Mueller's Letter - The Civil War Continues

They say there is nothing uglier than civil war. Consider Rick Wilson, a political consultant who worked for both Bush 41 and Rudy Giuliani during the 90’s and into the first years of this century. He apparently was on Jeb Bush’s side in the 2016 primaries and the Florida native has a visceral hatred of Trump that goes beyond what even an Adam Schiff reveals to the public. Although one can be sure that Representative Schiff harbors a whole lotta ill will towards the President as well.

But Rick Wilson has no necessity to hide it. Just like opponents who were once on the same side of a nation or other collective of one sort or another, he wears his hatred on his sleeve. And now AG Barr - who was nominated by Wilson's old boss, George H. W. Bush - is in Wilson's sights.

The leaking of a letter by Mueller complaining to the Attorney General (about how he portrayed Mueller's report in the AG's letter which summarized the conclusions) to the media a matter of hours before AG Barr's testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, gave Wilson the excuse to once more unleash his venom. Remember this is the guy who coined the Cheetos and Anime Porn phrase to describe Trump supporters 3 years ago. Wilson writes in the Daily Beast - a publication with which he is united only in his shared contempt for President Trump:

"Democrats still haven't figured it out; unlike most of the human refuse Trump rounded up from behind the bus station to serve in his freak show administration, Barr knows the folkways and expected behaviors of Washington. He's twice lulled Democrats into believing that he's a down-the-line, rational pre-Trump Republican. If he were as gibberingly stupid and patently venal as the average Trump stooge, they might spot it, but he's plainly not, and they clearly haven't.

If Democrats lack the insight, courage, and outrage to truly confront Barr, Trump will win a sweeping victory this week. If Chairman Jerry Nadler lets Barr set the conditions under which the House Judiciary Committee can interview him, the game is already lost.

Notice the final sentence in the second paragraph that I quoted: If Chairman Jerry Nadler lets Barr set the conditions under which the House Judiciary Committee can interview him, the game is already lost."

You can bet that Schiff would never be so obvious as to refer to the game being lost. The game obviously being what it has always been: an attempt to prevent, delay, and now remove Trump from office by any means save assassination. In the rest of his diatribe, Wilson goes on about the balance of power and the checks and balances between the branches of government. Yes, but when your objective is impeachment because of personal dislike of Trump and of his policies as well as his way of campaigning and governing, your motives work against your supposed belief in the sacredness of the separation of powers.

With Barr apparently refusing to appear before the House Judiciary Committee we have a full-on confrontation between the House Democrat majority and Trump's White House. Some are calling for the arrest of those who will not appear before Congressional committees. Does that mean that FBI Director Wray will send a squad of heavily armed agents to his boss AG Barr's home in the pre-dawn hours and drag him away in handcuffs because of his declining to appear before the House Judiciary Committee?

Rick Wilson - who one suspects is a little too in love with his own brutal sarcasm - giving Democrats marching orders on how to deal with Trump writes:

"So that's it, Democrats. You either start taking scalps this week, or you never will. You either start holding those who are obviously in contempt accountable, or you never will. Put just one Trump minion in jail for contempt, and you'll show that you're using the power the voters gave you. It's that, or you can just shut up and watch AOC assemble Ikea furniture on Instagram."

None of this is helpful to put it mildly. And this all started with a probe that was most probably unnecessary to begin with. We now have a full frontal face off over process - something that the beltway loves to wank over. See? I'm already getting Wilsonified. And I'm not talking Woodrow here.

Politico quotes Mueller's recently leaked letter to Barr:

"There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation. This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations."

Funny, that's exactly what you could say about the Mueller probe itself. Which most likely was appointed to continue the partisan Russia probes and damage Trump and his presidency. This whole out-of-control process really needs to stop. But unfortunately, it won't anytime soon. There's still more damage to be done to both sides.

Rick Wilson is of no consequence. He can be funny. He can be very sarcastic. But he doesn’t matter. In the larger scheme of things, he is an interesting example of just how far the GOP has moved away from the establishment Republicans of just 10 years ago. Today’s GOP continues to be subsumed in a Trumpian cult of personality. They seem weirdly unable to deal with it, accepting every bizarre conspiracy theory, corrupt act, and outright betrayal of the country to the Russians, as long as Trump signs the tax cuts for the 1% and corporations, and feed their bigotry and racism.

Hey! Where did those huge caravans go? And how about those “unknown Middle Easters?” What happened to the prayer rugs found in the southwestern desert? How about that 10% tax cut for the middle class just before the election? Are we still “going to the moon,” as Pence said? Seriously, nothing is too preposterous for Trump followers to accept.

Meanwhile, Barr, refused to testify before the House. Barr lied in sworn testimony. He is doing everything possible to impede Americans from getting to the truth. More importantly, he refused to release an unredacted version of the Mueller Report to Congress.

That’s bad. That’s really, really bad.

Mueller testimony anticipated for @ May 15th.

I think it is funny as hell that A.G. William Bar refused to appear the following day.
Why should he?
The Mueller report is public (with few redactions).
In a way, I was hoping Barr would show up, so that Democraps can make asses of themselves some more than they already have.
Kamal Harris, “Shut up” Mazie Hirono, “Mr. Chicken” Steve Cohen, Jerry Nadler, “self-proclaimed Vietnam Vet who never set foot in Vietnam” Dick Blumenthal, Patrick Leahy, “Leaking Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, and other Democraps are the gift that keeps on giving.

I guess we’re stuck with Keeley2 now for a while, Ms Keeley having decamped to the middle tin foil hat column. Unless I missed it, Keeley2 never mentions Wilson’s book, Everything Tr-mp Touches Dies:

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/huppke/ct-met-trump-rick-wilson-huppke-20180806-story.html

This link pretty much acts as a rebuttal for Keeley2’s article.

“What we never anticipated was that somebody else would grab that tool box. But the Russians and Tr-mp sure did, and they ran wild with it.”

