Republicans Fighting for Financial Bums

There are 2 major parties in the U.S.: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The Democrats, under the leadership of President Obama, are doing their utmost to solve the Depression the financial bums in Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and other financial powerhouses have plunged us into. At every turn, the Republicans are stymying the Democratic efforts. They are fighting FOR the financial bums and against the American people.

Read this article published in the conservative Wall Street Journal:

Last week, House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio made a pitch to Democratic contributor James Dimon, the chairman and chief executive of J.P. Morgan, over drinks at a Capitol Hill restaurant, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr. Boehner told Mr. Dimon congressional Republicans had stood up to Mr. Obama's efforts to curb pay and impose new regulations. The Republican leader also said he was disappointed many on Wall Street continue to donate their money to Democrats, according to the people familiar with the matter.

Boehner is telling Dimon that Republicans are friends of Wall Street and Democrats are not. Why are you giving money to Democrats who want to restrict your activities? Give it to Republicans because we work hard for you.

This incident makes it extremely obvious on which side Republicans are. They favor financial bums that caused our economic misery over the rest of us who are suffering from this economic misery. Republicans are disappointed they are not getting paid for their services to the financial community. They believe, however, if they keep it up, they will eventually be rewarded by the financial bums.

If Republicans manage to prevent the Democrats from producing legislation regulating the financial industry, they no doubt will get more money from the financial bums. But who will suffer as a result? You and I. America will remain with a high percentage of us jobless for far longer than necessary.

Whose side are YOU on? Are you with the financial bums and Republicans who fight for them or with the jobless Americans and Democrats who are trying to help all of us?

Democrats pull in the big money contributions from Wall Street bankers and trial lawyers.

As far as I am concerned, IF the firm takes government money, government can dictate to it. IF they don’t, it is none of government’s business.

If Democrats want to limit bonuses at Goldman Sacks, they will be affecting mostly their own supporters. Go to it.

Gergle

This is something I just don’t understand. I don’t have a problem with people making big money and equality of outcomes just is not a concern of mine, but I cannot understand why somebody gets a big bonus when his firm loses money or when the money comes from the government.

I do notice, however, that lots of the fat cats are Democrats these days. They talk the talk all the way to the bank.

Christine
The wealthy MUST control the government. Its a class imperitive and has been true since the dawn of civilization. This does not change the fact that the Dems are attempting to re-regulated a financial system that has become a danger to itself and the country and the Reps are fighting it.
You seem annoyed that there are rich people that also support Dem policy. Class traitors?Or do you really expect the Dems to go to a gun fight with a knife?

The American people don’t mind in principle, any American person or group contributing to the election of a candidate. What they mind is a reciprocity via legislation by those recipients which is contrary to the interests of the people or nation. At the people’s level, that is called bribery and blackmail, and the people have to fear being imprisoned for such behaviors. They only ask that their representatives be held to the same standard.

Far more Democrats than Republicans refuse to carry the water of their corporate contributors. As I type, Wall St. is contributing to Democrats knowing that Democrats are crafting legislation that Wall St. will not like as limitations on their compensation and risk options with other people’s money.

Republicans however, are actively seeking those same contributions while assuring those contributors that will block any such legislation that limits Wall St. in any way from bringing on the next bubble collapse of the economy.

No matter how one parses it, the Democrats are siding with the people over the corporations, while Republicans are turning their backs on protecting people’s jobs going forward in search of corporate contributions to make up for the dramatic losses in contributions from the people.

On this issue of Wall St. oversight and regulation, the Democrats are the people’s champion, and the Republicans are the Corporation’s champion.

David,

It’s much easier to keep anything from happening in Congress than get something to change.

Christine,

Got any numbers? A lot is kinda vague and sounds mostly like BS.

Paul,

The Duopoly parties have become the minority race and capitalist parties of late. Not a good thing either way.

This article in the Guardian makes a good point about reporting on science, and peer revue of programs. Something Republicans may like, and something Goldman Sachs may not like are in the article.

gergle, true enough, but, not improbable. Change is what both Parties heard the American voters clamor for in 2008. The party that works for it will be rewarded, and the party that fights it, will not win many converts.

Obama understands this and has made it his calling card at the townhall meetings these days. Smart. Very smart.

Paul,

You are a captive of the propaganda of socialist ideology.

Look at the nations who implement the controls you favor and you do not see the proletarian utopia you hope to bring about. You see more stratification of wealth, only the wealthy are those in government. They control and use the government to further their power and wealth.

Go Mitt Romney- We really must have new leadership and ideas that make sense and are reponsible!

To give this President a grade - GIVE HIM AN XXX
Sort of like a cartoon character that got drunk from being so excited about being elected - after all he hasn’t ever led anything before - unless you count him now leading his party & this country over the cliff. OBAMA isn’t deaf - he’s unconscious!
It doesn’t matter anyway - he’s not the disease - he’s just the symptom - get plenty of rest (about three years left) call the doctor and have him give you plenty of painkillers & watch in fascinated horror as our new President, his cabinet, & Congress of left wing liberals lead you around in circles, propose new dialogues trying to figure out how to spin the message around from what WE want & need into what THEY think is good for their power base, campaign finances, & government retirement plans. Just relax in opiated bliss while these quasi corporate employees vote themselves raises & bonuses for tackling these important “issues” and “challenges” that WE face. WE - of course means YOU and YOUR children & grandchildren - NOT THEIRS. They’ll all be living offshore in Carribean paradises while you struggle to educate your children, visit the doctor, battle diseases caused by food additives, pay massive taxes, & live on dog food all throughout your “golden years.” Wonderfully sated & secure in the knowledge that your corporate pension plan went down the toilet with that corporate merger. The early retirement package they gave you went broke when the company you worked for couldn’t keep up with the new 85% tax plan that covers indigent farmers from Malaysia who needed price supports, or pharmeceutical companies that fed you toxic waste to cure your liver abscess caused by eating to many quarterpounders. I mean Hey - no research existed yet, right. What’d ya gonna do? It took a few decades to find any test tubes at Hamburger U. Yes, folks NO WORRIES - DON”T FRET - WITH OBAMANOMICS & OUR WONDERFUL CONGRESS you’ll be able to party like it’s 2099 because the governement as part of it’s new GOVERNMENT REFORM program is going to send each and every one of you a bright, shiny, new baseball bat so you can fight off the gangbangers, or your neighborhood dealer to get that fix you’re gonna need. You won’t even notice that rusty shipping container you live in with all the leaks in the roof, you’ll just sit there happily burning your old furniture or any available trees left in the neighborhood for heat while fighting off the wandering dog packs for scraps at the local dump. So KICK BACK & RELAX your future is secured, in fact certain, as you merrily glide down that slippery slope as you happily READ AL FRANKEN’S NEW BOOK, “Once a Scmuck - Always a Scmuck” (required reading) & slumber peacefully in that pee soaked lazy boy that you found in the street last week during the blizzard.
