Cell Phones And The Federal Government

Government Propaganda/Tracking Devices?

Like many men, I wear my cell phone in a holster on my belt. It goes where I go and it remains in the same room in which I sleep every night. If you want to know where I am… just find my cell phone.

It is easy enough to track me as the phone emits a signal, which shows my geographical location, continuously, even now. The only way I have found to defeat that GPS locater system is to remove the battery.

Up to now, when I didn’t want to be reached, I simply turned the phone off. Now, however, with the federal government about to enter the business of contacting me whenever they want and knowing my whereabouts 24 hours a day, I will have to turn off the phone AND, I repeat, AND -- REMOVE THE BATTERY!

If you are still with me, enduring my paranoid rant, and you STILL don’t know what I am venting about, go HERE.

OK. I’ll give you the short version: The federal government is about to begin calling cell phones with what they believe are important messages about terrorism, weather, amber alerts, etc. Why, heck, they’re going to call you when the President wants you to hear one of his pre-recorded messages. Oh, JOY!

Look: I don’t trust the federal government. More so than ever now that the executive branch and half of the Congress is under the control of Socialists.

We are in the early stages of the creation of a “police state” in America. “If you see something – say something.” Rat on your neighbors and your government will thank you. And now we arrive at a point in this downward spiral of freedom at which the federal government will be able to track us without the fabled chips under our skin. They may simply use our cell phones, which most Americans seem to have grafted to their ears.

You may think this is a case of paranoia, if you choose, but we warned this was going to happen, rather a long time ago, in our previous scribblings. Now it is here.

Just because you are paranoid – doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you! And when they are out to get you, paranoia is just darned good thinking!

I hope you have read the article to which we supplied the link above. If not you need to do so now. As you read … notice how you may opt out of the first two messages but you cannot opt out of a presidential message. See that? All American cell phone users must hear a pre-recorded message from “Dear Leader Obama.”

Allow me to ask: If we can opt out of the other two messages, why, in the dickens, is it so darned important to install this system in the first place? Oh, the answer is simple – so we can all be blessed by the sound of our Dear Leader’s supreme oratory telling us what a GREAT MAN he is and why everything he is doing is for the CHILDREN and for our own good. Jeez, I HATE THAT! I am fed up with the mealy-mouthed hypocrisy of the socialist-democrats. Their condescending “Bovine Scatology” has been made into an art form for use against the weak-minded followers of their political philosophy.

What we have here -- is NOT a failure to communicate, but a federal government propaganda machine. We are beginning to look more and more like World War Two Germany under the Nazis -- only hi-tech.

This just another freedom being taken away. Which freedom? The freedom to just be left alone! It is the reason my Confederate ancestors went to war against a repressive US government. They wanted only to be let alone to run their own affairs. So do I. So do millions of Americans. But the same US government that rained death and destruction down on the Confederacy has now reached heights of repression even the southern Americans of the 1860’s could not fathom.

Just a few weeks ago, when that swarm of tornadoes swept through my state, North Carolina, a few minutes after the storm had passed, our phone rang and it was the 911 center telling us to be alert we were under a tornado watch! See how efficient and effective that can be. It was, and is, totally useless!

So, I am done with cell phones.

Look, America. Our federal government has grown entirely too big, and too intrusive -- by far. And believe me when I say, they have only just begun to get into our business.

When that “accursed ObamaCare” kicks in, the federal government will be able to enter our homes, without a warrant, to insure our compliance to federal mandates. Did you know that? No part of our life: living, eating, sleeping, recreating, sexual intercourse, raising the resulting children, schooling those kids, what you eat, what you drive, where and how you drive, what you wear, which church you attend, and yes – how you VOTE!

We won’t need two political parties; we will have only one – the socialist/communist party … you know, like the old Socialist Soviet Union in what we know today as Russia.

May God help us, America, because we are just too dumb to help ourselves. History will record the suicide of the great United States of America right alongside the exact same story of that other great nation, Rome. America is following every twist and turn the Romans made on their way to ruin as though it were a road map. And it is a roadmap – to destruction.

Uh-oh. My phone is ringing. Could it be Obama? ALREADY? Gotta get the cussed battery out of that thing!