I don’t trust Rick Wilson, or any of his conservative ilk, who pretend to have integrity because they don’t like Benedict Donald. From “russia if you’re listening” to “I don’t see why it would be russia” he has proved his disloyalty beyond a shadow of a doubt. His main supports are the employees of an Australian immigrant who has NO loyalty to this country, and the fools who are too stupid to change the channel. Perhaps if they moved to this facility they could get someone to change the channel for them:

” you can receive the help you need… ” and “Our award-winning Memory Care reimagines the possibilities for people with dementia…

white people:

Ed O’hrealy wrote: I LOVE IT AMERICA, YOU are getting payback !! white a holes !!! I hope this is true!!! But we know you lieing—> [lying] white a holesss!

Rick Wilson has an interesting check-list.

However, check out this check-list for the Democrats, which is really doing wonders for winning over voters to the Demcorats’ despicable way of thinking, eh?

However, many thanks to Ed O’hrealy for being the gift that keeps on giving! All that racism, hate, and vitriol is doing wonders for winning voters over to ohrealy’s depraved way of thinking.

Many thanks to Keeley for his comments about Rick Wilson. It is always interesting to read how hate leads to dementia and self-loathing. I see much the same thing in Jeb Bush and other mainline RINO’s.

Those who lust for power and debase themselves for political gain are sad creatures. They usually self-destruct.

I don’t pity j2t2, phx8, or the “O” person. No matter what they do or say, they know that they will obtain no power and no gain. They remain simply willing stooges of the very people who would devour them given the chance.

It is an odd thing to watch the cult-like creature on the political far left. Despite their certainty that they are right, they can’t seem to prove it in their own minds. Happiness for them is the next promised scandal about an adversary that just never happens.

It’s a great day for Conservative economic principles.

That appears to be happening now (for the past few years), as many Democrats have somehow been convinced to double-down on the Mueller investigation, double-down on the impeachment goal, and have (despicably) decided that all of THESE are now the official goals of their platform.

The nation would be so much better off if the Democrats could focus on real problems facing the nation, instead of trying to tear it apart with lies, hoaxes, racism, and identity politics.

Many times, it has been determined by many polls, that the majority of voters are against illegal immigration, but the Democrats are continuing to do everything they can to let it continue, because Democrats will do ANYTHING for more votes, and power.

But more and more voters are starting to see through the lie that illegal immigration is a new benefit, because the truth is that illegal immigration is costing several hundreds of billions per year in net losses to U.S. citizens (and $0.74 Billion per day for border security, ICE, and CBP alone).

The 2020 election will be interesting.
At this point, it seems unlikely that the majority of voters are going to support open-borders, more rampant, uncontrolled illegal immigration, more identity politics, more Obamacare style healthcare, more socialism, and more hoaxes.

Much as I would like to discuss the economy, it is pointless with Trump supporters. The economy of today is virtually identical to the one under Obama. Unfortunately, Trump supporters are committed to believing the economy under Obama was bad, and that Trump somehow changed something. I can cite statistics, but just leads to cries that statistics are faked or fraudulent. Polls? Same thing. If it is good for Trump, his supporters will believe anything, and forget all the preposterous statements made in the past about the economy under Obama. The debt and deficit and debt ceiling were critically important when Obama was president, to the point the GOP threatened the country with the debt ceiling, fiscal cliff, etc., and that resulted in the downgrading of the US debt.

And if the Drudge Report brags about an “endless rally” that is a really, really bad sign. When there is popular talk about an “endless rally” it means we are in the last stage of the bull market, overconfidence. Recently the yield curve inverted twice. It is not unusual immediately after inversions for the stock market to have a blow-off to the upside before a bear market. It can mean a lot of stock gains. It also means don’t buy high and be the last one holding the bag.

So! Look for articles like that Drudge headline. Look for articles about how the bull market is “endless.” Look for proclamations that the Dow will soon hit 40,000, and the market cycle no longer applies, and history has been repealed because this baby is “endless” and going up forever. Those are warning signs…

the House can order its own sergeant-at-arms to arrest the offender, subject him to a trial before the full House, and, if judged to be in contempt, jail that person until he appears before the House and brings whatever documentation the House has subpoenaed.

Article 3 of the impeachment papers drawn up for Nixon included Obstruction of Justice, ignoring a House subpoena. Trump and Barr seem committed to doing the same, and why shouldn’t they? They are escalating and daring the Democrats to do anything. The White House and the AG are intentionally undermining the power of Congress to prevent oversight. The Democrats are going to have to step up, whether they want to do it or not.

Barr’s testimony was straightforward perjury. He needs to be impeached immediately, as soon as Mueller testifies.

Sadly Royal I agree with you…kinda. It will be reform on the level of the progressive era before we see the power in this country returned to the people not the oligarchic few. We have been beaten down with the Gilded Age economics of the repub revolution. Your proud declaration tells us much about where you stand on power and wealth in this country and how far you are willing to go to retain it.
Your focus on power and wealth is telling in that you defend the extreme gerrymandering, voter suppression, the constitutional violations of the current administration and the bribery of our elected officials by not only in country oligarchs but foreign oligarchs as well.

The dems do end up playing the repub game given enough time but it just doesn’t work for them as much as it does for the repubs. It is the equivalent of the Twain quote- Never argue with an idiot he will take you down to his level and beat you with experience. Advice the dems should take IMHO.

It is an odd thing to watch the cult-like creature on the political far left. Despite their certainty that they are right, they can’t seem to prove it in their own minds. Happiness for them is the next promised scandal about an adversary that just never happens.

Once again Royal I agree with you…kinda. The left tends to copycat the strategies and schemes of the oligarchic right wing, they just wait so long to do so. Scandals were the means for the far right to take control of our government. Of course they rested on previous scandals once they attained power. Fortunately for them keeping the real cult, conservatives, at heel with decade old scandals is enough to distract them from the current administration.

More abject cowardice from Trump when conversing with Putin. What does Putin want?

Isn’t it funny that no sooner than the Mueller report is squashed by Trump that Putin comes calling publicly once again. Anyway Putin wants to get his b**ch back, that is what he wants. He wants to control this country and open the doors for him and his oligarchy to rape and pillage at will. Trump is compromised and we all know it. Well except for those that worship him, who know it but refuse to admit it. The real question, Is Putin co-opting Trump as Trump is co-opting his conservative/national populist/neo-Nazi/neo-Fascist/Authoritarian/ Oligarchic followers? Or is it simple blackmail and bribery that has Trump taking it in the shorts from Putin?

