American Foreign Policy
American Foreign Policy an Evaluation
By Vassilios Damiras, Ph. D. (ABD)
The United States of America throughout the years has been facing a clash of civilizations in dealing with global conflicts. During that time the various American governments executed three major foreign policy strategies. The first was a neo-isolationism (we should not get entangled in conflicts outside our vital national interests, narrowly defined). Second, pragmatic or selective engagement (we are the dominant country but should limit our reach). And third, cooperative security (we are not and should not act as an imperial country). In the new era of the clash of civilizations between Western ideas and Islamic extremism or fundamentalism, the Bush administration has executed a policy of primacy (we are an empire and should/could conduct an expansive and extensive foreign and defense policies). President Bush has embarked in a very difficult task of saving global civilization from the Islamofascists. The American people need to be patient in this tough struggle. Eventually, will be victorious.

Do you have examples of where this policy of imperialism, you seem to favor, has been successfully implemented for the long term?
