD; Industry: Pharmaceuticals; Headquarters: Thousand Oaks, California; In a January 2018 meeting with President Donald Trump, Amgen CEO Robert Bradway announced that the firm was planning to add 1,600 manufacturing jobs in the U.S. The announcement came several years after the biopharma company cut approximately 15% of its workforce and closed two U.S. manufacturing facilities in 2014 as part of major cost-saving efforts. Most recently, Amgen announced in February 2018 that it would invest $300 million in a new U.S. biologics plant that would employ approximately 300 workers upon completion. An April 2018 recent press release from the company named West Greenwich, Rhode Island, as the site of the new facility.
  • Merck & Co.; Total jobs reshored: 1,633 jobs; States benefiting: New Jersey, TBD; Industry: Pharmaceuticals; Headquarters: Kenilworth, New Jersey; In July 2017, the White House announced that Merck, along with pharmaceutical manufacturers Pfizer and Corning, have committed to making a joint investment of at least $4 billion in pharmaceutical glass manufacturing in the U.S. The partnership will focus on the manufacturing of advanced pharmaceutical glass packing, a technology used in the storage of injectable drugs, as well as vials and cartridges, and is projected to lead to the direct hiring of 4,000 U.S. employees across the three companies. Merck also recently reshored approximately 300 jobs as part of its efforts to consolidate its overseas operations in the U.S. The company relocated the headquarters of its animal health division from Boxmeer, the Netherlands to its campus in Summit, New Jersey in 2013 as part of a larger restructuring effort.
  • SolarCity; Total jobs reshored: 1,900; States benefiting: New York; Industry: Energy production & storage; Headquarters: San Mateo, California; In 2014, SolarCity announced a deal with the State of New York that commits the company to invest approximately $5 billion over the next 10 years in return for a $750 million construction subsidy that is projected to create at least 1,900 jobs. The investment is focused around the construction of a new facility in South Buffalo. Without major government subsidies, domestic manufacturing of solar panels has largely been prohibitively expensive, as U.S. labor costs were too high compared to other countries. While the project stalled for several years as SolarCity reevaluated its timeframe and was taken over by Tesla, solar roof tile production began at the new factory in December 2017.
  • Polaris Industries; Total jobs reshored: 2,000; States benefiting: Alabama; Industry: Transportation equipment; Headquarters: Deerfield, Illinois; In January 2015, automotive manufacturer Polaris Industries announced plans to build a $142 million off-road vehicle plant in Huntsville, Alabama that will create an estimated 2,000 manufacturing jobs in the area. The move was likely prompted by the generous tax breaks offered by state and local governments. Polaris is projected to receive approximately $80 million in tax breaks from the city of Huntsville and state of Alabama upon completion and staffing of the facility. The announcement comes several years after the company was criticized for downsizing its plant in Osceola, Wisconsin and building a new facility in Monterrey, Mexico for approximately $150 million.
  • Caterpillar; Total jobs reshored: 2,100; States benefiting: Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Texas; Industry: Construction & farm machinery; Headquarters: Peoria, Illinois; According to the Reshoring Initiative, over the last several years construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar has announced reshoring projects that will target facilities in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, and Texas, and will add or retain an estimated 2,100 U.S. manufacturing jobs. In 2012, Caterpillar opened a new facility in Victoria, Texas with an initial investment of $200 million in an effort to shift production of its hydraulic excavators from Akashi, Japan to the U.S. In August 2015, Caterpillar announced plans to expand employment at its Victoria facility, moving its vocational truck manufacturing operations from Mexico to the Texas location.
  • Whirlpool; Total jobs reshored: 2,165; States benefiting: Ohio; Industry: Electronics, electrical equipment; Headquarters: Benton Harbor, Michigan; Since 2010, Whirlpool has announced several efforts to consolidate its overseas operations within the U.S. that will add up to an estimated 2,165 reshored jobs for domestic manufacturing workers. Most recently, in January 2018 Whirlpool announced it would be adding 200 full-time employees to its facility in Clyde, Ohio. The news came shortly after the Trump Administration announced safeguard tariffs on large imported residential washing machines, a move projected to reduce import competition from Whirlpool rivals Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.
  • General Electric; Total jobs reshored: 2,656; States benefiting: Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, New York, Ohio
    Industry: Industrial machinery; Headquarters: Boston, Massachusetts; Since 2010, General Electric has announced domestic capital investments that are projected to add approximately 2,700 jobs to the U.S. manufacturing workforce. Much of the reshoring efforts are based around Appliance Park, a newly renovated production facility in Louisville, Kentucky, and shifting the production of bottom-mounted refrigerators and front-load washing machines from China and Mexico to the U.S. According to GE, reasons for the move include lower transportation costs, a more qualified workforce, and significant tax incentives by state and local governments.