Of course Putin has something on Trump and McConnell as well. It is money. Putin has it, Trump wants it and he does what is required to get it. Like Royal admits, it is all about power and money for the extreme right wing. The talking points about the greatest economy ever is laughable but these guys actually believe it, talk about cognitive dissonance!

WTF does average wages have to do with reality? While we are at it why isn’t Trump addressing the real economy issues? College tuition and the coming college loan scandal? The exorbitant CEO/worker wage gap. Health care/health insurance costs, highest in the world. The Corporate drug lords bribing doctors to string out patients on their opioids. Wages not keeping up with productivity. The numbers Drudge brags about is proof of the gilded age economy, nothing more.

Kap,
What lie?

From testimony to Congress:
Representative Crist: “Reports have emerged recently, general, that members of the special counsel’s team are frustrated at some level with the limited information included in your March 24th letter that it does not adequately or accurately necessarily portray the report’s findings. Do you know what they are referencing with that?”

AG Barr: “No, I don’t. I think, I think, I suspect that they probably wanted, you know, more put out, but in my view I was not interested in putting out summaries or trying to summarize because I think any summary, regardless of who prepares it, not only runs the risk of you know, being under-inclusive or over-inclusive, but also, you know, would trigger a lot of discussion and analysis that really should await everything coming out at once.”

Mueller wrote that the summary “did not fully capture the context, nature and substance of this office’s work and conclusions.” He accused Barr of creating confusion with his summary, and urged him to release the summaries written by prosecutors specifically for this purpose, to clarify what the investigation concluded. Barr refused.

And all this matters. It matters a lot. You can see what happened in real time, on WB, when Barr released his summary:

“NO OBSTRUCTION, NO COLLUSION.”
KAP

“It appears that all the salacious comments, wild speculation, and wet dream orgasms by our Liberal Pals over the past two years in their imagining Trump collusion, conspiracy, and puppetry with Russia has come to a crashing end.”
RF

In fact, those were responses to the Barr Summary, NOT the Mueller Report. Trump followers were mislead by Barr into believing the Report exonerated and vindicated Trump. It most certainly did not. No one can look at volume 1 without concluding Trump and his campaign betrayed the country for their own benefit.

And it is obvious Trump supporters are not even looking at the Mueller Report. Notice how Trump followers never refer to anything specific from the Report? Once again, he is an easily useable, searchable link:

https://www.scribd.com/document/406729844/Mueller-Report

No one can look at even the first few chapters and conclude there was no “collusion.” Volume 1 covers it, and it is certainly impeachable. Volume 2 covers 10 examples of Obstruction of Justice.

Someone suggested it would be a crime for Barr to release an unredacted report. That is false. The public should not see redactions for ongoing investigations and classified material, that is true, but that is definitely within the purview of Congress. In six past investigations by Special & Independent Counsels, the results were released in 24-48 hours, including Grand Jury proceedings.

And I got bad news for Trump supporters. If you actually read sections ending in redactions, you can tell from the context that they are NOT going to suddenly be about Hillary Clinton. It looks very bad for Trump and his ilk. There is a good reason Barr is willing to risk impeachment by withholding the Report from Congress.

Finally, it is a really sad commentary on this country that the main goal of the Trump administration is to prevent televised testimony. They know their supporters will not look at the Report. Instead, the administration just needs to keep feeding supporters misleading narratives through FOX, Limbaugh, Hannity, and so on. But it is very hard to keep that up if McGahn and others appear on tv.

Let’s see if Mueller is allowed to testify.

phx8 writes such goofy stuff. He whines about some redactions in the Mueller report. Yet, not a single Democrat, authorized to read the full unredacted report, has bothered to read it.

“Barr offered access to a less-redacted version of the report to just 12 members of Congress — six Democrats and six Republicans. But as of Tuesday afternoon, (the day before the hearings) only Rep. Doug Collins, the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, opted to view it. A third, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he planned to review the report later Tuesday.”

Such a shame that phx8 didn’t learn any lessons about fake news during the two year Mueller investigation. He continues to be a willing shill for political corruption and cover-up.

Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd, in the letter to Nadler on Wednesday, said the less-redacted version already available to key members “would permit review of 98.5 percent of the report, including 99.9 percent of Volume II, which discusses the investigation of the President’s actions.”

“Regrettably, before even reviewing the less-redacted version or awaiting the Attorney General’s testimony, you served a subpoena …” he wrote. “You served such a subpoena knowing that the Department could not lawfully provide the unredacted report, that the Committee lacks any legitimate legislative purpose for seeking the complete investigative files, and that processing your requests would impose a significant burden on the Department.”

RF,
Why would anyone want to see Barr’s “less-redacted” report?

The prosecutors created summaries for each section, intended for public release. Barr is hiding those. He substituted his own summary, which fundamentally misrepresents the Report. Trump and Barr thought they could bury this thing, and count on no one reading it, and accepting their own version. By covering it up and lying they have made it ten times worse, and this will be televised.

KAP,
There can be obstruction without proving beyond a reasonable doubt that there is criminal conspiracy. In fact, that is kind of the point of obstructing justice in the first place, to prevent an investigator from finding out about the underlying crime. In legal terms, there is no such thing as “collusion,” as Mueller says in the Report. However, there can be a preponderance of evidence that would justify impeachment for “high crimes and misdemeanors.” The main point of Volume 1 is to justify Volume 2.

Mueller could be a disappointment if his hearing in the House is televised. Based on past testimony, it would be perfectly in character for him to just say ‘read the report, see page xyz,’ and so on.

You can not read Volume 1 of “The Report On The Investigation Into Russian Interference In The 2016 Presidential Election” (the actual title) without calling for impeachment, and that is without even seeing the redactions. It is absolutely damning.

Read it. Just the first few chapters.

phx8, the FBI investigation went on, the House and Senate investigations continued. Mueller’s investigation was allowed to finish with Trump and the administration providing 1.4 million pages of documents and a written statement from Trump plus all the testimonies. You are on a fishing expedition with the rest of your democrat buddies phx8 and the only thing you are going to catch is a Shark who is going to eat you alive. Barr and the Mueller team wrote the report, so what pray tell is Barr hiding that you and nobody else knows about. If there was anything hidden I’m sure Wisemann would have blown the whistle on it seeing how he was Mueller’s “Pit Bull”.

