Global orgasm for peace?

I might actually participate in a global anti-war demonstration! Well, perhaps I would have anyway, eh?

The Global Orgasm for Peace was conceived by Donna Sheehan, 76, and Paul Reffell, 55, whose immodest goal is for everyone in the world to have an orgasm Dec. 22 while focusing on world peace.

"Your mind is like a blank..."

Focusing on world peace is fine. Even I, as a committed and enthusiastic hegemonic war-monger, want nothing more than world peace. It's just that my version of world peace includes the survival of the American way of life rather than its destruction.

The absurdity of liberalism seems to have no bounds but at least this idea has some merit on its own besides being a poorly thought through anti-war marketing vehicle. (It may actually be a drug induced haze that's responsible, but hey, nobody's perfect right?)

What I find incredible are statements like these describing what looks to me to be the source of all liberal ideology:

"The orgasm gives out an incredible feeling of peace during it and after it," Reffell said Sunday. "Your mind is like a blank. It's like a meditative state. And mass meditations have been shown to make a change."  ~wcbstv.com
Is this why so many liberal policies and 'demonstration' ideas seem to lack all sense or logic?

Misogynist, sexist, patriarchal global orgasm

If this anti-war demonstration is successful, can we prosecute these two liberal activists for encouraging global rape by bloodthirsty soldiers who follow instructions to lay down their guns for, "a few minutes"?

After all, isn't all sex rape according to the party faithful?
"The dream is to have everyone in the world (take part)," Reffell said. "And if that means laying down your gun for a few minutes, then hey, all the better."  ~wcbstv.com
Send in more troops or pull out?

And finally, I can't help wondering if these two stories are somehow related...
The Pentagon's closely guarded review of how to improve the situation in Iraq has outlined three basic options: Send in more troops, shrink the force but stay longer, or pull out, according to senior defense officials.  ~washingtonpost.com
Just wondering.

Eric,

Does your virsion of ‘the American way of life’ include Warrentless wire tapping, turturing folks for information, holding folks without the recourse of habeas corpus, etc., etc?

How can terrorism destroy ‘the American way of life’ faster than the internal destruction of our Constitution?

I don’t think I could come up with a better argument to discredit this entry than the article itself. It’s so self-evidently absurd than any commentary of mine beyond this will just beat people over the head with the obvious.

The neocon rats are jumping from the sinking ship so they can live to hopefully spoil the grain with their feces on another day.

The Congressional Republicans are blaming their president for their losses even though they proved to the People that they were spinless jellyfish with out a backbone. They apparently were helpless and could do nothing but rubber stamp their presidents policies. Oh, I forgot, he is not their president anymore.

And Eric, poor Eric Simonson has been left to bail water for his presidents sinking ship of state. Is it any wonder he is so bitter.

Folks? Folks? Folks?

Terrorist’s who kill easier than Charlie Manson are folks?

Men who have absolutely no respect for women are folks?

Mary, these FOLKS, would chop off your head if given the opportunity. No matter how liberal you are.

Keep it up mary. That view is not even being close to held by your new dems in congress.

If the only way you can win your argument is to call terrorist folks, then keep on calling them folks.

Unless this was intended to be some sort of twisted satire I would reccomend you find some more credible reading material. This is so incredibly stupid that it is not even funny. The fact that you may be gullible enough to believe that this somehow represents liberal ideologies in general does not speak well of any common sense you may have. Or should I say a lack of.

Huh?!?

Have you seen the movie “Spies Like Us” with Chevy Chase and Dan Ackroyd? I love the part just after they failed to destroy the soviet missile that they, themselves launched at the US mainland in an attempt to show our enemies our star wars missile defense capabilities. At this point, World War 3 seems innevitable. The commanding general seems strangely at ease with this scenario, and refuses to allow notification of the president. The following dialogue ensues:

Keyes: By your actions, sir, you are risking the future of the human race!
General Sline: To guarantee the American way of life? I’m willing to take that risk.

Today, Eric, I have beared witness to you providing the best and most sincere impression of General Sline. The only sad part is that you’re serious.

Let the record show that this liberal is pro-orgasm, and no, I’m NOT talking about the pleasures rightwing wackos get from torturing prisoners or violating the Constitution. It would be simple to use the tactics of this “writer” against himself — all I’d have to do is find some silly extremist view of the right and paint a whole party that way. The difference is, silly extremist views controlled the Republican party, though now all the former loyalists are running from the suddenly contrite and conciliatory Bush as fast as possible.

For the sake of the Republican party and the country, I hope the thoughtless now consider the consequences of nominating lightweights for the highest office in the land. If you guys had any honor, you’d be apologizing, but I don’t expect that.

liberalism American Heritage Dictionary
2.
a. A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the indivual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed.and protection from arbitrary authority.

The use of the term “liberal” as a perjoritive is not only innaccurate it also adds nothing to the debate we should be having concerning the serious issues faceing OUR country. I ,like most people that care enough to spend our time on political blogs, can sling clever insults as well as the next, (actually probably better than you),but time for that has passed. At the risk of sounding the scold, this is a time for serious debate by serious people.I believe that was the message delivered Nov.7 to both parties.

BillS,

Your definition of liberalism neglected some of the other key tents of liberalism, such as the abrogation of all personal responsibility to the nanny-state, the free violation of rights that they don’t agree with, such as the right to keep and bear arms, the worldview that Christianity and white culture is wrong and at fault for all of the ills of the world, the idea that capitalism is a bad economic system, especially compared to the workers’ paradise that is socialism, and the idea that every value that made America great is evil and counterproductive.

Um, in your description of liberalism, I found almost nothing that describes my own views, which means either I’m not a liberal or your definition is off kilter. I vote for the latter :)

I’m sitting here typing instead of playing online poker — and making money; online poker used to be a significant source of income for me — because Frist and his Republican friends decided I shouldn’t have the right to risk my money as I see fit.

Let me know when you find that guy. Did you hear about the more recent incident where a guy stuck a firecracker in his ass and lit it? Needless to say his embarrassment and resulting misery makes for a hearty laugh for me. There is no valuable lesson to be learned from these jackasses other than to not be a complete idiot. I say let Darwinism take its natural course.

And what jackass decided that we needed “safe and sane” fireworks? When I was a kid, we had real fireworks…these days, if you want a good show, you have to drive to Mexico or the nearest Indian reservation.

Trent-

Online gambling? Oh my God! What about the children? Someone think of the poor children!

It’s funny. I love WW2 movies. In nearly every one of these movies, whenever they show average grunts or sailors having “down time” they are almost always engaging in some form of gambling. The implication is, of course, that our average fighting Joe is but a simple, joy-seeking man who just wants to live a simple life of social glee made possible by living under American freedom. Enemy soldiers, on the other hand, are seen as cold, calculating and stonefaced figures with cigarets perminently hanging from their bottom lip while they ponder their next move.

What I take from this is that whenever you start asking for government regulation of behavior, the end result is always to diminish the very spirit which makes us distinctly American. Frist and the rest of the republican “fun police” need to realize that if they turn the entire country into cranky and sheltered old codgers, who is going to fight to the death to protect that? They seem to fight much harder for actual freedom. And isn’t it funny to see just how quickly freedom and youth turn into gambling, drinking and sex?

I’ll end with a joke:

What is the definition of “illegal”?

Anything that a 70 year old republican can’t do anymore.
