Cheney Drops a T-Bomb

Dick Cheney apparently didnít get the memo that Dubya is cruising to victory, because his latest claim almost reeks of desperation:

It’s absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on November 2nd, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we’ll get hit again, that we’ll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States, and that we’ll fall back into the pre-9/11 mind-set, if you will, that in fact these terrorist attacks are just criminal acts and that we are not really at war.

I wish Cheney talked to mere bloggers, because I have a few questions for him:

- Have you no shame?

- Wouldnít it be safer just to cancel the election? On second thought, donít answer that.

- Has John Kerry ever denied that we are at war? Here is what he had to say in his acceptance speech:

As President, I will fight a smarter, more effective war on terror. We will deploy every tool in our arsenal: our economic as well as our military might; our principles as well as our firepower.

Also:

We will add 40,000 active duty troops Ė not in Iraq, but to strengthen American forces that are now overstretched, overextended, and under pressure. We will double our special forces to conduct anti-terrorist operations.

Doesnít sound like a law enforcement response to me.

- Are you implying that we arenít in danger of a terrorist attack now? If we arenít, whatís with all the orange alerts? You should talk to Tom Ridge about this.

- Before 9/11, Bush wanted to invade Iraq. After 9/11, he still wanted to invade Iraq, even though Hussein had nothing to do with the attack. He even pulled resources away from the hunt for Osama bin Laden way back in February 2002 so he could start the Iraq War. Who, pray tell, has a pre-9/11 mindset?

- Speaking of Osama, whatever happened to the man? Bush didnít even mention him in his acceptance speech. Come to think of it, you didnít either. Neither did Rudy. Whatever happened to "Wanted: Dead or Alive"?