“The prosecutors created summaries for each section, intended for public release. Barr is hiding those.”

Lordy, it is nearly impossible to penetrate the lead-lined Liberal brain sometimes.

Only in the twilight world of Liberals would “summaries” be considered more illuminating that the report they summarize.

Only in the Liberal mush-mind would a summary contain evidentiary information not found in the full report.

What phx8 is whining about appears to be the non-release of “opinion” by some of those on the Mueller team.

phx8 would like the prosecutor present to the judge, as evidence, the opinion held by the cops.

Dumb, dumber, and dumbest.

No. The Mueller team wrote the report. Barr summarized it in four pages in a very misleading and dishonest manner, which the Mueller team did, in fact protest.

RF,
Unlike the Report, the summaries are unredacted and intended for public consumption. They are short, whereas the actual Report is @ 400 pages. They are written by the prosecutors, not AG Barr.

Only an imaginary entity could continue to deny all the facts, all the time.

“imaginary entity” you say. You mean like God? I mean I’m no more an imaginary entity than you are Royal. You seemed confused and…are …you …off your meds again Royal?

In a moment of near sanity our Pal recognizes that our economy is outstanding…even “gilded”.

Is it this the “imaginary entity” that causes you so much confusion Royal or do you do that all by yourself? I said gilded age, the precursor to the progressive era in American history.

He fails to understand why or how we have achieved such economic success.

Royal still confused, but then you were never one to let facts get in the way of your imaginary entities were you. The current economy has failed to lift all boats despite the good economic times, as we saw in America before the Reagan revolution. It is a result of supply side economics where only a few boats get lifted in good economic times and increases in productivity goes only to the top 1%.

He knows for certain that there are no Democrat, Liberal, Progressive or Socialist fingerprints on it.

So..umm… Royal , are you still talking about your “imaginary entity” or me? The sad truth is there are Dem hands on the economy you are just to naive or to busy playing with your imaginary entities to realize this.
This economy is simply a continuation of the Obama economy as much as you guys can’t stand to hear it. We have been over this many times whilst you guys brag about this imaginary entity Trump who you claim singlehandedly raised the economy from the ruins that weren’t. Sure is easy to see why you point to imaginary entities isn’t it?

And armed with that knowledge he believes it must be a simple aberration, like himself.

Knowledge… you mean myth don’t you. The only aberration here is you. Perhaps you should ponder this thought for a moment-“All fanaticism springs from an aberration of the mind, from a defect in reasoning.”, as it aptly suggests why Trump and his conservative/national populist/neo-Nazi/neo-Fascist/Authoritarian/ Oligarchic followers, you included, are so confused about basic facts so often.

I won’t attack Jones, despite the fact that he has no significant credentials that would lend authenticity to his writing.

What is obviously lacking from his essay are any links to government sources to prove his assertions. For some unknown reason, Mr Jones can’t find substantiating sources. It is curious to find that when clicking on an assertion by Mr. Jones, we are directed back to another article written by Mr. Jones.

It appears that our Pal j2t2, using his imaginary mind, found a fellow “gravedigger”.

In 9 quarters under Trump, there has been 1 quarter with GDP in excess of 4%, in other words, 1/9. Under Obama, there were 4, that is, 4/32.

In the quarter before Obama, the GDP dropped 8.4%
In the first quarter, it dropped 4.4%. And th one after that, it dropped 0.6
That just gives some perspective on how bad the economy was by the end of the Bush administration.

Between 2013-17, the Obama administration added 10.288 million non-farm payroll jobs, for an average of about 214,000 jobs/month. Trump is averaging about the same- for the first four months of 2019, about 205,000. And hey, for both Obama and Trump, that is good! Same for the GDP!

The problem is that Trump supporters believe there is a big difference in the economy between Obama and Trump, and that is simply not true.

This is the 103rd consecutive month of job growth. Most of that came under Obama.

We hope that all the Democrats running for president run on the economic comparisons between Trump and Obama that our Liberal Pal phx8 has provided. If so, nearly everyone will know they are liars.

We are curious phx8, are you still a disciple of Paul Krugman? He was your financial guru and predicted economic calamity when Trump won the election. What happened?

We are certain that all those who now have jobs, all the manufacturing that has come back to the US, all the gains made in middle class income, all the middle class income tax relief (average of around !,000), all the increase in value of middle class retirement funds and mutual funds will acknowledge the efforts of…of…of…Obama. (Laughter)

We know that deep recessions are typically followed by even more powerful recoveries. The Obama recovery is the weakest on record despite following a severe recession.

Obama choked off the air supply (money) necessary for recovery with vast new federal spending, gargantuan debt, massive regulation, a government health care takeover, and endless bashing of businessmen, profits and the “rich”.

Biden is already in trouble with his mental fatigue leading to “loose lip” mistakes. We have the popcorn and soda ready for the greatest “political” show on the planet when twenty-two Democrats all begin to trash each other during the debates.

The Consumer Confidence index has hovered around 160 in recent months, significantly higher than it was at the same time in the administrations of every president dating back to Carter.

This is very good news for President Trump. It means much more than simple popularity polling. Consumers are more confident when they have a job and money to spend or save.

If we listen to some of the Socialist Liberals running for president we hear them promise higher taxes, higher energy costs, higher food costs, and more misery for the middle class.

Krugman is a Nobel Prize winner. He missed a call. He made a lot of other good ones. But I do not follow any particular economic or financial advisor.

So how is the coal doing? Steel? Still declining.

LOLOLOL.

You don’t know, do you.

We are still in the Obama recovery. Trump only had to not screw it up. To date, there have been two major changes- tax cuts and tariffs. Tax cuts generated a year of big gains for the stock market because the majority of the tax cut money went to corporations- specifically, stock buybacks- and not workers. Under Obama, there were 30 big corporations that paid zero taxes. (We’re talking Amazon big). Now there are 60. Zero taxes.

Because of the tariffs there have been zero successful negotiations by the Trump administration. Zero. Successful. Negotiations. The NAFTA deal disappeared into limbo because of the tariffs on Canada and Mexico. The US backed out of TPP and we have nothing to show for that either, nothing.

Gee, RF, you spent years, literally years, denouncing Obama for debt and deficits. Obama was more successful than any president in history at reducing the federal deficit. Now, tax cuts have blown up the debt and deficits, and you are very quiet about that.

