Scores Perish in Brussels

Both an airport and a train station in Brussels were attacked this morning. Evidence indicates that DAESH is likely to be responsible although it will be impossible to say for sure for the time being.

In other news, Obama visits Cuba and another opinion of Hillary Clinton's email saga is written.

Please consider this an open thread of sorts to discuss any of these three topics.

The events in Belgium this morning are very concerning however I would hope it does not allow DAESH to claim victory by driving the EU and the USA into an isolationist mentality. We need to stand together against this movement in order to eventually defeat it and we will.

Looking forward to President Obama’s speech to the Cuban people today. More can be done to improve our relations with Cuba and all of Latin America and I believe our President will do his best in that regard. Great news that AIPAC came out against Trump’s speech last night. A good sign.

As I have stated all along the Clinton email problem will lead to a much needed review of protocol and practices when it comes to classified documents in the digital age. Powell and Rice’s actions have also added to this discussion.

If only Obama would’ve send more police into the Muslim neighborhoods in Brussels this attack could have been prevented. But no he was in Cuba instead, This is all his fault, well according to Lying Ted anyway.

Belgium is clearly a weak spot the daeshits have found that they can continue to use. The open borders policy spreads this weakness to the rest of Europe.

Obama’s trip to Cuba will go down in history as one of the highlights of his presidency. That, and killing binladen. Most people are in favor of it, so the rpblcns have to be against it, and be negative all the time.

Clinton’s email problem is her own fault, but the unending “investigation” is just stupid. Almost everything the State Department does is a secret, until it’s not anymore.

Yeah, thanks Obama.

Lying Ted keeps stepping in it. First he called for Muslim neighborhoods in the US to be “patrolled and secured.” Gosh. There can’t possibly be anything wrong with that!

But that kind of wow! moment is really not that surprising. Recently Lying Ted hired one of the premiere Muslim conspiracy theorists out there to his foreign policy team, a first class nut job named Frank Gaffney. For those of you unfamiliar with him, Gaffney is famous for such great conspiracies as the one about Hillary Clinton’s State Department being infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood, and who called Obama the “first Muslim President.”

And it just keeps getting better for Lying Ted. This morning I saw one of the bigger chunks in the cesspool float to the top for a surprise appearance- none other than Neil Bush! And what should the black sheep of the Bush family, a guy who participated in defrauding taxpayers of $1.3 billion in the Silverado S&L scam and settled, what should he be doing in the media? Why, he is endorsing Lying Ted!

How much worse is this going to get?

And now, in revenge for one of Lying Ted’s Super PACs publicizing pics of Melania, Trump has threatened to “spill the beans” about Heidi Cruz. Now that’s interesting. She works for Goldman Sachs, the same firm which gave Cruz a BIG loan. Cruz keeps pushing for deregulation of Wall Street, and there is no firm in the world that would benefit more from such deregulation of Goldman Sachs, the “vampire squid attached to the face of humanity.”

Meanwhile, Obama said ISIS would be his biggest priority. I hope he does not mean that. Syria is a mess and terrorism is terrible, but that hardly makes them qualify as a priority.

Yeah, yeah, I know, ‘if it bleeds, it leads,’ and the media loves stoking fear, and so do conservatives. That is exactly how we end up with such embarrassing disasters as Trump and Cruz.

IKR, like if we exterminated them, something even worse wouldn’t pop up there or somewhere else. They’re actually making the Iranians look moderate. Unless Obama is talking about going after the weapons’ suppliers, it’s nuclear whackamole.

Eventually we’ll have to get over it and come to terms. This whole thing was baked into the cake from the moment we invaded and overthrew Saddam. Shia Iraq will stay under the sway of Iran. The Kurds will be independent. A Sunni state will emerge. We can bomb ISIS leadership ‘til the cows come home, but it will never actually solve the problem; in fact, it just makes everyone even more pissed off. At some point we’ll need to come to terms with a fundamentalist Sunni group running western Iraq and maybe eastern Syria.

That’s important, but that is not our highest priority. A couple guys in Brussels exploding suitcases with nails in them is not a sound basis for foreign policy.

Maybe President Obama has his finger in the air on this one and knows that if he didn’t say, it was his “biggest priority”, the right wing heads would explode and the cleanup effort would take a superfund bigger than the BP oil spill?

I expect his priorities in the Middle East to remain about the same, as much non-intervention as possible. History will judge his ME policy and positions in due time. I am certain that someone will find fault with him at any point prior to then and maybe even after that. I myself have not been disappointed.

I am just glad that he has continued on with his Latin America trip, even though some conservatives have demanded that he return to Washington DC because of what happened in Brussels.

Speak,
“I am just glad that he has continued on with his Latin America trip, even though some conservatives have demanded that he return to Washington DC because of what happened in Brussels.”

Agreed. Both Trump and Cruz demanded Obama return to the US because of the bombing in Brussels. Why? I really don’t get that. I know the conservative play book requires them to oppose Obama in all things, at all times, but that is just ridiculous. Guess it interferes with their non-stop efforts to stoke fear among Americans every time something happens somewhere in the world, especially if it involves European white people. They are curiously silent when blacks die in Nigeria and Cameroon at the hands of Boko Haram. Not enough video for the media, I suppose.

Conservative Republicans can compete with each other for crazy statements, but this one might be the all-time winner. Ladies and Gentlemen: Michele Bachmann!

“Maybe our president’s humiliation comes in a manner so devastating it makes one wonder whether the Creator of humankind isn’t reminding this world of the inferiority of foolishness in the face of wisdom.
“The president once again mocked his nemesis, the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, by cleverly turning the international press corps toward his brilliant work in Cuba, instead of covering ongoing Islamic attacks against the Jewish state as outlined that very same day at the annual pro-Israel AIPAC meeting in Washington, D.C.”

Pause for a moment and consider just how truly twisted, crazy, warped, out-of-this-world and nutty this statement is by any standard or any religion you choose.

The President is in Argentina now. I don’t know why anyone thought he should change his itinerary because of Brussels. What do they expect him to do, go there and capture the bad guys himself? Maybe they think it’s a cowboy movie. Silence from the right wing conspiracy here. Maybe they’re all in Oberammergau. Bachman is a good example of the bipolar behavior that characterizes so much of the right wing. Disconnected paranoid nonsense substituting for logical thought. You could give them better arguments to use to make their own points, but all they know is what they’ve been trained to believe.

In other news, it seems times are pretty rough for DAESH. Left and right, they are losing territory to Assad, Iraq and US supported rebels. These attacks in Europe are an act of desperation from an increasingly weak entity.

WP,
That does not make a good story for Republicans and conservatives. They need people to be afraid. People will not vote for them if they perceive things are going well; therefore, we see a constant drumbeat demanding we be fearful. And when facts and economic statistics contradict this drumbeat of negativity, they simply deny it, and insist it is all a conspiracy. They become angry. They accuse Obama, Hillary, and liberals of subjective failings, because there is so little to objectively dislike.

That is how we end of with candidates like Trump and Cruz.

Today, the Pentagon announced the successful assassination of Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, the Finance minister of DAESH. Isn’t it despicable that this would be considered bad news for the GOP?

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is battling an entanglement of rumors that allege the Texas senator is “hiding five different mistresses.”

Damn…Ted told me he has ten mistresses, five wives, and twenty-three bastard children. Lying again Ted?
