On Transgender Issue, We're Making Fools of Ourselves

Recently, 51 families whose children attended a school district in Palatine, Illinois had to sue the Department of Justice and the Obama Administration because they objected to their daughters having to change in the same locker room as a biological male. The school district offered to allow the male student to use a partitioned area of the locker room, but the Obama administration said that wasn’t good enough, and that Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination, mandates that a male with all the plumbing to prove it, must be allowed into a women’s bathroom upon request. You have got to be kidding me.

I've been a big fan of the Obama administration since it began. I proudly supported him in 2008 and 2012, fought back against the lies, smears, and racially-motivated hate the Republicans have thrown at him since day one. But this is just too far.

When the Supreme Court decided Obergefell V. Hodges on June 26, 2015, the Court had settled once and for all the last major civil rights movement. But what followed was a slew of smaller, internet-grown groups who are trying to convince the public that anyone and everyone should be able to make up their own protected class that everyone else has to accept, no matter how ridiculous it is.

The public at large came to accept gay marriage because they had an epiphany that it has absolutely zero effect on their lives. That's the main argument I made in favor of gay marriage being gay myself: I don't exist in a vacuum, and the love I'll share with my future husband has no impact on a total stranger's life or the validity of his or her marriage.

However you can't say the same for transgenderism. They advocate for a policy that puts women and children everywhere at risk for sexual violence. It's not transgender people themselves that are a danger to children, however it's those that game the system to gain access to women and girls' locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms for their own perverse desires.

One such example is a man in Seattle, who walked into a women's locker room at a city pool right before young girls came to change for swimming lessons. The staff called the police, and he handed the officers a copy of Washington's state statute, which dictates that a man pretending to be a woman, or a woman pretending to be a man has the absolute right to use the incorrect facilities. The officers came back to the pool staff and said, "He's right!" (Citation)

As I stated earlier, the transgender movement is nothing more than the newest fad propelled by the internet. The internet gives socially-challenged people a place where they can connect with one another and share their bizarre fetishes, hence where the "Furry Fandom" thing comes from.

The fact is that in today's day and age, anybody is allowed to make up their own minority status and the Obama administration is happy to distort federal law to bully those of us who laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of some of these "oppressed minorities." Case in point, 52-year-old Paul Wolscht from Toronto, Ontario, who left his wife and seven children to change his name to "Stefonknee" and live with an elderly couple because he "identifies" as a six-year-old girl. He now spends his days living with his "adoptive parents," playing with Barbie dolls, and coloring. Citation If this had happened in the United States, I would bet you my house that the Obama administration would declare that Title IX requires that his local school district enroll this 52-year-old man in first grade because he "identifies" as a 6-year-old girl.

This is a disturbing trend that we are now allowing people to dictate who and what they are based on their feelings and not what they actually are. Bruce Jenner can have whatever surgery he wants and pump as much estrogen into his body as his doctors will allow, but nothing will ever change the fact that he has XY chromosomes, which is the most basic biological definition of male.

The next group that will come out and start "demanding their rights" is adult babies, and I can already tell you the arguments they're going to make. "You're a bigot! You must hate elderly people with incontinence issues, because they wear adult diapers too!" Along with adult babies, it'll be the trans-species and trans-racial movement, both of which have already received media attention. We all heard about Rachel Dolezel, the NAACP chapter president who is 100% Caucasian but "self-identifies" as Black, but then there's the trans-species movement. This man in Pittsburgh wears a collar, eats Alpo out of a bowl, plays with chew toys, sleeps in a doghouse in his backyard and walks around town in a home-made dog suit made of shredded paper. Their argument will be that you're a bigot because you must hate sports mascots!

But above all, the medical community needs to get out of this mindset that it's all about what you feel. Transgender is simply a form of Body Integrity Identity Disorder, or BIID. This is a disorder where people feel intense and irrational hatred for parts of their bodies. Some have gone so far as to lay down in front of a train to have their legs severed, and a woman named Jewel Shuping who made headlines because she thought she was supposed to be born blind, so she poured drain cleaner in her eyes to make it so.

