As Scandal After Scandal Breaks Out - Remember de Tocqueville

This is truly just starting. The analysis will also come and some of it will of course be of the radical, burn-down-maledom sort where if you harbor doubts about a 15-year old transgender boy showering with your 13-year old daughter then you might as well have been cruising the malls back when, looking for underage girls.

But maybe, in the coming wave of the powerful being outed as gropers, grabbers, harassers and sometimes abusers and sometimes as rapists - so far all men as is to be expected but who knows there might be some odd barely-there event where some young aide says he felt "uncomfortable" due to a female politician's joke, with Roy Moore holding up the headlines (ok maybe holding up his cellphone) like Harry Truman back in 48 - maybe in this coming wave we will be spared some of the radical analysis and instead we'll focus on the details of each and e-vuh-rey case to ensure that justice is done. Whoever, whenever, wherever. Due process dually applied.

Ok, no Charlie Rose and the rest often didn't and won't get due process before being fired, but that's a case of CBS and PBS (and whoever else) exercising their property rights to let go of employees they feel are a burden and a harm to their service or product. Yes, PBS has property rights like everyone else. Powerful men are losing their power overnight, heck in a matter of minutes - as long as it took the NYT editorial board to read the Vox article on Glenn Thrush's drunken harassment of co-workers, and no the alcohol is no excuse and never was.

Why so long? Why has it taken a NYT article about a lecherous Hollywood power broker in 2017 for goodness sake for this to happen? I have been looking for a wonderful quote by de Tocqueville on the optimism and confidence of women in America but perhaps a better quote is this one:

Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.

Before you accuse me of being a Christian/Puritan/Taliban let me continue please. It has been clear that a large percentage of men (who knows how to quantify what for many is a subjective, heated point of debate: how do you define "the good." Philosophers have been at it for a while and have largely moved "beyond" it since at least the days of Nietzsche) have been less than good for some time. Infidelity, substance abuse, violence, unemployment and falling self-worth. It's been a hellish downward spiral for many in our post-modern, post-industrial age. But the lack of good we are seeing here comes precisely from those leaders who have succeeded, who have every reason to celebrate life in all its goodness. In every corner of life, including the pulpit of course, some men are proving far less good than needed. And those men who quietly provide for their families, care for their wives and their children and live good and decent lives are laughed at by the media and the elites for the most part. If not always out loud.

So my plea to those women who step by step are taking hold of their rightful share of power is to leave aside the dystopian world of identity politics and rather to remember de Tocqueville's quote as America heals herself from this wave of sexual abuse. Because a legal, rational process can and wil and should do justice once an abuse is committed, but a moral compass is the only way to truly prevent it from ever happening.

Yes, this wave may very well once again wash up against the president himself. We'll see what happens should any accusations re-emerge. And incidentally, is anybody laughing anymore at Vice President Pence's values and how he deals with female co-workers? We men should be lucky to have Mike Pence's moral compass and to live by that compass. Every darn day.

if you harbor doubts about a 15-year old transgender boy showering with your 13-year old daughter

Why would a transgender boy (a man mistakenly assigned female at birth) want to shower with the girls?

It it really too much to ask men to treat their female colleagues the same way they treat their male ones? Reading Keeley’s piece, it seems like Keeley believes men don’t possess the self-control to not violate the women they encounter unless coerced otherwise by religious belief or similar practices.

Who made the mistake, Warren Porter?

We have no need for courts now. It is the allegation that will punish a person. Why bother going through the justice system when a simple accusation will mete out punishment in the workplace. After all, the definition of sexual harassment deals only with the workplace according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Unwelcome $exual advances, requests for $exual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a $exual nature constitute $exual harassment when Submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment, submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individuals, or such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment. (29 C.F.R. ยง 1604.11 [1980])

We might as well go to the next step and modify the 1st amendment to accommodate those who are offended by speech that references $ex, are in bad taste, or are simple misunderstandings.

When most of the headlines saturating the media only report the accusations and none of the facts relating to the charge, how is it possible to seek recompense in a court of law? The punishment must be administered elsewhere, because a court of law requires a defendant to be innocent until proven guilty. You can’t fire an innocent person. You can’t expect payment from an innocent person. You can’t deprive an innocent person of liberty or property. You can only deprive an innocent person of liberty and property outside the court of law, say, in the workplace, where the accusation is enough and the accused has no defense.

So why bother with a court of law? It’s not needed according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and for that matter, according to the many people who read and listen to the media these days. This mindset instills in people a fear that failing to administer punishment at the drop of a hint, will subject them to the same guilt by association the accused must suffer.

This mindset also instills in people a sense of permission to use $exual harassment claims as a weapon to punish or remove the accused for any reason imaginable, because there is an assumption of guilt in these cases and no retribution against those who make false accusations.

Women say they want to be treated the same as men, but they don’t. They’re offended by jokes men will tell other men.

Women go to bars so men will buy them drinks. Men don’t by other men drinks for attention.

Women like having doors opened for them. Men will not think to open a door for another man for the same reason they open it for a woman.

Men won’t stand in front of another man to protect them from flying mud. They’ll laugh their asses off when they get hit by it!

Men will let a woman take advantage of them. They will bankrupt themselves for a woman, not for a man.

Women are treated different than a man because they are women. Period. Perhaps that is why men want to convert themselves into women, to gain the advantages a woman has over men in this society.

Perhaps we should let women change their own flat tires. Perhaps we should quit buying them drinks and dinners and movie time. Perhaps men should refuse to pick up thinks women drop on the ground or lift heavy objects for them, or reach for products on high shelves in supermarkets.

Perhaps we really should treat women the same as men. Let’s give women something they will miss. Let’s stop doing everything we do for them.

“Why would a transgender boy (a man mistakenly assigned female at birth) want to shower with the girls?”

In the normal, non PC BS real world where the vast majority of people live, they use science to determine if one is a male or female of the species.
Keeley clearly meant a 15 year old boy pretending to be a girl and showering with girls, and there is only one legitimate reason he would want to.

“It it really too much to ask men to treat their female colleagues the same way they treat their male ones?”

Of course not, but again, in the normal non PC BS real world where the vast majority of people live, men aren’t attracted to the T&A of their male colleagues.
Men and women will always seek out each other for pleasure, even in the work place. There will always be some who cross the line and the only way to deter that is by holding them accountable.

They should allow the woman who is offended to punch the guy right then and there.

They should let the man do the same thing, since men and women are being treated the same. “Them’s fighting words!” should apply to both sexes, right?

Of course, I’m not serious, but a woman slapping a guy across the face says a lot more than a lengthy he said she said debate with HR or in the media.

I forgot, there’s no debate with HR.

You mean besides the POS? I expect Pence to be inaugurated wearing “mother’s” dress and pearls and become the first trans POTUS.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I can tell you without any reservation Warren that I would not have a meeting with a female at work behind closed doors and windows. I would not hesitate to have the same meeting with a male counterpart.

The comments from conservatives in this thread easily dispell any notion that women’s inferior wages are the result of their own choices.

I’m a man. I told the person interviewing me that I want this job, but I have another job that takes priority over this one. I told the person my other job will have me leave this one on a moment’s notice and it will be unknown when I will be expected back. Also, I expect to be paid for the time I take off work. I also told the person that if I don’t get the position I will file a discrimination lawsuit.

It’s great being a man in the job market these days!

Don’t that beat all;

On one hand we bitch because we’re not seeing actual footage of Trump bullshitting his way through his Presidency, therefore it’s all fake, and on the other we’re using Breitbart as a source of actual news.

Which is going to be, or will we continue to be exposed to this hypocrisy.
