Normal in America - The Veteran, The Catholic Kids, & The Black Hebrew Israelites

We’ve all seen the viral video of the apparent stand-off in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington between a teenage student at a Kentucky Catholic school (Covington Catholic High School) and a native veteran beating a drum in a strange sort of confrontation.

But what occurred in D.C. after The March for Life was not what most of the media is still reporting and what trolls and SJW's have turned into a dox-fest that is threatening students and parents alike.

What was portrayed as a bunch of white kids from a Catholic School surrounding and taunting a native veteran (even Red State's Sarah Quinlan took the bait, hook line and sinker) was in fact the native's attempt to insert himself between what had been an attack by a crazed sect on the kids from Covington.

The real antagonists appear to be around 4 adult members of the Black Hebrew Israelites, according to Reason's Robby Soave. The BHI were founded in the late 19th century and believe themselves to be descendants of the Israelites in what seems to have been a sort of transfiguration of the spiritual and metaphorical links they felt black Americans had with the ancient Israelites into the assertion of actual genealogical links or bloodlines as they might have claimed. Or something like that.

America is about radical experiments in freedom of worship. We all get that. But some of those experiments have been less fortunate than others. And unfortunately, the Black Hebrew Israelites reportedly engage in what could be called hate crimes or at least aggressive attacks on whites, gays, and others. It has been reported that they are even on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of hate groups and are characterized as becoming more militant lately and are also characterized as black supremacists.

It was their taunts and jeers towards the (mostly) white kids from Covington that attracted Nathan Phillips, the elder native veteran who got it all wrong. He described his actions, "These young men were beastly and these old black individuals was their prey, and I stood in between them and so they needed their pounds of flesh and they were looking at me for that."

No Mr. Phillips the men acting in an ugly and aggressive manner were the members of what might have been the D.C. chapter of the Black Hebrew Israelites. The kids responded with school chants and you moved in like a self-righteous vigilante and sold the world a lie.

Aside from whether mainstream media offers any corrections or apologies (I see that NPR has a piece about competing "narratives" of the event which is a great way of saying who the hell knows what happened, when the evidence suggests a reasonably clear scenario regarding who did what) there is another point to this story.

It is not ironic - not in the original dramatic sense of the word - that this took place in front of the Lincoln Memorial. It is fitting.

In a provocative essay at lawliberty.org, political science professor James Rogers (Texas A&M) posits that the polarization we so lament lately is in fact a return to the norm for American society and politics. He cites two destabilizing events that were so powerful they disrupted the norm and produced a reaction that lasted generations in both cases.

First the Civil War produced such dramatic changes in America that the political landscape in its aftermath was littered with extreme views and violent polarization. As Rogers puts it, "Americans tend to forget the angry, bitter, and even violent extremism on both sides of the political spectrum from roughly 1880 through the start of World War II. We forget the politically-motivated assassination of President William McKinley in 1901. Anarchists targeted leading political and business figures with numerous mail bombs in 1919. Violence aside, the Socialist Party presidential candidate attracted six percent of the popular vote in 1912, and over 16 percent in 1924 (candidate Robert La Follette received almost five million votes that year)."

While we think of WW I as a key event in the World's history, the effects of the Civil War were still being felt in America through the 20's and 30's. As Rogers states, "Extremism during this period was certainly not limited to the left. During the 1920s, membership in the Ku Klux Klan peaked at somewhere between 4 to 6 million members--a significant percentage of the eligible population of the time. During this period the Klan not only advocated white supremacy, but was anti-Catholic, pro-Prohibition (part of its anti-Catholicism), anti-Semitic and anti-immigrant. During this time the Klan's violence targeted political outsiders, as opposed to the political and business leaders the anarchists targeted. Moreover, the Klan's violence was concentrated particularly in the South in support of Jim Crow oppression of blacks, with some violence aimed against bootleggers."

And then Hitler, Stalin and World War II, along with Pearl Harbor and the Imperial Japanese wars of conquest in the Pacific and East and South Asia, changed America fundamentally once again. Rogers continues,

"WW II wrung out a large measure of this extremism on both sides of the spectrum. Beyond the homogenizing tendencies promoted by the War effort itself, post-War prosperity, government suppression, and additional social pressure to conform stemming from the Cold War, all muted extremism during and immediately after the War.