I am sure you remember when BHO was on his campaign trail that he said he wanted to transform America. He is succeeding only it isn’t just by himself. We have hundreds of traitors in Congress from both parties.

When LBJ was in office the head of one of the socialist parties, Norman Thomas, made the claim that the democrats had out socialized the socialists. He could have included the republicans also.

For all intents and purposes as well as definition we are a socialist country. Our constitution has held back the official announcement.

Keep up the good work.

If you want complete privacy, don’t own a cell phone. It’s essentially a method for people to get in touch with you even when you’re not near a landline. By definition, then, the cellphone voice and data networks have to get in touch with the phone.

From what I hear, this is going to be a text message. A text message. You’re getting paranoid about a text message.

And guess what? This is part of the result of legislation passed by a Republican Majority and a Republican President in 2006.

Ah, but your first impulse was to blame “dear leader!”

Right.

As for that Tornado? You single out the call as if that was your only point of contact with the Federal Government. Did you realize that the National Weather Service, the radar, and the Satellites that imaged that storm and gave warning were paid for and managed by the Federal Government, too? Thousands would be dead instead of hundreds without that help.

The adults in the room in our society recognize that there are some projects that while not necessarily profitable in a business sense for the people running them, profit society in general. The Federal Government has always worked to such ends. It’s only now with the logical absolutism that people like you practice that it’s somehow become this great evil.

On what basis do you say this? Can you cite law to demonstrate the truth of this?

Or are we just engaging in some kind of hidden slippery slope argument here?

You know, if you ask me, it’s this kind of paranoia that puts us in this place, because people who follow this kind of logic are going to make really bad decisions to address their anxieties.

I mean, what does it say that Republicans, by trying to extort further spending cuts out of the President, are actually courting the same default they’re fearmongering about? What does it say that some actually are willing to provoke that default regardless of what the Democrats do?

And really, there’s no integrity to doing things this way, as the Republicans already agreed on the budget for the rest of the year. All they’re doing now is threatening to pull the rest of the government away before they can pay for the check on the spending they just okayed.

Or, put another way, it’s like trying to skip out on the check at a restaurant. We’ve set the budget, so we’ve already ordered and eaten the meal. But Republicans are arguing about paying for it, trying to extract some sort of financial promise, even though the consequences of failing to pay for what we spent are terrible.

JD,

This was reported as an add-on app for those that actually wanted the information. The idea is that this could be an early warning system for specific areas of the country.

Apparently those on the right really are this gullible.

Once again we have an unsourced diatribe from JD Longstreet. JD, can you please supply links in the future to support your claims? Or is that too much to ask because your asertions are completely baseless?

SD, I believe many on the right have been willing to include RINO’s in the problems we face as a nation. Again, we go back to the non-partisan Tea Party; it originated because people of all political persuasions were fed up with both parties not listening to them. You, SD, are the only one who cannot find any fault in your own party.

There is a show that comes on TV/Cable every once in a while. The star of the show is an ex-secret service agent (I believe), and his show instructs people how to disappear off the grid. One of the first things he instructs to do is get rid of all wireless devices. According to him, a cell, iPod, or even laptop can reveal your exact position at any time. To say that the government would only send you text messages, if you had the app, is ridiculous. What has the federal government ever done to cause us to place out trust in their decisions?

Mr. Longstreet says:

“When that “accursed ObamaCare” kicks in, the federal government will be able to enter our homes, without a warrant, to insure our compliance to federal mandates. Did you know that? No part of our life: living, eating, sleeping, recreating, sexual intercourse, raising the resulting children, schooling those kids, what you eat, what you drive, where and how you drive, what you wear, which church you attend, and yes – how you VOTE!”

You are correct Mr. Longstreet; but we don’t have to wait for obamacare. Obama is trying to sign an executive order requiring companies to declare what political party they support, and as a result, they would be cut off the list of government contractors. This is a socialist end run around the SP decision that companies can support political campaigns.

The United States is where the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe was in the late 40’s. We just happen to be 70 years behind then. Of course, I believe it was Khrushchev who said they would conquer us without firing a shot.

WR, I believe I have seen you as well as other liberals say “we are not doing the research for you”.

Re/Longstreet’s comments; are your fingers broken? Can you google his comments? I’m sure it would not be hard to find the info. If he provided the links, of which I believe he can, would it make any difference? You and your socialist buddies would be researching and quoting other liberal blog sites to prove him wrong.

