How Hillary Will Keep Bernie From Turning America Into Sweden

Had Bernie Sanders’ father made the short journey across the Baltic Sea from Poland to Sweden, rather than the longer crossing to the promised land of America, his children would have been more likely to skate rather than shoot hoops. And while Bernie has likely strapped on skates more than few times up in Vermont, even he is proud to acknowledge the greatness of his country. Even as he viscerally recalled his mother’s unfulfilled dreams in his post-primary speech.

No one watching that speech can doubt his authenticity, even if it is becoming a cliche. And perhaps a hypocrisy or two of Bernie's will get a little sunlight shone on them. The problem is, when Hillary Clinton is your rival, all the available sunlight is taken up trying to illuminate a multitude of shadowy corners that are part of the Clintons' past.

But the bigger problem for the Vermont Senator, is how he can square his very real conviction that America is indeed a great country, and a land of opportunity, with his plans to convert America into a Scandinavian-style socialist state. The grand irony is that a European-style state like Sweden, or even Germany, tends to produce Hillary Clintons as their leaders. Sharp-eyed hypocrites who cobble together party coalitions, one entitlement at a time.

In a country like Sweden, a Bernie Sanders - a true independent without an established party structure behind him - wouldn't stand a chance. Europe prides itself on having leaders well-groomed in the political process. In other words, long-serving Eurocrats who have climbed the bureaucratic ladder, one committee at a time. Through an established party structure, of course.

America is not the EU, but then again, American academics invented identity politics. And the Democratic Party has been remade in identity politics' image, a process that has accelerated under Obama but was already well underway. And Hillary is the bearer of that brow-beating pantsuit brigade that marches arm in arm with the Black Caucus - Congressional, State, and Local - and the Latino vote.

So relax, America will not be Sweden any time soon, or ever. Sanders does not have a chance in the rest of Democrat country. Everyone says so. Hillary supporters. Wonks at fivethirtyeight. The mainstream media. Identity politics and the corrupt Dem party structure will save America from becoming Sweden. Imagine that.

Agree Keeley. I watched the debates tonight and it was just a repeat of the ‘pig in every poke’ strategy.

Between the two of them, they are going to work on reforming law enforcement, health care for all, increase SS/medicare, amnesty, free education through college level, increase minimum wage to a living wage, protect rights for all, equal pay for women, more leave/vacation/sick/maternity benefits.

Bernie goes further proposing to tax the rich, force big pharmas, wall street and big business to chip in to pay for increased gov’t cost and help equalize the inequality.

Many of these proposals I like. HRC says that Trump’s threatening muslims will encourage them to not talk to cops about terrorists activities. Pandering. As you said, Keeley, identity politics.

Bernie proposes CFR and I like that. But, a President alone can’t get that done. Real CFR reform would take a new 3rd party w/a/dif/pol/att. Nothing less could achieve that feat.

All in all, just more corpocratic BS. Both the dems and reps have had control of gov’t at various times and nothing has been done on amnesty, CFR, living wage, free education, and just go on down the list. Nothing.

The establishment/corpocracy has the folks by the short hairs and they won’t let go without a real fight, 3rd party and all that - - -

Trump is going to make America great again, period.

Good luck with that. But, until we can gin up a new 3rd party w/a/dif/pol/att - - - run Trump Run - - -

Otherwise, we have the corpocracy we deserve.

Between Bernie and Hillary they plan to hire the unemployed, provide free health care, and free education. This, while giving amnesty to some millions of illegals, opening wide for ME refugees, and getting them on the payroll as well.

Does that sound counter intuitive, hypocritical, impossible? Sounds like we are going to ‘nice’ ourselves to death, economically speaking.

Nothing was said in the debates about beefing up border patrols, E-verify, asking Mexico to stop it, or any of that.

Those that resist capture or otherwise can’t get to the U.S, they will be taken care of too.

Nothing was said about the $20T debt. That’s a wow.

Run Trump Run

Otherwise - - -

Despite the fact that you may fit the bill for a bank credit, shutting one can take longer than your window of chance which implies that having an advance you can’t utilize is as futile as not having the capacity to get an advance by any means.