The return of American extremism, particularly violent extremism, has not been as seamless as the increase in polarization, with episodes punctuating post-War American history. Nonetheless, recent trends herald the return of sizeable blocks of both socialist and nativist constituencies not seen since the 1920s.

Looking around today, the disruptions of the two wars have dissipated; the U.S. increasingly reflects its inherent, longer-run political tendencies. Tendencies that, in the short-to-medium-term can be overwhelmed by more pressing commitments forged in the heat of war. Nonetheless, what we are witnessing today is pretty much who we are politically. Bitter political disagreement is the underlying pull of American politics, no matter how that pull might be papered over, sometimes for decades. The increasing polarization and extremism we see today in America is, for better or for worse, only a return American normalcy."

There is a direct logical link between the America Lincoln knew and that ugly, little, misreported confrontation in the gaze of his statue. No, it doesn't mean civil war of some kind is coming, even if a cultural civil war is being fought right now, it just means that the lack of functionality in Congress is not due to the cowardliness of your local representative or the hypocrisy of your senator (and your rep may in fact be an Iraq War veteran and your senator an outspoken critic who tells it as he or she sees it). It is a reflection of a return to an increasing polarization.

A polarization that America has often lived with in its past.

The U.S.A. is polarized, because of the growing numbers of extremists on the left, with such a pathetic sense of entitlement, that want the government to wipe their lazy butts for them, want the government to take care of them from cradle-to-grave, want the government to help give them everything for free, want to try to disguise their jealousy and envy as demands for equality, and resort to playing the race card at every opportunity possible, name-calling, and mob-like behavior and violence when they don’t get their way.

A Harvard-Harris Poll (17-to-19-JAN-2018); 980 persons polled (source: www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jan/23/roughly-80-of-all-voters-say-us-needs-secure-borde/ ):

  • 79%: (87%Rep, 79%Ind, 72%Dem): Want Merit Based Immigration
  • 79%: (93%Rep, 80%Ind, 68%Dem): Want Secure Borders
  • 61%: (84%Rep, 64%Ind, 40%Dem): Say Current Border is Inadequate
  • 68%: (78%Rep, 65%Ind, 62%Dem): Want to End the VISA Lottery
  • 54%: (85%Rep, 54%Ind, 30%Dem): Want physical and electronic border barrier
  • 60%: (93%Rep, 80%Ind, 68%Dem): Say NO to DACA Relatives
QUESTION: What is the real issue? What is the common-thread in all that the Democrats do? Why do Democrats despicably pit U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants against each other ?
ANSWER: for the votes, money, and power. It’s not easy to get much lower than this.

Compare this to the comparatively miniscule $5.7 Brillion requested for security barriers (which many Democrats approved spending for in previous years).

Then consider 2,000 homicides per day (5.5 per day) by criminal non-citizens (source: DHS, GAO, www.gao.gov/assets/320/316959.pdf ; www.cnsnews.com/news/article/craig-bannister/dems-snub-dhs-presentation-detailing-illegal-immigration-threat-during )

We are witnessing in this country right now, a battle between the Bill of Rights, and political correctness.

I stand with our Founders and the Constitution.

I would ad that this is not the battle they should hang their hats on. If the leftists hateful racism, attacking religion, and death threats bring any harm to these kids, it will backfire big time on them.

You are right about that comment kctim.

I had trouble believing both my eyes and ears this morning when I heard this on ABC’s “The View”.

Both Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar were, for some reason, telling the truth.

I do believe that the social and political pendulum has swung as far Left as it can, without breaking the clock, and it will soon begin its inevitable swing back towards the center.

The media led with the short clip of the kid smiling. It ran behind a narrative formed by the older drum beater. The question is:
Did the person writing the initial story that framed the smiling kid, and only the smiling kid, behind the drummer’s story, fail to gather the rest of the data, or did he have the extra data and refused to include it in favor of the bash Trump agenda?