  • Dow Chemical; Total jobs reshored: 2,900; States benefiting: Louisiana, Michigan, Texas; Industry: Chemicals; Headquarters: Midland, Michigan; In March 2015, Dow Chemical announced plans to invest $6 billion in its manufacturing plants in Texas and Louisiana in an effort to capitalize on lower domestic natural gas prices. According to a Dow executive, the increase in U.S. fracking activity has created significant investment prospects for chemical producers in the United States that will pay off in the next several years. The Gulf Coast reshoring effort is largely focused on the production of ethylene, propylene, and chemical derivatives used in packaging. The company’s reshoring efforts announced over the past several years are projected to retain or add approximately 2,900 manufacturing jobs to the U.S.
  • Intel; Total jobs reshored: 4,000; States benefiting: Arizona, California, Oregon; Industry: Semiconductors & other electronic components; Headquarters: Santa Clara, California; In 2011, Intel announced plans to hire 4,000 U.S. workers and build a $5 billion microprocessor plant in Chandler, Arizona. Known as Fab 42, the plant will use the 7-nanometer production process and is projected to be the most advanced, high-volume microprocessor plant in the world. While the facility was completed in 2013, its opening was stalled for several years. In February 2017, however, Intel announced plans to open the facility with a total investment of $7 billion and the direct hiring of 3,000 high-tech, high-wage workers. The tech giant projects the plant will be completed in the next two to three years, and will indirectly lead to the creation of roughly 10,000 jobs throughout Arizona.
  • Ford; Total jobs reshored: 4,200; States benefiting: Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, New York; Industry: Motor vehicles & parts; Headquarters: Dearborn, Michigan; In January 2017, Ford announced plans to cancel the $1.6 billion expansion of its Mexico production facility, instead opting to expand operations at its Flat Rock, Michigan facility with a $700 million investment projected to create 700 jobs. Similar reshoring efforts by the U.S. auto giant have been announced over the past eight years, targeting facilities in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, New York, and other parts of Michigan and totaling an estimated 4,200 new jobs for the domestic workforce. Like General Motors and Fiat Chrysler, Ford’s announcements were made amid pressure from the current administration to reduce investment overseas and increase capital investments in the U.S. manufacturing sector. While some analysts speculate the reshoring efforts are a response to the Trump administration’s push for domestic job creation, Ford representatives have noted that they were based on an initiative to expand its truck and S.U.V. model offerings for U.S. consumers, which was previously agreed to in a labor contract with the United Automobile Workers union.
  • Boeing; Total jobs reshored: 7,725; States benefiting: Missouri, Montana, South Carolina; Industry: Aerospace & defense; Headquarters: Chicago, Illinois;
    Over the past several years, Boeing has rapidly expanded its U.S. workforce at various manufacturing plants throughout the East Coast. Boeing began operations at a new plant in Charleston, South Carolina in 2011 that manufactures 787 Dreamliner planes. Boeing also recently moved parts of its production of the new 777X plane from overseas to its St. Louis facility. The first 777X is projected to be completed by December 2019. According to the Reshoring Initiative, since 2010 Boeing has announced plans to reshore approximately 8,000 jobs, the most of any U.S. company other than General Motors and Apple.
  • General Motors; Total jobs reshored: 12,988; States benefiting: Michigan, New York, Tennessee, Texas; Industry: Motor vehicles & parts; Headquarters: Detroit, Michigan; Over the past several years, General Motors has made several announcements regarding various reshoring efforts that will boost employment at its plants in Michigan, New York, Tennessee, and Texas. The largest announcement came January 2017, when GM made public its plans to add or retain 7,000 jobs in the U.S. over the next few years. One of the major reshoring projects will be the shifting of approximately 600 jobs from an axle production plant in Mexico to a new facility in Arlington, Texas. GM’s reshoring efforts announced since 2010 amount to roughly 13,000 jobs, the most of any U.S. company other than Apple.
  • Apple; Total jobs reshored: 22,200 jobs; States benefiting: Texas, TBD; Industry: Computers, office equipment; Headquarters: Cupertino, California; In January 2018, Apple announced plans to invest over $30 billion in capital expenditures in the U.S. over the next five years. As part of the investment, Apple is increasing its commitment to its Advanced Manufacturing Fund — used to invest in U.S. manufacturing companies and boost the domestic manufacturing sector — from $1 billion to $5 billion. The move is projected to create over 20,000 new jobs at Apple’s existing campuses and at a new office location which has yet to be announced. Apple’s job creation announcement comes amid criticism aimed at the company for its outsourcing of manufacturing jobs to China, and accusations that it has dodged U.S. taxes by keeping some $250 billion overseas. A March 2017 press release from Apple claims the company supports some 4.8 million jobs in China, compared to 2.0 million in the U.S.
  • SoftBank $50 Billion
  • Exxon $20 Billion
  • Hyundai $3.1 Billion
  • Bayer AG $8 Billion
  • Toyota $600 Million
  • LG $250 Million
  • Also, certain industries are integral to the security of the U.S.A (i.e. steel, aluminum, minerals, energy, food, technology, etc.). Several companies are bringing business and money back to the U.S.A.
  • Many companies have also cited Walmart’s pledge to buy $250 billion of American-made products between 2013 and 2023 as a primary reason for shifting operations to the United States. The pledge has reduced some of the risk of relocating production to the United States and has helped companies such as Element Electronics, which won a contract with Walmart shortly after opening a small flat-screen television plant in Michigan, make the decision to reshore.

