Democrats and Yellowgate

How should Democrats be dealing with the current Administration scandal over YellowGate?

Should be we be shaking our heads in sympathy, clucking platitudes or letting the bastards have it with both barrels?

Don’t just say what would make you happiest. Tell us what would do the most good for the cause of the Democratic Party. And why.

The SINGLE most important and potent thing the Democratic Party could for itself is to go on the stump to 1)either eliminate the FEC or 2)open the FEC to non-partisan control and administration.

Why? This simple single step would rein in votes from both conservative and liberal third parties for the Democrats in the next election cycle. The free press generated by the third party PR machines alone, would be worth millions in campaign donations. And the Democrats vote totals would jump (my guess) about 2 percent in 2004. That 2 percent will quite likely make the difference in the Senate races and very likely in the Presidential race.

Bill Clinton said it best last night on Larry King. He said to move on. Presidents make mistakes and that the most imporrtant thing right now is to build democracy in Iraq.