These tax breaks for some corporations were also occurring under Obama. Depreciation, and other corpprate tax loopholes have existed for many decades.

Perhaps it is because Obama, other presidents, and Congress persons recognize corporate taxation as double+ taxation, in which the corporate taxes are actually a hidden tax that is passed on to consumers?

Corporate taxation significantly higher than the global average of 20% simply motivatrd corporations to move out of the U.S.A., and lowering the corporate tax rate to 21% resulted in the return of many corporations and money to the U.S.A.

IF anyone wants to complain about unfair taxation, they should look at the difference between the zero-to-15% (up to 20% after 2018) capital gains tax rates, and the taxes on wages for most taxpayers (i.e. 15.3% FICA taxes + up to 32% federal income taxes, for a total of up to 47.3%).

That is, an overall tax rate up to 47.3%
on wage earners is far too high, and much higher than capital gains tax rates. How is that fair?

The severely bloated and wasteful federal government (consider $70 Billion per year in Medicare waste and fraud) receives more than enough in tax revenues. The federal government needs to cut spending, and cut tax rates on wages, not raise taxes.

The federal government wastes hundreds of billion$-to-trillion$ annually, yet phx8 is worried about $79 Billion in tax loop-holes for corporations, and corporate taxes, which are actually hidden taxes on consumers.

Of course true to form he then tells me “It appears that our Pal j2t2, using his imaginary mind, found a fellow “gravedigger”.”. This has a two fold importance here on WB. First he did what he said he wasn’t going to do, attack the messenger. Second it shows us how conservatives in general and Royal in particular does exactly what he tells us he isn’t doing. This is an excellent example of psychological projecting.

Of course it doesn’t stop there. Our freinds on WB then go on to amaze us.

Truly, I don’t understand why this surprises anyone.

It’s not that they are surprised as we have told them over and over again, it is simply they cannot comprehend how foolish their worship of Trump is. They have been co-opted. The cognitive dissonance is so great they just can’t help themselves.

So which comment is the more foolish? Hard to say, I choose these comments as great samples of foolish statements, but which one is more foolisg? You guys tell me.

“He must be agonizing over why their stoic angels in the Democratic party simply stood by and allowed the Right to pass all these laws.” As if both houses of Congress weren’t in repub control when the “Trump tax reform” law was passed.

Or, “These tax breaks for some corporations were also occurring under Obama. Depreciation, and other corpprate tax loopholes have existed for many decade” as if this somehow justifies an additional tax cut under Trump and it isn’t Trumps fault.

Then of course we have the deflection “corporations only pay taxes on profits.
IF they don’t show a profit, they don’t pay corporate tax.
What part of that do you not understand?” as if no profits were the reason these companies paid zero taxes.

Then we have the personal attacks “phx8 refuses to see the benefits of lowering the corporate tax rate (21%) to almost as low as the global average rate. phx8 ignores the low employment rates now, and record numbers receiving welfare under Obama. phx8 conveniently ignores all of this” as if zero taxes is equal to 20%! Or low unemployment and welfare for poorer people are good reasons to have zero taxes!

Then we have more projecting with this gem “Here’s another big lie from the “horse’s” ah, mouth? “Under Obama, there were 30 big corporations that paid zero taxes. (We’re talking Amazon big). Now there are 60. Zero taxes.”
Pure unadulterated “horse” apples. I challenge phx8 to provide proof from a government source. ” as if it weren’t possible these companies paid zero taxes!

So guys are you still sticking with the personal attacks, projections and deflections? Or can you wade through the cognitive dissonance enough to tell us you still support the Trump tax cuts?

That is a grossly irresponsible comment. You will never go to a place with no government. But you want all the good things government provides for free, no matter how much debt or deficit is created.

“Something tells me that this refusal to accept the results of the Mueller report is nothing but an attempt to deflect…”

Wanting Congress to see an unredacted report is deflection?
Wanting to hear Mueller to testify is an attempt to deflect?

What do you think the Mueller Report says?

Again, here is the link:

It is easy to use and searchable.
And just to keep this in perspective, the title is “Report On The Investigation Into Russian Interference In The 2016 Presidential Election.”

The SCO spun off at least 12 investigations because they did not meet the narrow focus of “The Investigation Into Russian Interference In The 2016 Presidential Election.” The spin-offs include investigations into the Trump Inauguration and the Trump Organization. We don’t now the contents of the others, nor do we know anything about the two ongoing counterintelligence investigations that are continuing.

So far, the Mueller team has made at least 199 indictments of 37 people (including 3 Russian organizations). The Campaign Manager is in jail. The Deputy Campaign Manager has pleaded guilty to felonies and awaits sentencing. The National Security Advisor has pleaded guilty to felonies and awaits sentencing. Absolutely.

The overall tax rate is up to 47.3% (i.e. 2 x 7.65% for Social Security and Medicare taxes + up to 32% for federal income taxes, for a total of up to 47.3%) on wage earners, which is far too high, and much higher than capital gains tax rates of ZERO-to-20%.
How is that fair?
Therefore, taxes should be lowered for wage earners to match capital gains tax rates.

Mitt Romney paid 14% in taxes on $42 Million, because capital gains tax rates are much lower.
Why is it that Democrats, who supposedly fight for the little guy, are not fighting for tax rates that are more fair for wage earners ? Not a peep!?
Perhaps it is because Democrats are not really for the working people at all ?
Especially if you consider the Democrats’ platform.

Ahh… the PC police hypocritically deflecting for him his buddies… anybody surprised? Sure beats an honest response, doesn’t it D.?

Therefore, taxes should be lowered for wage earners to match capital gains tax rates.

Wow now that is some serious conservative logic D.. Lets continue with this stone age conservatism logic -

Why not lower the rates to the same rates multi national corporations don’t pay on their profits? If we all paid zero taxes on the first 11 billion it could be a conservative utopia with free rides for all. We could drown the government in the bath tub, Who needs it, the police already stop and seize cash from anyone they choose. Let them fund themselves. The military can invade and conquer grabbing the loot they need to support themselves.

But hey… lets just keep the rates at the cap gains level and get rid of everything, screw everyone on SS and Medicare/Medicaid, the vets, because private health care and criminals screw us out of 70 billion a year!