Either we have an incompetent media controlling the opinion of an entire country, or we have a deceitful media controlling an agenda.

Neither are valid or protected by the constitution.

It was definitely a calculated and intentional attempt to frame the Covington students as being crazy, rude, and scary conservatives wearing MAGA hats.

Fortunately, someone else was there to record the truth.

That event needs to be added to this list of evidence of mob-like behavior by many Democrats and other leftists.

And many Democrats (some now or previously in Congress) have repeatedly egged on this type of mob-like behavior.
For example::

  • CA. Representative Maxine Waters said: “If you see anybody from the [Trump] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station — you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. Tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere!”

The same people attacking these kids are the same people who cheer, justify or ignore things like this: A real Vet attacked

None of this is actually about Trump, it’s about moving away from our Constitution. To transform the country into something it was never meant to be: a leftist state.
Hate, identity politics and violence are the weapons of choice.

Unfortunately, those on the right are notorious for doing nothing to stop it. They just want to work, to take care of their families, and to be left alone to live their lives as they wish. Because of this, they will once again cave and the country will continue its journey into far-left extremism.

True.
It is all rooted in excessive selfishness (laziness, envy, greed, and lust for power) of Socialist/leftist extremists, who:

  • (1) want the government to take care of them from cradle-to-grave;
  • (2) want the government to wipe their lazy butts for them;
  • (3) want to ride in the wagon while everyone else pushes the wagon;
  • (4) want the government to help give them everything for free, as some master parasites within government gain power by fostering a pathetic sense of entitlement, and perpetuating the myth that we all can somehow live at the expense of everyone else;
  • (5) want the government to help them to disguise their jealousy and envy as demands for equality;
  • (6) want to play the race card at every opportunity possible (as demonstrated by their habitual socialist comments, name-calling, racist, rude, and vulgar responses, etc.; similar to j2t2, phx8, and Ed O’hrealy comments over the many years);
  • (7) want to acquire more power via more votes and money:
    • (7.01) because many Democrats, most of the Main Stream Media, others on the left, and similar ilk (despicably) pit U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants against each other for votes, by pandering to illegal immigrants for 30+ years for more votes (via more representation in the House, via more U.S. House representatives, via apportionment of representatives (i.e. more electoral votes, and more federal funding), based on population, based on the decennial CENSUS, which does not verify U.S. citizenship;
    • (7.02) because many Democrats are also fighting against a check-box on the CENSUS, despite the check-box being totally inadequate to prove citizenship. Democrats disguise their desire for power (for THEIR party) as compassion for illegal immigrants, while despicably pitting U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants against each other for votes and money.
    • (7.03) because many Democrats (and most of the main stream media) lie about crime by illegal immigrants, and refuse to report the 2 thousand (or more) homicides per year by criminal non-citizens (source: DHS); and 32% of everyone in federal prison is a criminal non-citizen (source: Source#3: cis.org/Huennekens/32-Federal-Inmates-Are-Aliens);
    • (7.04) because many Democrats (and most of the main stream media) lie about how massive illegal (or legal) immigration is costing U.S. tax payers $296+ Billion (www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/sep/21/mass-immigration-costs-govt-296-billion-year-natio/) per year in net losses (which does not include all costs, and does not include the cost of crime by illegal immigrants); that is a net loss of about $2,349.00 per year per household (126.22 Million households in 2017), or $916 per year per person (U.S. population=323 Million in 2017);
    • (7.05) because many Democrats are calling for open borders;
    • (7.06) because many Democrats are calling to abolish I.C.E. (Immigration and Customs Enforcement);
    • (7.07) because many Democrats want another shamnesty, like the shamnesty of 1986;
    • (7.08) because many Democrats refuse legislation to require employers to use eVerify (to verify eligibility for employment);
    • (7.09) because many Democrats want to give illegal immigrants drivers’ licenses, and also automatically register them to vote;
    • (7.10) because many Democrats want more mayors like Libby Schaaf (Oakland, CA), who warns illegal immigrants (including criminal illegal immigrants) before an ICE raid to arrest criminal illegal immigrants;
    • (7.11) because many Democrats want more sanctuary cities and states, like California, where Democrats have passed sanctuary city and sanctuary state laws that protect criminal illegal immigrants (i.e. an illegal immigrant by the name of Garcia Zarate (who had already been deported 5 times) can shoot and murder Kate Steinle, and be (www.cnn.com/2017/11/30/us/kate-steinle-murder-trial-verdict/index.html)for that murder, despite Zarate admitting to shooting the weapon that killed Kate Steinle (which should have been, at the very least, manslaughter);
    • (7.12) because many Democrats want to abolish the 2nd amendment, but many Democrats and many on the left call for restricting or eliminating 2nd Amendment rights, and say it is worth it “even if it saves only ONE life”, but conveniently ignore about 2 thousand people killed per year by criminal non-citizens (sources: www.cnsnews.com/news/article/craig-bannister/dems-snub-dhs-presentation-detailing-illegal-immigration-threat-during ; www.gao.gov/assets/320/316959.pdf );
  • (8) want to resort to mob-like behavior against anyone who disagrees with them (i.e. using forcible and violent suppression of the opposition, which is an element of fascism).
QUESTION: Why do Democrats, socialists, and similar ilk do all of that (above)? What is the common-thread in all of the above?
ANSWER: They do it for more votes, money, and power for THEIR party. It is all rooted in excessive selfishness (laziness, envy, greed, and lust for power) of Socialist/leftist extremists. It’s not easy to get much lower than that.