1776,
I honestly don’t have any idea what JDL is talking about. Unless he’s talking about reverse 911, but that’s been in place for a while without any issues.

I think I do a good job linking to evidence for my claims. Sometimes I say something without a source because I think it’s common knowledge, but if someone asks for a source I will provide that person with what they want.

Nonetheless, I believe the standards for an article should be greater than the standards for a comment. JD Longstreet has posted quite a few articles recently, but NONE of them contain any links to support his claims, which I think is just pure laziness.

I hate those things which is why I refuse to have one. I don’t even answer my land line 90% of the time.

There are advantages and disadvantages to the phone thing. On the news, one guy liked it because he left his iPhone in the car. The car was stolen. They were able to follow the car real time, and they caught the bad guys. It’s entirely up to the person to determine if the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Conservativethinker-

SD, I believe many on the right have been willing to include RINO’s in the problems we face as a nation.

What do you call a Republican who is socially liberal, who supports programs like Medicare, who isn’t against spending money to get us out of a recession, who doesn’t want to intrude on a woman’s right to choose?

An Independent.

Democrats are much more tolerant of those in their party who don’t completely toe the platform’s line. That’s why they’ll win. Their leaders are willing to trade a little control for a lot of influence. They’re willing to change things a little slower if it gets things changed over time.

The Republican used to be that way, before they got addicted to the crisis mentality.

More to that point, you know, I will strongly object to the Federal Government invading my privacy, or that of another citizen, to laws that allow that without sufficient review. This is not a matter of whether I trust the government or not, I don’t. I just don’t get bent out of shape over imagined terrors and horrors. The world offers its share of crap for us to deal with without us needing to borrow trouble by imagining more of it.

The conspiracy theories are a distraction from people facing the real issues at hand.

I think Republicans wanting to avoid Socialism would be well-advised to reform Wall Street and prevent further crashes, because those are what going to tempt people to take it up. When capitalism functions, people are too busy enjoying the benefits of that system to go running after the dreams of Marx.

1776-
I researched what he was talking about. Turns out it’sn a case of the Republicans self-inflicting the mess on themselves. Obama gets blamed because the program starts this year, an example of a Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc fallacy, if I ever saw one.

If you believe he can provide the links, urge him to do so. The difference it makes is that he can show support for his beliefs beyond his own logic and his personal understanding of the facts.

If you let your opponents do the research first, you lose the initiative in the debate.

I can answer that in two words, self regulation, or perhaps self-regulation.

“I researched what he was talking about. Turns out it’sn a case of the Republicans self-inflicting the mess on themselves.”

According to what I can google, the cell phone warning system has its genesis in the bi-partisan WARN Act which was passed by a Republican controlled congress (2005-2006). It was sponsored by John Shimkus a conservative Republican and co-sponsored by a Democratic congressman, Albert Wynn.

Really JD early stages eh! seems your boy GWB signed an EO before Congress could pass a law to get this systems in the works. Seems it is the conservatives, not the socialist, you need to worry about JD.

Really JD when I first read your comments I thought the appropriate answer for such off the wall nonsense was to suggest a tin foil helmet. But after much research it seems a tin foil hat may not work in this case. It seems the tin foil helmets as currently designed may actually increase the cell phone signals. With that in mind I offer you this paranoid thought.

“It requires no stretch of the imagination to conclude that the current helmet craze is likely to have been propagated by the Government, possibly with the involvement of the FCC. We hope this report will encourage the paranoid community to develop improved helmet designs to avoid falling prey to these shortcomings. “

JD want some real scary police state paranoia on the state level? Makes you wonder about states rights a bit. Makes you wonder about the repubs, yeah those freedom loving small government fascist who do all these police state things and then falsely accuse others of doing it.

“Michigan has had an emergency manager statute on its books for 20 years, but Public Act 4, signed by Republican Gov. Rick Snyder in March, endows these officials with expanded powers over the localities where they’re dispatched. Emergency managers now can suspend collective bargaining rights for unions. They can terminate worker contracts. They can strip the mayor and the city council of all their power.

These officials were once called “emergency financial managers.” Now they’re called just “emergency managers.”“