The debt, screw em. Hey… wait… if no one will loan us money lets just disband the government completely, get rid of all the laws and only the Constitution will be needed. The cost of education will come down as will health care with all those benevolent corporations running things. The free market will solve all problems.

Asymmetric intelligibility refers to two languages that are considered partially mutually intelligible, but where one group of speakers has more difficulty understanding the other language than the other way around. If, for example, one language is related to another but has simplified its grammar, the speakers of the original language may understand the simplified language, but not vice versa.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with his U.S. counterpart Mike Pompeo in Finland on Monday after which he warned that U.S. military intervention in Venezuela would be catastrophic and unjustified.

The two men met on the sidelines of a meeting of the Arctic Council in Finland.

Lavrov told reporters his meeting had been constructive and that the two top diplomats had made decent progress when it came to discussing strategic nuclear stability.

Lavrov also said he was sure that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump would have another chance to meet again after their summit in Helsinki last year.

C’mon Phx8, nobody is advocating for no government. Does limited government and low representative taxation ring a bell?
Our debate has always been over what government is responsible for. I believe governments job is to run government, you believe it’s job is to provide free stuff so that it can run lives.
And seeing how your approval and disapproval of debt and deficits are totally dependent on whether your party is in power or not, please don’t try to lecture me it.

The Mueller report is out and, just like I said, you guys won’t accept the findings: “the evidence was not sufficient to charge that any member of the Trump Campaign conspired with representatives of the Russian government to interfere in the 2016 election.”

And, like I said, you are now acting like all your ‘proof’ is hidden in the redacted parts. It’s not.
The only reason you want Congress to see an unredacted report is the hope that something, anything, embarrassing to Trump can be created that will carry through to the 2020 election. Anything to deflect from the terrible list of extremist dem candidates.

The same is true with you wanting Mueller to testify. He didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear, so now you want a soundbite of him saying that he at least thinks Trump is guilty.

Thanks for the link, but I’ve been reading through the report since it became available online. Why you believe people who don’t agree with your version of it haven’t read it yet, is beyond me.

“We don’t now the contents of the others, nor do we know anything about the two ongoing counterintelligence investigations that are continuing.”

Then why are you assuming and praying for the worst to be true? IF something wrong was done it will be found and hopefully justice will be served.

“So far, the Mueller team has made at least 199 indictments of 37 people (including 3 Russian organizations)”

None of which has anything to do with Trump colluding with the Russians in order to steal the election.

You’re a smart guy Phx8, it is beneath you to continue to grasp at these straws just because you disagree with people politically.

Phx8,

“Attorney General William Barr and his staff have been working with Mueller’s team for the better part of a month to identify — and remove — segments of the document that contain the following four categories of sensitive information”

https://www.npr.org/2019/04/18/713974980/see-how-much-of-the-mueller-report-is-redacted

Are you saying that AG Barr and his staff worked with the Mueller team for a month, to hide incriminating evidence against Trump, that the Mueller team itself had put in the Muller report?

What do you guys, the dems in the House, and your media, think is hiding in the redactions that proves collusion?

kctim,
“… your approval and disapproval of debt and deficits are totally dependent on whether your party is in power or not…”

Not so. Once the economy regained its feet I thought Congress should have raised taxes, and I said so. The idea never received consideration by either side. About the best the Democrats could manage was to oppose tax cuts. The influence of money has corrupted our system so badly, we can’t even act in our own best interests.

This has been an extraordinarily long bull market and long economic recovery. Eventually there will be another economic downturn. It is not a matter of if, but when, and when that happens, we will enter the downturn with a severely constricted ability to stimulate the economy with tax cuts and spending increases. In a nutshell, we are creating a debt bubble. Interest rates are still historically low…

“… the evidence was not sufficient to charge that any member of the Trump Campaign conspired with representatives of the Russian government to interfere in the 2016 election.”

It was not sufficient, but that does not mean there was not a lot of evidence. That is essentially what Volume 1 is all about.

And here is the full quote you cited, from page 13 Volume 1:

“The social media campaign and the GRU hacking operations coincided with a series of contacts between Trump Campaign officials and individuals with ties to the Russian government. The Office investigated whether those contacts reflected or resulted in the Campaign conspiring or coordinating with Russia in its election-interference activities. Although the investigation established that the Russian government perceived it would benefit from a Trump presidency and worked to secure that outcome, and that the Campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts, the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

Not to get too far into the weeds, but the bar for a criminal charge of conspiracy is very high. The criteria is NOT the same for impeachment.

As I read it, the Report is basically a roadmap for Congressional impeachment. Mueller leaves it up to Congress whether to proceed. White House Counsel Emmet Flood denounced it because he wanted a decision to prosecute or not prosecute, NOT a roadmap. In a way, he is right. The DOJ criteria stating a president can not be indicted were followed to a ‘t’ by Mueller, and that means the Report was neither fish nor fowl.

This makes it all the more important to see the prosecutor summaries and to hear Mueller testify.

There are a lot of unknowns. What is behind the redactions? Why was there no charge of conspiracy, given the details in the Report?

Barr made things MUCH worse by trying to stall, and then spin with that summary, and then hide critical information about the Mueller letter, hiding the redactions from Congressional oversight, and so on. That was a mistake, a BIG mistake. AG Barr inserted himself into what had been a scrupulously non-partisan process in the worst kind of partisan way, and everyone, liberal and conservative alike, is suffering for his actions.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-a-platinum-coin-could-solve-the-debt-ceiling-problem

…New York Congressman Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat, told Capital New York that although the idea “sounds silly,” it was worth considering, because “when you’re faced with blackmail to destroy the country’s economy, you have to consider things… a petition on the White House’s We the People site to “Direct the United States Mint to make a single platinum trillion dollar coin!” The petition has garnered more than 1,818 signatures, leaving it 23,182 short of the 25,000 necessary for the White House to formally respond.

https://www.businessinsider.com/obama-mint-trillion-dollar-coin-scariest-night-debt-ceiling-2017-1