    The Harris/CAPS poll today shows Trump’s approval rating at 43%. Next to Rasmussen, they are rated the least accurate of the major pollsters by 538. That doesn’t render Harris or Rasmussen useless when it comes to presidential approval ratings, it just means the bias should be considered. I’ve noticed Rasmussen consistently shows a bias of 3-4% towards the GOP. Take that out, and Rasmussen falls in line with the rest of the major pollsters.

    KAP,
    “… like the poll that had Hillary the 45th president…”
    HRC won by 2%, that is, 3 million votes. It seems Trump believed them, because he kept working on a Russian Trump Tower project right up until November 2016, despite saying dozens of times that he was not doing any business with Russia. The deal included a $50 million dollar penthouse on the top floor reserved for Putin. That bribe compromised Trump.

    Let’s see how supporting a traitor works out for you.

    d.a.n.,
    The ‘end of the world’ due to Global Warming is inaccurate. What they were trying to convey is that the damage done will hit a point of no return by 2030.

    I don’t think there is an exact point of no return. However, the amount of cO2 absorbed by the oceans is more than anyone realized, and it has steadily increased in an arithmetical progression for the past ten years or more. That means warmer oceans and rising PH levels. That means hurricanes and storms will carry more energy, more water, and it means that once the ocean warms to a certain point, ecosystems will collapse. The PH will render plankton unable to form shells. Coral reefs will die. And most of the life in the ocean will die.

    Will that mean the end of the world? I don’t know about that. But it will be bad. And personally, I think it is already too late to avoid some very, very bad results.

    OMG !!! … the “point of no return” is only 11 years away (by 2030)!!!

    You need to get a new crystal ball.

    The biggest threat is not global warming.

    The biggest threat is human over-population.

    The world population in 1959 was 3.0 billion people.
    Today (JAN-2019), the world population is over 7.3 Billion, and it is increasing now by 211,000 persons per day!

    The world population by 2039 could be 13+ billion.

    Despite the left and its media colluding and conspiring to use the court of public opinion in order to bring down a President of the US, Trump has not been convicted of treason. If you get your wish and Trump is found guilty of actual treason,(which is a strange and VERY damaging thing to wish and hope for ones own country to endure) THEN it can be said that those few still supporting him are supporting a traitor.

    As of right now, people are simply supporting the President of the United States.

    Over the last two billion years, the average global temperature varied from 53.6F to 71.6F, and while current temperatures are not much higher thatn the coldest temperatures, the current trend is on a slight upward trend for several hundred thousand years (on average). However, it’s hard to predict, because there are so many variables that are not yet well understood. For most of the last 2 Billion years, it has been MUCH warmer most of the time, with shorter periods of cold between the warmer periods.