There are good reasons to return to the U.S.A., now that the corporate tax was lowered from 35% to 21% (nearer to the global average of about 20% for corporate taxes). A corporate tax rate of 35% was one of the highest corporate taxes in the world, and it was driving corporations and jobs out of the U.S. for decades.
Despite all of that, j2t2 and similar ilk will say “it only helps the rich”.
The facts, the truth, and simple logic simply do not work with some people, and those people are a hopeless waste of time.

Also, corporate taxes are a hidden tax on consumers.
A Corporation is not a person.
Excessive tax rates (especially higher than most other nations, which is what it was when it was 35%) on corporations simply incentivizes corporations to leave the U.S.A., and who can blame them.
And when corporations leave, so do jobs and money.
Yet, many Democrats (many running for President) are talking about 70% income tax rates!?!
Only a master-parasite would make such promises (to buy votes).
And only a cheater/parasite, who thinks they’re going to get free stuff, would vote for that.

Never in my long life have I seen Democrats in such denial. They either deny…or lie.

I hear Democrats tell us that government is the engine of innovation, growth, and economic success. Obama even had the “garters” to tell successful business people that “you didn’t build that.”

We all know that government is convenient to do the things we choose to do collectively; such as building public roads, maintaining police and fire protection. We choose to do it this way, it is not by government edict. It is much the same as co-op’s operate. We collectively choose to designate someone to use our buying power to obtain the goods and services we desire to our advantage.

Just read the “deny or lie” statements by our Liberal Pal j2t2 regarding manufacturing jobs. Simply because he can find some article written by some unknown person who touts his (j2t2) desired perspective, it becomes a fact that he believes. And, no amount of actual facts, provided by those government officials charged with providing such facts, will persuade him or change his thinking.

Liberals today have a propensity towards “stinking thinking”. This is not to be confused with real “thinking”, it resembles more closely; conjuring. For example, a Liberal/Progressive/Socialist decides that the wrong people have the most money. They convince themselves that they deserve some or all of that money simply because they think so, and others like them, think so too. These “stinker thinkers” band together and persuade some politician to promote their cause in exchange for their vote.

Finally, the “stinkers” have some political clout and the fake media helps to make the idea popular with more lies and stinking thinking. Now, the “stinkers” are convinced their original conjure must be correct as it is being heralded by politicians and news media.

This is sheer madness.

Same here.
I have never seen the Democrat party reach such a depth of depravity as I have seen in the last 10 years.
However, it has happened before, as you can see HERE.
And it is now happening again.

Since I absolutely crushed j2t2’s contention that the Obama administration produced as many “manufacturing” jobs as the Trump administration has so far; our Pal has simply slunk away back to his cave.

It is a well know ritual among the Lefties here on WB. They throw out some totally off-the-wall notion, gleaned from the media or some inept politician, and expect us to believe it.

When these Lefties do attempt to link a source to prove their point, it usually is an editorial written by someone writing about subjects totally out of their field of expertise.

The Democrat Party is disintegrating before out very eyes. We are a witness to history being made. The divisions within this Party are deep and beyond healing. After the thorough political thrashing they will receive in November 2020, their base constituents will demand a split.

We will see the various factions splinter into small factions of single issue people.

Such a bloated ego D.. First of all your false claims
1. Been working didn’t have time to bother with you.
2. What contention? That was you changing subjects after you got your a** whipped over your moronic allegations earlier in this thread. Have you no sense of decency?
3. Using Huffpost as your response to the information is not crushing anything FYI.
4. “Since 2010, General Electric has announced domestic capital investments that are projected to add approximately 2,700 jobs to the U.S. manufacturing workforce.” Really crushing isn’t it?

  • (1)many thanks to j2t2 for being the gift that keeps on giving.
  • (2)As you can see, none of j2t2’s arguments prove anything; merely more grasping at straws with more circular nonsensical gobbledygook.
  • (3)j2t2, again, has a habit of attributing quotes to the wrong person.
  • (4)keep up the good work j2t2, it’s doing wonders for your credibility.

d.a.n., sorry; I refuse to laugh at our Pal j2t2’s crazy comments. I refuse to paint him as uninformed. I refuse to consider his comments as “fake” news.

I refuse to do all that as you do such a good job yourself.

I supported Trump before he glided down the escalator. His support materialized out of nowhere and everywhere. It clicked.

He sat through the ridicule. He defied the predictions. He stopped the clock and reset it.

I’m not afraid of being left behind. President Trump is the lightning rod and the attacks that once worked in the one-way media are being deflected and brought to ground.

I know the Left is going to lose, again. I’m not afraid of reliving history, because the ideals written into the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, will always prevail.

I would appreciate a discussion pertaining to the amendments ratified since. I believe those three documents mentioned above should be enough.

The only path possible to significant reforms may be via Article V, which states:

    The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.
Congress has failed (for decades) to honor their sworn duty to uphold the U.S. Constitution, despite three fourths of the states already having submitted hundreds of Article V applications.
There have been 171 Balanced Budget/General Amendments submitted by 39 different states (more than the 3/4 required), yet Congress has ignored ALL applications.
