Happy Days Are Hear Again? Shakespeare a Prophet?

Is it really true that the best news that we can find for the Bush Regime is that they have not yet quite screwed up the one success that they have had? See: WP Sudan’s Peace Deal

In the first place: The Bush Regime did not have any success in the Sudan. Colin Powel did that pretty much on his own without any help. It is unfair for the Failure claim credit for Powell's accomplishment because Colin Powell was an outsider in the Regime. Further more even Powell's accomplishment is marred by the failure to resolve Darfur. At least he tried. Who knows what he might have accomplished if he had had a President. So the Bush Regime does not deserve credit for success in the Sudan. The Bush Regime will however deserve the blame for allowing the success that occurred in spite of them to unravel. They did not fix it, but they are screwing it up.

"Double, double toil and trouble, Fire burn, and cauldron bubble."
This is the Bush policy. Double the toil and trouble for the non rich classes. Fire burn in the mid east stirring the seething cauldron of anti-Americanism. It is like everything else that the Failure touches. It is like magic. Bush touches it and it turns to crap. He almost has the alchemy right. Maybe just a dash of hot lead... for the British East India Company... er Haliburton...

In the poison'd entrails throw.—
Toad, that under cold stone,
Days and nights has thirty-one;
Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot!
(Toss the Dick Cheney in the pot. If he is not a venomous toad with poisoned entrails what is?)
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Fenny Snake??? Titan Arum??? Stinks like a rotten corpse??? Gotta be Karl Rove.
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Turn a blind eye Newt Gingrich's corruption so that he can be our next bald faced lying President. McClellan was a frog. They have cut him off at the knees.
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
"Wool of bat." Harriet Miers??? Barbara Bush??? Which old bat wool do they need? That is probably where they made their mistake. They used the wrong bat wool. That is why everything turns to crap... "Tongue of dog" is easy, that has gotta be Tony Snow job. He looks like a dog and he is their current lying tongue wagger.
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
This Regime is definitely a toxic forked tongue adder. "Blind worms sting," has to prophesize the gay prostitute that "came" in the back door of the white house hundreds of times?
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
Not quite sure what this means... There are those that say Bush is an alien shape shifting lizard and Cheney shoots anything that moves including old men and owls.
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
No explanation necessary.

Who knew Shakespeare was a prophet. I leave the rest Shakespeare's "Double, double toil and trouble, Fire burn, and cauldron bubble." prophesy for you to analyze.

You have a perfect system, Ray. Anything that the Bush Administration does that works, is not their doing. Anything that happens bad is entirely their, even if they didn’t do it because they let it happen.

This posting is very informative because of what it tells us about Bush haters; it says very little about Bush.

Brilliant, Ray! Very, very funny.
I’ve got my own opinion on this line:
“Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,—”

I think that’s Rummy and Condi respectively. I always thought Rummy’s face had a lizard-like quality, and Bush certainly used him like a crutch (“leg”) for the longest time. As for Condi the owlet, she’s their favorite “intellectual” and she certainly has been doing a lot of flying all over these days!

I admit I laughed at this article, but one must be careful. In Henry VI, Part 2, one of the rebels says, “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.” That sentiment must give shivers to a certain presidential candidate.

Trent,
Which one would that be? Guiliani, Brownback, H. Clinton, Edwards, and Obama have all been lawyers…

Yeah, I realized my mistake after I posted. But Dick the Butcher apparently wouldn’t distinquish between them — kill ‘em all.

Thanks all,

Nice to hear from you Adrienne,

Lawyers are almost as much fun to beat up on as politicians.

Not too long ago I was in a discussion where W.Clinton was accused of doing nothing about terrorism. I listed some of his known accomplishments. One of them was the apihension of the milenium bombers at the bordor. My antagonist retorted that Clinton did not deserve the credit. That Credit belonged to an alert bordor patrol agent.I guess for Clinton to deserve the credit he would have to personally man every border checkpoint.
You do this yourself. The brilliant economic plan by Clinton/Rubin that passed in his first term, without one Rep vote, was directly responsible for the most properious period in history by freeing up the capital to fund the boom. Any credit for that? Hell no. The best we get from you is that at least he did not screw it up.
Should I not conclude all that does is demonstrate how Clinton haters behave? Bush does deserve credit for hireing Powell. He deserves disdain for not listening to him ,even fireing him, about Iraq especially in light of his proven accomplishments. When you realize fully and finally just how bad a president Bush has been I just hope we are still around to accept your apoligy.

Yes indeed.
Study and Compare: This photo of Rummy, With this photo of a lizard.
A rather remarkable likeness, don’t you think?

BillS

I have often repeated that Clinton was a good steward of the economy, but I feel presidents get too much credit (or blame) for long economic waves.

I wrote whole posts about this. I have written that it is unfair to blame Clinton for terrorism and praised Clinton as a great statesman.
I praised Clinton for welfare reform and I even specifically lauded Robert Rubin. I have nothing against smart Dems or smart ideas by Dems. I just do not get that many opportunities.

Actually, I bet that I alone have written more good words for Dems like Clinton and Rubin than everyone on the blue side together has ever done about Bush or Republicans.

In fact, I think I liked Clinton’s real policies better than most of the blue boys, who like him a lot better in retrospect. I supported his welfare reform, NAFTA and trade promotion at the time. Most Dems did not.