If I am only what I feel and not what I physically am, then I'd like to claim that I feel like I'm 70 years old and go apply for Social Security checks. If we're only what we feel, then every 16 year old is going to go to the liquor store and say "I feel 21, so sell me booze."

But finally, let's examine the argument made by the Obama administration about Title IX. Title IX states, No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Transgender advocates have been screaming for years that sex and gender are two different things, that sex is what's between your legs and gender is what's in your head, despite the sheer ridiculousness of that statement. Now they want to argue it the other way around.

The fact is that Title IX has absolutely nothing to do with transgender issues, and it most certainly does not require that a male be allowed to expose himself in front of his fellow students in the opposite sex locker room. We're making fools of ourselves as Democrats on this issue, and it must stop. I'm a Democrat through and through, but this is one issue I'll never change on, and it's really tempting to change to an independent over this farce.

Thank you for a well written and reasoned piece Trey. I agree completely with your quote above and wrote basically the same thing a few months ago.

Can we now expect our lawmakers and law enforcers to write and enforce legislation regarding feelings? I wonder how that would work. Today I feel female despite feeling like a male yesterday; and wish to act out publicly according to how I am feeling at the moment.

I don’t care what people think about themselves. All I am concerned with is whether or not they receive equal protection under the 14th amendment.

TL, you seem to have some kind of real gripe about this transgender business, not unlike a lot of people. Considering that you introduced yourself to this blog as a well educated gay person, I find this abhorrence to transgenders as somewhat hypocritical. Your penchant to dwell on making fun or making slight of the issues of individuals that have a problem dealing with this is to say the least unfortunate.

Twenty years ago I worked for a company that had among other employees, transgender individuals. First time I walked into the men’s room and saw someone in a dress and heels I did a double take and checked the door to make sure I was in the right place and then continued on with my business and it did not affect my sensitivities. Of course the following day I walked in and there was a middle eastern man doing his daily foot washing at the sink, this also did not bother me. What a diverse company that was.

I am uncertain how best to approach this issue of transgender use of restrooms and showers and understand the difficulty of explaining the rationale to very young people. I would not like to do that. I hope every accommodation that can be made to allay their concerns is carried out.

I do have a friend who has worked in a management capacity at a Target store. She said she is very tired of having to explain that their restroom policy use for transgender people has been the same for the 10+ years she has worked there and always offers to allow the customer to come in and explain the policy thoroughly and in person however not one of them has ever taken her up on that offer.

It seems to me that the people making the biggest fuss about this are not affected by it one bit other than their sensitivities but with no personal inter-action to base it on.

S4A,

Well said. Until we get actual reports of people having their rights violated, there is no justification for discrimination against transgender people.

I happen to be acquainted with two transgender people myself and I can confirm that they are perfectly ordinary people. One of them passes so well that it wasn’t until months after I first met him that I learned that he was assigned female at birth.

Just curious Warren…what does it mean to be “assigned” at birth?

Just a guess, but I’m pretty sure the doctor who delivered my friend decided that his genitals’ appearance meant he was a girl.

Warped, The point is we are not assigned genders at birth. Were you assigned male genitals when you were born or did you spend nine months inside your mother developing as a male?

KAP,

Everyday, intersexed newborns have their genitals shoehorned into one category or another. Sometimes for the most arbitrary of reasons.

RF,
It’s not my place to judge. All I can do is accept.

Warped, 1-1500 to 1-2000. But on the whole Doctors do not assign gender.

Correct. Doctors assign $ex, not gender. Posted by: Warren Porter at June 29, 2016 8:57 PM

Warped, Doctors assign nothing at birth. $ex of the infant was determined long before a doctor got involved.

