A man's gotta know his limitations

I have to say goodbye to you all. I anticipate having to do a lot more work at my “day job”, which can require my full attention, and won’t have time to write on this blog. It has become a bit of an addiction for me. I have never been able to cut down on anything. I either give up all the way or not. So I have to give up. I have enjoyed talking with all the regulars, even the radical Democrats. I learned a lot from you. I hope to come back from time to time when I have some vacation or slow periods at work.

So long, farewell,
Z powazaniem

Jack

So sorry to see you go Jack. You brought more credibility to the red column than I ever thought possible. ;-) I jest, but seriously I’ve always appreciated your intelligent and thought provoking commentary in the comments, even before you came on board as an editor. Even though I often disagreed with your stands, I appreciated that you argued with the best interests of our great nation at heart. You personify the WatchBlog tag line “Critique the Message, Not the Messenger” and understand the need for genuine dialog.

You will be missed - come back when you can.

Some of my most challenging and educational debates on WatchBlog have been with you Jack. I do, very much, hope you will return when time permits. You are a very intelligent person, well educated, with a compass that steers your convictions toward what you believe will produce the greatest good for our nation. Those qualities are somewhat hard to find all in one individual these days. Be happy!

Crap! I wish I was as eloquent as Walker and David. You deserve it. All I can say is, Ditto, and I’m really going to miss the back-n-forth. There aren’t many on this side willing to go the distance rationally debating a conservative viewpoint.

I’ll also miss the treatises on Xenophon and Scipio Africanus the Lesser when you try to change the subject away from a strong Democratic argument. :)

Good luck with work, come back when you can!

You have been a very good opponent, and most importantly one willing to be as open-minded as partisans such as ourselves can be. We both believe strongly in our parties, but at the same time see that the party’s perspective is not absolute in truth.

I’m not sure whether you will be leaving as a contributing editor, or both and editor and a commentor. Regardless, It was a pleasure to read and respond to you.

Vale, amici. (I hope that’s a good translation.)

Jack,

I hate to see you leave, your views and ability to express them in print in a respectfull way will be greatly missed.

I hope your company knows how lucky they are to have you as an employee and will give you the freedom to grow in your work.

Best of luck to you my friend in furthering your career.

Marse Robert:
“I don’t know Jack.”

I don’t think I really did either, though I’ve argued with him plenty of times.
I was under the impression after his many references to his stock portfolio that Jack might have been among those who received the lucrative benefits of Bush’s tax cuts to the wealthy, and therefore, didn’t actually need to work hard like the rest of us.
Truthfully, I’m rather disappointed, because when I thought that was true, it almost made sense for him to defend the actions of this administration - and now it doesn’t.
Ah well…
Soraidh agus Beannachd leat, Jack.
(That’s Farewell and Goodbye to you in the Scots Gaelic)

“Z powazaniem” is Russian for something, right? Any brilliant linguists out there know what it means?

It’s Polish. It means, ‘sincerely’, or ‘best regards’ or something like that. Usually used to close a letter.

Thanks, AP. I’d never seen that closing salutation before.