“I think it was the moment when it seemed that John Boehner didn’t seem to generate the votes to make sure the US didn’t default on our debt,” Obama said, referring to the former House speaker. “We had to start drafting a speech amid the possibility of a government shutdown and default that would most likely have lowered the US’s credit rating, the administration was considering numerous options to avoid the shutdown and deal with the national debt. One of the ideas floated, Obama said, was having the US Treasury mint a coin worth $1 trillion to pay off a good portion of the debt. “We were having these conversations with Jack Lew and others about what options in fact were available

Wiki

The issuance of paper currency is subject to various accounting and quantity restrictions that platinum coinage is not. According to the United States Mint, coinage is accounted for as follows:

Since Fiscal Year (FY) 1996, the Mint has operated under the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund (PEF). As authorized by Public Law 104-52 (codified at 31 U.S.C. § 5136), the PEF eliminates the need for appropriations. Proceeds from the sales of circulating coins to the Federal Reserve Banks (FRB), bullion coins to authorized purchasers, and numismatic items to the public and other customers are paid into the PEF and provide the funding for Mint operations. All circulating, bullion and numismatic operating expenses and capital investments incurred for the Mint’s operations and programs are paid out of the PEF. By law, all funds in the PEF are available without fiscal year limitation. Revenues determined to be in excess of the amount required by the PEF are transferred to the United States Treasury General Fund as off-budget and on-budget receipts. Off-budget receipts consist of seigniorage, the difference between the receipts from the Federal Reserve System from the sale of circulating coins at face value and the full costs of minting and distributing circulating coins. Seigniorage is deposited periodically to the General Fund where it reduces the government’s need to borrow.

The concept of striking a trillion dollar coin that would generate one trillion dollars in seigniorage, which would be off-budget, or numismatic profit, which would be on-budget, and be transferred to the Treasury, is based on the authority granted by Section 31 U.S.C. § 5112 of the United States Code for the Treasury Department to “mint and issue platinum bullion coins” in any denominations the Secretary of the Treasury may choose. Thus, if the Treasury were to mint one trillion dollar coins, it could deposit such coins at the Federal Reserve’s Treasury account instead of issuing new debt.

31 U.S.C. 5112(k) as originally enacted by Public Law 104-208 in 1996:

The Secretary may mint and issue bullion and proof platinum coins in accordance with such specifications, designs, varieties, quantities, denominations, and inscriptions as the Secretary, in the Secretary’s discretion, may prescribe from time to time.

In 2000, the word “bullion” was replaced with “platinum bullion coins”.[

Platinum bullion coins can, by this statute, be minted in any denomination, whereas coins in any other specified metal are restricted to amounts of $50, $25, $10, $5 and $1.[9] This is the origin of the concept of minting a very high denomination coin, since the platinum clause provides the only loophole.

Philip N. Diehl, former director of the United States Mint and with Republican Congressman Michael Castle co-author of the platinum coin law, has said the procedure would be permitted by the statute.[5] However, Castle says he never intended such a use. The platinum coinage provision was eventually passed by a Republican Congress over the objections of a Democratic Treasury in 1996.

Laurence Tribe, a constitutional law professor at Harvard Law School, said the legal basis of the trillion dollar coin is sound and that the coin could not be challenged in court as no one would have standing to do so.[12] Professor Jonathan H. Adler of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law has said that he believes the legality of the trillion dollar coin to be dubious.[13]

You are free to write nasty, racist, hateful comments like these, but you don’t like to see your own comments?
This is just the tip of the iceberg, because the archives go all the way back to MAY-2003, and there are some real doozies in there that you wrote.
For example:

Would this be considered too politically incorrect by our sensitive religious friends who worry about getting into heaven, or landing in a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem? [sillychildishvoice]
I am going to heaven and you are not. [sillychildishvoice]

Another chick named miriam supposedly had an intimate relationship with Joshua bar Joseph, and there is actually a lawsuit going on about it in London this week, even though it is mostly unprovable mythology. I am for Michael Baigent, and Richard Leigh. I guess Henry Lincoln is not party to the suit. Dan Brown is a thief.

And for Islam, many of the worst aspects of the middle ages actually came from that culture, which was more advanced than the European dirty sloppy drunks of the time, but the guys that came before them were no bargain either.

It appears a 2nd version of the Mueller report was released, but doesn’t seem to provide new information, but does reveal why certain information was withheld.

The letter points to FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) exemptions pertaining to national security, grand jury proceedings and ongoing law enforcement actions. It also cites exemptions that would reveal law enforcement tactics as well as information that could violate individuals’ right to privacy and right to a fair trial or other legal processes.

But Jerry Nadler and disgruntled Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee vowed to hold A.G. William Barr in contempt after he missed a deadline to hand over the entire (non-redacted) Mueller report and underlying evidence.

Rep. Eric Swalwell said “I Won’t Accept Barr’s Version Of Mueller Report Unless Mueller Himself Testifies That It Is True”.

The Democrats won’t let it go.
Hopefully, there will be consequences for those (in the deep state) who pushed the Trump-Russian collusion hoax, and weaponization of the FBI and DOJ, etc.

  • Hillary’s camp created and paid for the infamous “Steele Dossier” which claims that President Trump committed collusion with the Russian government.
  • This classic frame-up is still going on as Hillary smiles at her accusers;
  • this truly amounts to high-tech treason, and the fake news press, corrupt FBI, DOJ, and other officials did unbelievable things covering for Hillary, and continue to cover for Hillary, and many were working under the assumption that she would become the next U.S. president;
  • there was corruption at the highest echelons of those agencies and serial abuse of the secret FISA process surrounding the 2016 election.
  • High-ranking officials and other major players in those agencies — which Obama oversaw — are part of the deep-state scandal: James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Andrew McCabe, Andrew Weissmann, Sally Yates, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bruce Ohr, James Clapper, John Brennan;
  • These kinds of abuses of power were nothing new, given the Obama team’s long history of this type of misconduct on everything from the Benghazi terror attack to the political misuse of the IRS.
  • They weaponized the most fearsome government agencies to target, monitor, spy on, and illegally unmask political opponents, including members of Congress, journalists reporting unfavorable stories, Trump allies, and average Americans.
  • Obama created a climate in which the potentially criminal misuse of the DOJ and the FBI, as currently being unraveled, was not just acceptable but perhaps encouraged, thereby giving rise to what could be the most dangerous hoax/scandal in American history.
Looks like the hoax may eventually back-fire on the culprits behind the hoax, and that might be why the Democrats keep desperately pushing and hoping they can find something in the Mueller report that others have not yet found? They are desperately in search of a reason to impeach Trump, and they are abusing the federal systems to that end.