Posted by: Rich KAPitan at June 29, 2016 9:03 PM
Comment #405708

There is no objective way to determine $ex. It is up to doctors to make subjective determinations when they deliver a baby.

Warped, You are arguing just for the sack of arguing. With the equipment they have for imaging now they can tell the $ex months before the infant is born, along with any type of deformity.

Yes, with a sonogram, a doctor can make a subjective determination even when the fetus is in the womb. Still, this doesn’t shed any light as to whether it is legal to discriminate against someone on the basis of their $ex.

Warped, Depends on what you consider discrimination. Men using women’s Restrooms and vice versa and shower rooms, I would say may cause some major problems. If you want Transgender Restrooms those can be built.

WT actual F ! You’re born with a penis, and the doctor says ” it’s a boy” and he/she is ASSIGNING your $ex. This whole thing just gets more bizarre by the day. The twisted, and tortured logic it takes to come up with these conclusions is just mind boggling.

As I said before. There’s no objective rule for distinguishing a penis from a clitotis. Sure, on average the former is bigger than the latter and contains the urethra, but on the other hand exceptions abound.

Warped, With 1-1500 to 1-2000 births that is a fraction of a percent of the total births per day and per year so exceptions do not abound. That is total births in this country. As I stated previously with the ultrasound equipment the medical profession has today I’m sure those inter$exed infants can be discovered before birth.

It continues to amaze and amuse me how Libbies and some Dems can change their belief system as easily as their underwear.

Warren provided a good example when he wrote; “It’s not my place to judge. All I can do is accept.” when asked to clarify his statement regarding gender “assignment” at birth.

Does it require “judgement” for a trained physician to determine the gender of a newborn? Apparently it is such a difficult determination that all Warren can do is accept the decision without question.

Should one question their “judgement” on MMGW, these same Libbies will call the questioner a denier and worse. They know absolutely that Global Warming is caused by Man’s activities and yet can’t fathom how to determine the gender of a newborn.

Speaks wrote; “It seems to me that the people making the biggest fuss about this are not affected by it one bit other than their sensitivities but with no personal inter-action to base it on.”

Really Speaks. Why not apply the same standard to gun ownership? You constantly rail against those of us who prefer to own a gun knowing full well that our gun ownership doesn’t affect you in the slightest degree.

Posted by: Royal Flush at June 30, 2016 4:39 PM
Comment #405738

Although I believe that the 2nd Amendment will be repealed and replaced, I have no particular preference whether you own a gun or not. My indifference to that confuses those that would seek to maintain that I am somehow against their gun ownership. The replacement to the 2nd Amendment would, I hope, help to guide this country to less gun violence. You display no indifference regarding transgender facilities usage however and are adamant in your disapproval. Not a valid comparison.

One can correctly state that Liberalism as practiced today in the United States revolves around greater government control over our economy, more government deficit spending and diminishing of individual rights and enhancement of group rights.

How is that working out when it comes to what Liberalism considers its greatest achievement under the Obama administration; OBAMACARE.

Minnesota Shows Everything That’s Wrong With ObamaCare

“Minnesota is far from the only state to see insurers leave or premiums spike. UnitedHealth (UNH)has said it will exit almost all of the 34 state exchanges where it is doing business this year. Humana (HUM) also has dropped out of multiple exchanges. Yet a close look at the Gopher State’s plight provides an especially useful window on the failings at the heart of ObamaCare because the state recognized many of those problems at the outset.”

In other news on this topic, the Department of Defense has announced the end to the military’s ban on transgenders serving. So now this guy: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/dam/assets/160630181213-sage-fox-exlarge-tease.jpg

gets to be treated as a woman. I honestly wish I’d been born a couple generations earlier so I could be on my way out of this world we live in, instead of just coming in. Stop the planet, I want off.

In the real world, there are a large number of people who don’t fit into gender categories as neatly as many would like. I guess they’d better carry guns so they can have some rights.
