What The..?

President Bush recently asked John Kerry to clarify his position on the vote that gave him a Congressional OK to invade Iraq, if necessary. Any time your political opponent asks you a direct question, you can be sure it’s a trap. That’s why crybaby Bush went whining to the moderator when Gore asked him a direct question during the 2000 debates.

Anyhow, Kerry did something pretty brave: Kerry answered the question directly. Kerry basically said, "I voted for it, didn't I?" Left unspoken was the "Moron." that usually follows such a statement. Sure enough, Bush came back the next day and fabricated an anti-war label to stick on Kerry, just so he could once again use the applause line, "flip-flopper" at his hand-picked Republican gatherings.

I was going to blog this yesterday, but I just couldn't do it. I was too embarrassed that the President of the United States would resort to such a cheap lie to mischaracterize his opponent. Kerry has been consistent on Iraq from day one.

Is the President really so out of touch that he doesn't realize the peaceniks in the Democratic Party are dismayed that Kerry got the nomination? Is Bush getting Kerry mixed up with Kucinich or Sharpton? Could President Bush be that stupid? Maybe he should start giving Democrats goofy nicknames so he can keep them straight.

There are plenty of legitimate concerns President Bush could have raised about Kerry's Iraq policy. Was it really necessary to invent some wacked out mischaracterization?