IF the “Collusion Delusion and Obstruction Conspiracy Theorists” (i.e. Democrats) looked at the plummeting ratings for CNN and MSNBC, they’d realize that the majority of voters have moved on.
But the likes of Jerry Nadler, Eric Swalwell, Dick Blumenthal, Ms. “shut up” Macie Hirono, “lying and leaking” Adam Schiff, “Pocahontas” Elizabeth Warren, Corey Booker, Kamal Harris, Bernie Sanders, “Cryin’” Chuck Schumer, “Impeach that Mo********er” Rashida Tlaib, Jim Clyburn, “Crooked” Hillary Clinton, Pete Buttigieg, Seth Moulton, and similar ilk are still digging that hole (that they are standing in) ever deeper, as they attack William Barr, and try to subpoena Mueller.
Good luck with that, eh? Especially since Mueller’s own report already ended without credible evidence to support more indictments, nor impeachment.

But, this is all a good thing, because the majority of voters are getting tired of the whining Democrats and their (i.e. Jerry Nadler’s) attempts to hold Barr in contempt for refusing to release the entire (unredacted) Mueller report (which would be illegal).

I said from the first day that the Mueller investigation will end up with a few convictions for perjury. It ended up with the equivalent process crimes, but for the most part my prediction came true.

Democratics are so stunningly obvious and predictable it is impossible to understand why they can’t see it for themselves. Perhaps they are still ruled by the thought we are all stupid and they are superior.

Ha ha! I’m shaking in my boots!

Yeah, that 2+ year investigation was investigating the wrong people.

Ha ha! I see Democrats in Congress are making fools of themselves again (i.e. voting to hold A.G. William Barr in contempt of Congress).
But this is a good thing, as Democrats continue to abuse their subpoena power, and continue to insist that A.G. William Barr violate the law by demanding the non-redacted Mueller report.
Hopefully, these Democrats will keep pushing for impeachment, so that more and more voters can see how low Democrats will stoop, while searching for a crime, despite nothing found after:

  • 2+ years of investigations;
  • 19 lawyers
  • 40 FBI agents, analysts, accountants, & other staff
  • 2800 subpoenas
  • 500 search warrants
  • 230 communication records
  • 13 requests to foreign governments
  • 500 witnesses
  • testimony by A.G. William Barr
Jerry Nadler and other democrats (who are abusing their subpoena power) are the gifts that keeps on giving.

Yep d.a.n. the circus continues. I think the congressman from Georgia let the cat out of the bag by using the “I” word in his statement on why they need the documents.

LOL ! Yeah, that was funny! The Rep. from Georgia slipped and said we “need the documents to impeach” Trump.
More proof that Democrats are in-search of a crime, and are thoroughly upset that they don’t have one yet.
Some might say it is all a waste of time-and-money, but it’s more likely a good thing, because ratings and polls are showing that the majority of voters see it as theater, and Democrats abusing their power and wasting time-and-money.
  • The 1st funny point is that Jerry Nadler (and a few other Democrats) have had access to the full Mueller report, but they have not availed themselves to go to the DOJ to view it!
Does that sound like they are truly confident that there is evidence of an impeachable offense?
  • The 2nd funny point is that the Democrats admitted that they are holding A.G. William Barr in-contempt of Congress for not producing the full (non-redacted) Mueller report, despite the fact that doing so would be illegal, due to issues with national security, grand jury proceedings, ongoing law enforcement actions, revelations about law enforcement tactics, information that could violate individuals’ right to privacy, and right to a fair trial or other legal processes.
  • The 3rd funny point is that 2+ years of investigations (19 lawyers, 40 FBI agents, analysts, accountants, & other staff, 2800 subpoenas, 500 search warrants, 230 communication records, 13 requests to foreign governments, 500 witnesses, and testimony by A.G. William Barr) turned up no grounds for impeachment.
  • The 4th funny point is that there may be investigations into how this entire hoax got started, and that may be making some Democrats nervous (i.e. high-ranking officials and other major players in the hoax — which Obama also oversaw (part of the deep-state scandal): James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Andrew McCabe, Andrew Weissmann, Sally Yates, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bruce Ohr, James Clapper, John Brennan, Hillary Clinton, etc.
So, the entire hoax might end up back-firing on them?
But, this is probably all a good thing for Democrats to continue to dig that hole (that their standing in) ever deeper, and continue to be the gift that keeps on giving.

There can be no doubt that the Democrat Party, and its leaders, are being led around by the nose by a small, but dangerous Left of Left Wing of the Party.

These critters were elected in 2018 for the express purpose of destroying our country and way of life. We have allowed “Satan” to enter the sanctuary of our congress.

I watched some of the judiciary committee contempt hearings on AG Barr. The level of stupidity and hate in that chamber was breath-taking. It is difficult to believe any elected representative of the United States government could participate in such an obvious act of political disregard for morality, law, and established order.

Some of the arguments used by Democrats on the committee would require suspension of belief. To ask the Attorney General of the United States to knowingly break the law is inexcusable and juvenile.

Some Democrats seem oblivious of the damage ensuing if classified information became public. They care not if secret Grand Jury witness names become public.

These Democrats are beneath contempt.

Yeah, I’ve been watching it too, and I watched Barr’s testimony about a week ago.
Amazing. The Democrats are not afraid to stoop to new lows.
Democrats called Barr a liar, now hold Barr “in-contempt” because Barr refused to release the full non-redacted Mueller report (to a very LEAKY Congress), despite the fact that doing so would be illegal, due to issues with national security, grand jury proceedings, ongoing law enforcement actions, revelations about law enforcement tactics, information that could violate individuals’ right to privacy, and right to a fair trial or other legal processes.

I just saw Cryin’ Chuck Schumer saying that they need to do their job to find a way to remove Trump.

And Pelosi said that the House of Representatives is the SUPERIOR (not co-equal) branch of government.

But, this is probably all a good thing for Democrats - to continue to dig that hole (that their standing in) ever deeper, and continue to be the gift that keeps on giving.
